MONIQUE
All through the ride to Gavin's place, he and I said no words to one another.I looked out through the window watching the pedestrians on the street walking in the cold night."We are here," I heard Gavin say.I stepped out of the limousine and was met with a big fancy white mansion. There were six guards and six maids all dressed in a corporate outfit waiting at the entrance.Gavin came and stood beside me. He gave me his hand to take and I linked my arms with his."Welcome home wifey," he uttered beside me."Home," I uttered, the word sounded foreign to me.I used to love that word, back when I was in love and happy with Cole but then he shattered my heart and threw me out like nothing.Thinking about it only brought back the pain I had managed to suppress."Let's go." He said.We both walked past the maids and guards and into the white mansion. My eyes lit up in amusement from the interiors of the mansion. It is the most beautiful house I've ever seen. A gold chandelier hung up in the sky with different adorned ornaments.Another that caught my eye was the shining two curvaceous staircases that led to only heavens knows how many rooms."This is magnificent!" I uttered in amusement."I'm glad you do wife. Now come on, let's get you to our bedroom," he said, leading me towards the stairs. We both arrived in our bedroom and I was wowed by how beautiful and set the room was. In the middle of the room was a king-size bed with the shape of love made using petals of roses."This is beautiful. You know you don't have to do this much for a marriage that isn't real," I remarked and he chuckled."I know but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make it real besides this marriage might be a contract but everything we do is real. I'm never going to marry again so I might as well just do one or two, don't you think?" He replied."Alright then. So before we get to rest for the night, shall we go over the rule of the marriage once again?" I asked.I watched as he unbuttoned his shirt and I looked away."I don't have an issue with what you want but one thing that won't be removed is the fact that we are couples and we will get sexually involved," he replied.“Not that. I mean we already spoke before but we still need to state where we stand. We are married but on papers and we have our duties to each other.”I cleared my throat. “I want revenge against my ex-husband and you are willing to help in exchange that I marry you for the camera. I want us…”“That’s fine. I’ve heard you and what you want and I know where we are in this relationship. So why don’t you get dressed, go shower, and let’s get started,” he cuts me off in a polite manner.“Started on what?” I asked, feigning confusion. He smirked. “Do I have to say it?”I heard his footsteps come towards me but I still didn’t turn to look at him.“If you are naked then don’t come close and stop walking,” I warned.“And why do you think I’m naked?” He questioned, still walking towards me.“It is because you were getting rid of your shirt earlier,” I replied.“Look at me.” I felt his hot breath fan my neck.“No,” I stated firmly.“Look at me.” He demanded again.“No,” I replied.“Look at me.” He said once again, his voice sounding stern and firm and I did but slowly.“Now, was it hard?” He asked with a smile on his face:I felt my mouth go dry staring at him. The minute my eyes came in contact with his, I felt chills all over my spine. One minute I was staring into his eyes and the next minute my eyes were shamelessly trailing his body. He has a perfect body. One that I felt the urge to touch.“You are drooling,” Gavin said cockily.“No, I’m not,” I looked away.“Don’t worry. You will get to touch the body, after all, I’m yours until this act between the both of us comes to an end,” he remarked.“So what don’t you go shower or should we shower together because as you can see, I am not exhausted,” he smiled.I took a step from him. “No. We will be taking our bath separately.”“You will bath alone and I will bath alone. You either bathe first or I bathe first. Either way, we won’t be and we won’t be doing anything this night. I am tired.” I said to him politely with a smile on my face. All I wanted to do was get rid of my dress, take a nice shower, and sleep and he wouldn’t be depriving me of that.“Alright then. Tonight is your free day. You can go and bathe first.” He said.“Thank you,” I mouth.“Can you turn around, please? I need to get rid of my dress,” I informed him.He chuckled.“What?” I raised my brows in a questioning manner.“You are acting like I haven’t seen your body and I won’t see your body,” he smirked.“Doesn’t matter so please turn around,” I said and he did as told.I heaved a sigh of relief and got rid of my dress.“Monique.” I heard Gavin’s voice and I halted on my track.“Tomorrow is going to be a lovely day,” he said.“Why is that?” I asked inquisitively.“That’s because I have a big surprise for you.” He replied smiling at me.If there’s one thing I love about Gavin, it is his smile. He smiles so well and he makes my heart flutter effortlessly.“Alright then. We shall see,” I replied with a smile before walking into the bathroom.Monique Gavin and I were seated in the backseat of the car, and I lazily stared out the window. Earlier this morning, he had suddenly asked me to get dressed in formal attire, mentioning that he had somewhere to take me, but when I asked him where it was, he refused to say anything. According to him, this was going to be his wedding gift to me and a way for him to show how committed he was to proving that he meant it when he said he'd help me get revenge. I was genuinely taken aback when he said that earlier, but instead of dwelling on it, I reminded myself not to be fooled or get carried away. As the driver kept driving without stopping, I became even more restless and impatient. I threw a glance at Gavin, before questioning how long this was going to take. "I know you said it's a surprise, or whatever, but can't you please just tell me where we're headed now? I can't stand not knowing anymore." Gavin chuckled softly, his amusement evident in his eyes. "Ah, Monique, I didn't p
THIRD PERSON POV"Do you have an idea why Mr. Jones called for this urgent meeting?" The shareholders and investors of Cole's company whispered amongst themselves as they waited for Gavin to show up. Last night, Gavin had called for a shareholder meeting wanting to tell them something important.Cole on the other hand was pressed. He had no idea as to why Gavin, the biggest shareholder at his company would request they all assembled. Cole constantly kept looking in the direction of the door while expecting Gavin because he felt nervous in the pit of his stomach. Gavin wasn't one to just call for a meeting and for him to do so, it was serious. The door opened suddenly and Gavin walked in with his assistant behind him."Hello, gentlemen. I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting," Gavin said the minute he stood before the shareholders and investors who were waiting for him.He looked around the room and once his eyes set on Cole he smiled. He had called this meeting because he had somethi
Monique's pov "Did you see the look on that idiot's face?" I laughed as Gavin and I walked out of the company and back to the car. "He looked absolutely mortified." The look on his face earlier had made me so happy because I could tell that Cole was both horrified and pissed off. I'm pretty sure the last thing he was expecting was for me to show up at his workplace and suddenly be announced as his boss, and the fact that Gavin had given me such a perfect wedding gift made my heart leap for joy. "Someone seems ecstatic," Gavin said, opening my side of the door for me. I looked up at his towering figure, and with a smile on my face, I responded. "And it's all thanks to you," I winked before entering the car. For some reason, Gavin seemed to have frozen up, because instead of turning around and getting inside the car, he simply stood frozen by my side of the door. "Aren't you getting in?" I asked with a confused look on my face. Instead of responding directly to me, Gavin wou
MONIQUEAfter he dropped me off, he drove off without saying anything and I’ve been staring at my wristwatch every hour to know what the time was.I hated that I was bothered but I couldn’t help it. As much as I was angry at him, I also had my part to play because I recall clearly what our agreement was but I just didn’t think it was going to be this way. The day soon began to lose its brightness signaling that nighttime was coming and I saw no headlights of Gavin. I wanted to pick up my phone and call him but my pride wouldn’t allow me to. Eight o’clock, nine o’clock, ten o’clock and I gave it up and called him. I dialed his number, it rang but no response. I dialed his number again for the second time and the same response. I gave up and decided to sleep and wasn’t responsible for him but I couldn’t. I tossed and turned on the bed, pleading for my body to listen to me and sleep but it didn’t happen.“Sleep, Monique! Sleep for fuck sake! He’s a grown-ass man and he will be fine so
Monique I was restless. I tried everything I could to stop thinking about the conversation that Gavin and I had earlier today, but no matter how many times I tried, I couldn't help it. To make things worse, I couldn't resume work just yet since it would be strange for me to start working immediately after my wedding to Gavin, so what that meant was that I was stuck in the house for the time being, and so was Gavin. I haven't left my room since our conversation, mostly because I didn't want to run into him and also because I didn't want to end up giving in to him. I already tried considering the idea of going on a honeymoon with him, but no matter how many times I thought it over, it was still a bad idea. Feeling frustrated, I let out a tired sigh, wondering how long I would have to stay cooped up in here. My room was already starting to feel a little bit suffocating. I honestly wanted to take a walk around the house and see for myself how big the place was since I haven't don
MONIQUE"Can we meet up and talk?" I read the message that came in some seconds ago. I furrowed my brows as I thought about who it could be as the message came from an unknown number."Who is this?" I sent it back, wanting to know since I couldn't guess. "It's Cole. Can we see and talk?"After reading the text, I was surprised that he'd sent me a text. Why does he want to see me? It didn't make sense to me why he'd want to talk to me.We had no business with each other and the last time we spoke, he threw me out of his house calling me a useless girl so what does he want to say to a useless girl?I ignored his text but my phone beeped again and again signaling I received numerous texts."Please don't ignore.""I know that you do not want to see me but please don't ignore me.""I will wait for you at the mountain restaurant 9:30pm.""I hope that you will come."I read his text and shook my head in disbelief. To think he thought I’d come if he sent me a bunch of text messages. Just as
Monique's Pov I could already tell that the voice that asked where I was coming from belonged to Gavin, but what I couldn't understand was why he thought he had any right to ask me such a question."I'm sorry, but what right do you have to ask me where I'm coming from? I mean, I remember asking you the same thing earlier, and you definitely didn't seem enthusiastic to respond to me, so why should I ?" I retorted, turning to look at him with a disapproving look on my face. He was obviously not having my response, and I watched him groan in frustration without caring in the least bit about how he felt. "Listen, Monique, I really don't understand what your problem with me is, but this nasty attitude of yours needs to stop! I'm sick and tired of dealing with this disrespect, and if you have something you perhaps want to say to me, go ahead and say it instead of behaving like a child," he said, and I scoffed in disbelief. Men and their audacity. I just finished dealing with one idiot
GAVINit has been the same ever since we had our first fall and I'm hating it. I tried not to be affected by it but it's driving me crazy. We got married for a purpose and that's what we should be doing. Each time I try to start a conversation with her, it always ends up in a fight and it doesn't sit well with me.Once again, I'm out, having a shot of two to distract myself before I go out."Hey handsome," a girl appeared beside me, touching my shoulder while staring at me lustfully.I removed her hand from my shoulder and looked away from her. "What are you doing here alone?" She asked and I mentally scoffed.I didn't reply to her because my response wasn't necessary. "You know..." she placed her palm on my shoulder again. "For a man like you, it doesn't make sense for you to be alone, don't you think?"I placed my hand on her and gently removed them. I called for the attention of the bartender. "My bills please," I said," taking out my card from my wallet. The waiter came back wi
