Chapter 158: Hope

Arya’s POV

“Her condition is quite critical because of the growing fetus in her but-”

“Wait, she’s pregnant?”

“Yes, aren’t you her partner? You weren’t aware? Well then, congratulations! But for the case of the burns on her face, she can’t have any surgery done until after her delivery. In my opinion that’ll give the wound time to heal and ensure a smoother result”

“Thank you doctor”

‘Am I dreaming? These voices... or am I dead? Which would be a better answer? Suddenly I’m not afraid of death’.

Slowly my lashes flutter open but the dangling light bulb shut them, I try again and this time my blurred vision aligned with my surroundings. I see the retreating figure of the doctor and a back view of a man which is most closest to me.

“Ah”

My attempt to try sitting up failed woefully but it garnered his attention. I already knew it was gonna be Damien but as he turned I wasn’t expecting the worried look plastered on his face.

“How’re you feeling? Don’t try to sit up, rest some more”.
