Rue's words kept replaying in my head, swirling around and bringing with them a tidal wave of emotions.

The moment he expressed his willingness to still be the father of my future children, despite his belief that I betrayed him, it struck me deeply.

I couldn't help but wonder… if only I had stopped to truly listen to him before resorting to deception, maybe my children wouldn't have to face the prospect of growing up without their father.
