I have been in front of the computer searching through every possible jobs I could attend an interview for tomorrow.

Today was a disaster, and there is no need to put my mind to getting actual work there.

“Hello, best friend.” The door opened revealing a smiling, carefree Jessy who looked like she had drunk a blank.

She giggled loudly at the door while throwing her shoes away simultaneously.

I froze my hand on the computer, watching her through the half struggle of closing the door and laughing and trying to get rid of her work clothes.

“Are you drunk??” Although she is laughing right now, I don't even need to ask that question.

She giggled again, and I sighed before standing up and walking to the door.

Pushing her aside, I close the door before half dragging her away from it.

“I was so tired and fed up with everything, and guess what? I decided to drink” she giggled and once we were close to the couch she pushed me aside falling to the couch.

One look at her and I know she is super wasted.

“Oh God” I leaned down to take out the other pair of shoes, and she smelled great. “Just how much did you drink??"

She snuggled more into the couch, taking the sofa pillow and snuggling into it.

Well, I don't need to ask because there it is, just how much she had drunk.

After taking her shoes off and the rest of her clothes, I left her lying down there as her snore filled the living room.

I walked to the bedroom, got a duvet, and covered her with it before closing down the system and getting ready for bed.

Before Zoe can join us here, I need to have a steady life for us, and now she is coming sooner than expected.

I sighed, already tired of every single thing happening in my life, before taking one last look at Jessy and turning the light off.

I guess tomorrow is another day, another to disgrace myself more in an interview.

* * *

I heard a loud sound and groaned, using the pillow to cover my ears. A loud thud is heard before the sound is turned off.

“Jessy, someone lives here too” I shouted into the pillow and could hear the crackle of her voice.

“I'm sorry sweetheart, but I need the coffee” she shouted from the living room

I groaned into the pillow knowing that any idea of sleep had just been taken away from me.

After closing my eyes for a minute or two, I stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom.

Taking care of my morning needs was pretty quick before I walked to the living room and there she was on the study computer with her caffeine.

“Yours is there” She pointed to the little kitchen space table and winked at me then proceeded to blow me a kiss.

Gosh, it's like she didn't come back so drunk. She is just too okay for someone who barely knows what she was doing the night before.

I took a sip of the caffeine as I felt the relaxation hit me hard.

“You didn't tell me about the interview” She turned her chair towards me, giving me her full concentration.

“Oh don't remind me” I groaned, placing my head on the table.

“It cannot be that bad??” She asked and I groaned again.

“Trust me it was, Adriel Jaime was there,” I told her.

“What??” She mouthed, her mouth agape, “Like seriously? What was he doing there??”

“I don't have any idea Jessy, it was like he was sent to ask me questions and make sure I didn't answer shit. You know what? I'm going to keep finding cause this is a no-go area” I declared, defiantly, going to the table to settle down.

“Are you serious?? Did he remember you??” She asks.

“Did he remember me? Good question” I scoff, “I think he did because everything pointed out that fact”

“Oh that's bad, it means there isn't a way,” she said with sadness.

“Sure, but you can always dismiss yourself and make me your replacement??” I suggested.

“Umm baby girl hold yo ass tight” She rolled her eyes at me and turned her chair back to the computer she was on.

“Thanks for being a good friend” I pined at her and then turned towards my phone as I heard a peeping sound “That's my cue, I have an interview in 30 minutes” I left her there with her work I ran to the bathroom getting ready for another insufferable interview.

* * *

It's been a week since that disastrous interview with AJ Spins and Scents and finally, I have a job to my name.

Although it isn't exactly what I was looking for, the pay and tips can keep me going every so often.

I just got back home tired from all the standing and I know exactly what I needed, lots of sleep.

“Hey Rissa welcome back” Jessy, who was lying down on the sofa and her eyes pinned on the television, greeted me and I waved at her before walking to the bedroom.

God, I'm so tired, waiting tables for more weeks, and I'm going to die before my time

“So I have news for you” I didn't even notice when she entered and turned around a little to look at her.

Her face was ever cheerful as it always pined on me, and she seemed somewhat merry.

“You know how my night shift goes Jess, I don't have time for guesswork” I walked to the bed and started removing my shoes first.

After standing for such a long time, I feel like my toes are going numb completely.

“Okay that's great then, now I have a surprise for you and I even printed it out” She twirled herself around until she came to me and then showed a piece of paper to me.

I sighed in frustration before lying flat on the bed.

“Just give it to me without drama please” she chuckled, seeing my impatience.

“I love that” She stared at me and then dropped the paper to the bed and I picked it up, steadying myself as I looked at it.

“Congratulations you have… What? What's this??” I stared at the paper in shock as I heard her scream at Jessy before she engulfed me in a hug, “How???”

“Oh baby, no one cares, I am so happy for you. Welcome to the AJ club,” she kissed my cheeks excitedly.

I stared at the paper email she had printed out, I was offered the job as Adriel Jaime's assistant, and this still feels unreal.

“Can I see the real email??” I ask her and she frowns.

“It's on your phone, I guess now you are working with him, you will know how to open an email”

I'm still buzzing with excitement, I opened the email on my phone to see the real thing.

God, how very excited and happy I feel right now.

“This… This feels… I am so excited”

“Of course, you are” I hugged her with excitement that screamed out at me.

“Oh and check the other two emails, you might want to read those” she pointed out

“I need to strategize Jessy, this is it, I can get closer to saving Zoe”

She ignored me and rolled her eyes

“You first have to enjoy working there before anything else, for now just enjoy this opportunity before you start with your strategy”

The only thing that made me ever think of working in an AJ organization is Zoe, and I won't forget that.

The only reason I am this excited is because, finally, I will get closer to them, starting with my first suspect, Jaime.

“And babe, this is where the real work begins” She winked at me, drawing away

“I don't care about the work Jessy, I just want to find the truth and nothing but,” I told her, shushing her away from me.

It feels like everything I wanted has just fallen into place just because of a letter of acceptance.

“But I thought, I mean after the interview.....”

“You don't have to think anything Rissa, enjoy the buzz” She fled the room and banged the door on her way.

I stared at the email for the longest and then scrolled to the next one

The proposed payment has my eyes gouged out.

“What the hell?” It was much for an assistant, and I couldn't just stop staring.

I went to the next paragraph and saw that some money would be sent to my account once I added it up for the first payment before work started.

“Oh this is great, I can send some money over home” I beamed and then quickly added my account to where it was needed.

Yes, today hasn't gone too well, but I will be starting work in Adriel Jaime's company and that is all I need to make my day a better one.

CLARISSAI gasped as my back hit the elevator wall, his hands gripping my hips, his mouth crashing against mine like he had been starved for it.His hands were rough on my skin, pressing me so hard I knew I needed more. The kiss was urgent, greedy. His hips rolled into me, and I whimpered at the feel of his thick, hard length pressing against my stomach.“Finally…” he muttered, his teeth grazing my bottom lip before sucking it into his mouth. “I’ve been craving you since the day you fucking stared at me from across the hall.”His words hit harder than I expected. Without thinking, I pushed closer, needing him all over me. God, I wanted more.“Impressive,” I managed to say as his hips moved again, his hand hitching my dress up.His lips trailed to my neck, and his teeth scraped against the sensitive skin there. “Can’t wait to be inside you,” he growled. The heat of his breath zinged straight to my core, and if I thought I was already wet, I was dripping now from the filthy things comin

JAIME ADRIELThe moment the message came in, I picked up my phone, thinking it was something work-related.But no, it was a video.Clarissa.In a kitchen. With George Aberforth. My jaw clenched before I even realized it. Her laughter rang through the speakers, light and carefree. She wasn’t even in the frame for most of the video, but her smile was loud enough to feel. And for some reason, that pissed me off more than I care to admit.“Sir?”I looked up, dragging my eyes from the screen and placing the phone flat on the table. We were in the middle of a meeting, finalizing the first branch opening here, the fragrances doing exceptionally well in early markets. This was supposed to be a win. Expansion was next on the agenda. But now I was trying to piece together what I had missed while my head had been somewhere else.Across the table, Georgina was watching me. She hadn’t looked away once the entire time. I honestly wished she wasn’t here, but of course, she had demanded to be include

CLARISSA MILLERI tossed and turned all night and barely caught a wink of sleep. This morning’s schedule is already glaring at me, reminding me of everything I need to get done. So why can’t I get out of this bed?Oh, right, I know why. It has everything to do with my boss.I’m trying hard not to think about the fact that I’ve developed feelings for Jaime Adriel, but it’s driving me insane.Last night, I had to leave as quickly as possible. Even when he offered to drive me back to the hotel, I told him I would be fine on my own, and then I ran.Yes, I fled. Because I was on the verge of losing it, and there’s really no other way to explain how loud these emotions are in my head.I turned into the pillow and let out another scream, louder this time. Tell me how this even happened? When? Why?This is the crazy part, there is no explanation.I lifted my head and stared up at the ceiling, then turned to the sunlight streaming through the window.Maybe I’ll just stay here and wait to die.

CLARISSANot only was he funny, but I never expected George to be the type of man who could be so laid back, making a woman laugh without trying to pull her down.Even after finding out I was just an assistant, he still spoke to me calmly, with a warm smile that made him feel like a breath of fresh air, so unlike the world of the rich I was used to while working with Jaime.“This piece of art is unique. It has been in this house for centuries, passed down from generation to generation. You have good eyes.”I turned to George with a full smile before my gaze flicked back to the painting on the wall.It looked like a bowl of mashed potatoes at first glance, but the longer I stared, the more it pulled me in. I still couldn’t quite tell what it was, but I was captivated.“Your home is beautiful, George,” I said, pulling my eyes away from the art and glancing at the crowd filling the house. And then my eyes went exactly where they shouldn’t, Jaime and Georgina, George’s twin sister, standi

  • He Had Me On A Contract    Chapter 38

JAIME ADRIELAfter a long, exhausting day at work, all I wanted was to unwind. But of course, the party I have been invited to still required my presence. And that’s where Clarissa came in.I sent her a message almost two hours ago, asking her to get ready. Even the dress I had delivered to her suite remained untouched. No confirmation, no reply. Where the hell was she?I shouldn’t be this angry, but I was. I was standing right in front of her door, and it was nearly 7 p.m. She wasn’t back. The irritation I have been holding in all day boiled over. She had already pissed me off earlier, ditching the first meeting without a single word. And now she couldn’t even be bothered to answer her phone? Not the calls. Not the dozen texts. That alone was enough reason to fire her, regardless of whatever agreement we had made. She was the first to break it. She was supposed to follow my schedule, not hers. Then the elevator dinged.Laughter, bright, warm, hers, echoed down the hallway before she

  • He Had Me On A Contract    Chapter 37

Seven torturous hours later, I could barely see my screen. My back ached, my head pounded like a drum, and my neck felt like it was about to snap clean off. Yet, my boss still sat across from me, throwing piles and piles of work in my direction like I was some machine designed to never stop.In just three hours, we had another important meeting. So somehow, I was expected to show up looking fresh and capable, not like the zombie I was slowly turning into. The first groan that escaped my mouth all night earned me a sharp look from him, irritation flaring through his nose.“What exactly were you doing all evening before now?” he snapped, silencing the little complaint that had been building in my chest. I couldn’t even form a reply. What was I supposed to say? Watching TV and sipping wine before he barged in like the devil? He stood abruptly, and for a moment, hope bloomed in my chest.“I need to take this call,” he muttered, waving his phone at me, one I hadn’t even noticed ringing, be
