Celia POV
In a hurry, I grabbed one of Leon's shirts and dashed out of the door.
Soon, I arrived at Arona Clinic.
I barely reached the entrance when Karlee came rushing out.
"Celia, there you are! Theta Landon wants to see you in his office! You need to brace yourself..."
"Why does Theta Landon want to see me?" I asked, surprised at Karlee's unusual nervousness. "What's going on?"
Theta Landon was our pack's medical mainstay and director of the clinic.
Karlee glanced around to ensure no one was listening, then leaned in close.
"All the important internal files at the clinic have gone missing today!"
"How does that concern me?" I frowned.
"The key point is, Cynthia reported to Theta Landon that it was because you didn't lock the door that all the files are gone! Today, an Alpha will come to inspect the clinic's new project. All the hard work we put into those files is now wasted. Theta Landon is furious and will likely blame you!"
Cynthia, like me, was an intern at the clinic. This year, there was only one internal promotion opportunity at the clinic. She had been competing with me.
However, Theta Landon was Cynthia's uncle. She didn't study medicine, but through Landon, she managed to become an intern as well. Everyone was quite critical about it, but they didn't dare say anything due to Landon's position.
We walked inside.
Cynthia's voice could be heard inside the office.
"Uncle Landon, calm down. It's all Celia's fault. She didn't lock the door properly before leaving!"
Landon, clearly agitated, exclaimed, "Where is that damned Celia? She didn't show up for work yesterday or today! I'm definitely going to fire her!"
I knocked lightly and entered the office.
Landon was furious.
"Celia, it's a weekday! Why are you so late? You were absent without an excuse yesterday too! Is this your work ethic?"
I calmly explained, "I'm sorry, Theta Landon. I had some trouble yesterday and this morning that caused me to be late."
Landon found my excuse ridiculous.
"Don't you know you should apply for a leave of absence?"
"I'm really sorry, and I'll make sure to apply for leave in advance next time."
Cynthia chimed in mockingly, "Celia, since you don't want to work here, you can quit now!"
At that moment, the office door was pushed open. Landon, noticing this, quickly stood up, bowing and smiling politely.
"Oh! Alpha Leon, Beta Calvin! Please come in..."
Cynthia's eyes instantly lit up when she saw Leon.
I frowned and was indifferent about it, turning my head away.
I was even a little annoyed.
Why was he everywhere?
Apologetically, Landon said, "Alpha Leon, I'm sorry, but all our clinic's files are missing. It's because of this intern named Celia! She didn't lock the door properly when she left!"
Leon's icy gaze swept over me without a hint of warmth.
He spoke coldly, "Theta Landon, it seems today is not the right time. In that case, let's reschedule for another day."
"Alpha Leon, I sincerely apologize for wasting your time."
I noticed Karlee anxiously peering into the office from the doorway.
Suddenly, I remembered that this new project was Karlee's first independent planning effort. If it failed, it would be challenging for her to take on such responsibilities again.
During my internship, Karlee had been very supportive of me.
"Alpha Leon!" I spoke up suddenly.
Leon, who was about to leave, halted.
I walked over to him.
"Alpha Leon, I understand your time is precious, but since you're already here, in case you miss out on a good project, that would be a real waste of time."
Leon's gaze remained cold.
"It seems you can't present anything to me right now."
I assured him, "You can sit down and have a cup of coffee, and I'll make sure to present the new project plan to you, Alpha Leon."
Landon looked at me incredulously. Cynthia rolled her eyes in disdain.
There was a brief silence before Leon raised an eyebrow.
"This young lady is quite spirited. Landon, do you have coffee here?" Leon asked.
Landon snapped back to reality and immediately instructed, "What are you standing there for? Go prepare coffee for Alpha Leon!"
"Sure!"
Cynthia seized the opportunity to interact with Leon and swayed her hips as she went to make coffee.
I returned to the archives room and searched for any suspicious traces.
Wait...
Why did the wall with the shelf look so clean? There must be something wrong with it!
I moved the shelf aside and discovered another door. Opening it, I found the missing files inside.
Luckily, I installed cameras in the archive room.
Karlee paced anxiously outside the office. I walked toward her and held up the file triumphantly.
"Look. Our project proposal."
Karlee was astonished and took them.
"Celia, how did you find these files? You're amazing! Thank you so much!"
I smiled, "I just printed another copy. I had backed them up before."
"Thank you so much, Celia! I'll go give them to Theta Landon now! Love you!"
Karlee hugged me and hurried off to deliver the files.
Suddenly, my colleagues swarmed around me, asking for copies of the backup files.
I responded, "Don't worry. I'll send them to you guys later."
Sipping my coffee, I glanced toward Landon's office.
…
Fifteen minutes later, Leon walked out of the office. His handsome face remained expressionless, revealing no emotions.
As he passed my desk, he suddenly stopped and turned his head, giving me a cold look.
"You wasted an hour of my time."
Cynthia, wearing a smug smile, strolled over.
"Celia, Alpha Leon thinks your team's project plan is crap! That's what I thought too. It really sucks!"
I kept my calm, not letting her provocation affect me.
Ignoring Cynthia, I turned to Karlee, who had just walked out of the office.
"Karlee, what's going on?"
Karlee, sounding defeated, replied, "Celia, there are multiple critical errors in our project plan. Alpha Leon said our plan is rubbish..."
I furrowed my brows.
Landon returned, his face stern. He scolded Karlee sharply, "Karlee, what's wrong with you? How could there be so many fundamental errors? If you can't handle it, then don't do it!"
Karlee bowed apologetically.
"I'm sorry..."
I caught Cynthia's triumphant smile and knew she had tampered with the project plan.
Standing up, I said, "Theta Landon, the mistakes in the project plan have nothing to do with Karlee. I didn't inspect it before letting her take it. It's my fault, and I'll resign."
Landon frowned at me.
"Resign? Did you think it would be that easy? Celia, you're being fired! Now, get out!"
While waiting for the elevator, Karlee chased after me, looking guilty and anxious.
"Celia, the person who should resign is me... I'm sorry..."
I shook my head.
"It's not your fault. Landon was planning to fire me anyway. There's no need to drag you into this."
"But if you leave like this, Cynthia will be able to secure the promotion directly. Her abilities are clearly inferior to yours. It's too unfair!"
"It's fine."
I patted her shoulder and waved to her before stepping into the elevator.
When I stepped out of the elevator, Cynthia was waiting for me at the front desk. She had a box of office supplies in her hand and threw it in front of me.
"Take your stuff and get out! I'm gonna throw your desk out too, so I can turn that room into my office!"
I remained calm, bent down to pick up my things, and said, "Cynthia, since we're colleagues, I'll leave you with a piece of advice."
With a cold smile, I leaned closer to her and whispered, "Virtue may not bring wealth, but deceit will lead to destruction."
Celia POV I walked out of the clinic, carrying the box, when a black luxury car suddenly stopped beside me. Beta Calvin came out of the passenger seat, saying, "Luna Celia, Alpha Leon wants to talk with you in the car." I didn't want to and tried to walk around, but Calvin raised his hand to stop me. "Luna Celia, please get in the car." Unable to avoid him, I reluctantly got into the car. I took out my phone and looked through it. Cynthia had shared a photo on social media, capturing the moment I entered the car. The text was, "No wonder Celia left so happily! It turns out she hooked up with a rich man! She doesn't care about this job at all! That man looks like he's in his sixties? Gross!" Replies quickly followed. "Sixty years old? She's in a relationship with an old man about her grandfather's age? I'm going to throw up just thinking about it!" "Holy crap! Could Celia be a home wrecker?" I raised an eyebrow shared a video with our work chat group. In the video, Cynthia
Celia POV Tamia yelled and screamed, "Ah!!! Grandma, are you okay? Help!!! Celia wants to kill my grandma!" I felt something was wrong and quickly moved forward to check. However, Tamia forcefully pushed me away. "Back off! Don't touch my grandma! You wicked woman! " "She is in danger. Let me help her." "Danger? What danger? I know you want to hurt my grandma!" Tamia screamed. In a moment of urgency, I gave her a swift slap, forcefully pushing her aside. Immediately, I rushed towards Jazlene struggling on the sofa, continuously applying pressure to her stomach. Tamia covered her face and screamed, "Ah!!! Celia has gone crazy!!! She's going to kill my grandma!" Servants rushed over, trying to pull me away. "Stay away, all of you!" Suddenly, a cold and stern voice cut through the chaos. "What happened?" Leon entered, and the atmosphere became heavy. Tamia rushed into his arms, crying, "Brother, quickly save Grandma! Grandma is about to be killed by that crazy woman!" Leon
Celia POV The next morning, when I woke up, Leon was already not in the room. Lazily, I leaned against the bedhead, scrolling through my phone. Suddenly, a message from Alex popped up. "Boss, I found another bracelet that looks very similar to yours! Come to Royal Pack! I have a plan to get us into Lycan King's party today!" It must be the bracelet designed by my mom. Perhaps there would be some clues. I frowned as I immediately got up, washed up, and headed out. Meeting Alex, he quickly briefed me on the situation. "Boss, I've investigated it thoroughly. That bracelet is designed by Crescent. Lycan King bought it when he was abroad." Crescent was my mother's designer name. She was renowned for incorporating elements of herbs and plants into her designs. While everyone claimed my mother was no longer alive, I hadn't found any proof of her death. With no other leads, I decided to start by exploring her works scattered around the world. I was about to enter Royal Pack when I s
Celia POV I looked over at Alex and frowned slightly. Alex immediately understood what I meant. He cleared his throat, raised his hand to hold up the bluetooth headset he habitually wore in his left ear, and walked past Leon and me. He deliberately lowered his voice a few notches, pretending he was on the phone. "Boss, that was embarrassing just now! I was cursing Alpha Leon, and he overheard me! He's the one who bought out that sculpture you liked! Forget it, let him have it! We'll buy something else later!" With that, Alex walked away. I looked at Leon and raised an eyebrow with an innocent look on my face. "Alpha Leon, that guy seems to be cursing you!" Leon's eyes fell on me with a probing look. "You don't know him?" I shook my head. "No! Alpha Leon, do you know that man? Why did he say that?" Leon narrowed his eyes. "You still haven't answered me. What are you doing here?" I sighed with chagrin, "I heard that they were hiring waitresses here today, so I came over for
Celia POV The mating ceremony began. Carolyn walked up the red carpet and slowly walked towards Lamont. Suddenly, the picture on the big screen suddenly changed to a surveillance video. Lamont was pulling and tugging at a woman in a bridesmaid's dress in the hallway and going into a storage room. The crowd was in an uproar. Lamont's face turned pale. The happy smile on Carolyn's face slowly faded. She looked at Lamont in dismay and disbelief. "Lamont, who is that woman? What were you doing in the storage room?" Lamont said to Carolyn, "Carolyn, listen to me, it's not what you think! That bridesmaid said she wasn't feeling well and asked me to help her into the storage room to get some rest. When she entered the locker room, she took off her clothes and tried to seduce me! I was so shocked that I broke away and ran out. I didn't do anything!" Carolyn pushed him away and walked toward the stage. "Which one of you is the woman in the video?" Cynthia reached out from behind her
Celia POV Leon strode forward, reached out and yanked me behind him, kicking Lamont down hard. He crushed Lamont's hypocritical face with his fine, expensive leather shoes, looking down at Lamont condescendingly out of the corner of his eye. "You're asking for death." Lamont's face pales in terror. "Alpha Leon, I just don't want to part with Carolyn. I want her to give me another chance..." Leon narrowed his eyes grimly, "So you blackmailed her?" Lamont looked sheepish. "I had no choice. Alpha Leon, I really can't part with Carolyn!" Calvin laughed, "You can't lose her, or you can't lose the inheritance of Carolyn's matriarchal pack?" Lamont stiffened. Leon kicked Lamont away coldly. "Drag him down and clean the mess up. Don't dirty the hallways of the manor." Calvin sent someone to take Lamont down. Leon looked over at me, his tone a little stern. "Are you hurt?" I shook my head lightly. "Thank you for your concern, Alpha Leon. I'm fine." Suddenly, a woman came screamin
Celia POV The next day. I was eating the lunch Jazlene had made for me herself when I got a call from Carolyn. "Celia!" I didn't have Carolyn's number, but I heard Carolyn's voice and asked, "How did you get my number?" "I asked Uncle Leon for your number!" I wondered even more. "How did he get my number?" "I... He's your mate! Is it weird that he has your number?" "That's right..." "Celia, what are you doing? Come out and have a drink with me!" I frowned. "You're drinking in the middle of the day?" Carolyn's tone took on a slightly indulgent drunkenness. "I'm a hurt woman right now, and I need to vent! Celia, come here! I'm no fun on my own!" I'd just hung up when I received the address of the bar from Carolyn's text message. After explaining it to Jazlene, I headed out the door. ... Twilight Bar. The bar was noisy, and I saw Carolyn in the flashing brilliant lights. Overnight, Carolyn had dyed her hair pink and was bouncing on the dance floor. "Celia! You're here! L
Celia POV Inside the room. It was actually a flat floor and full of floor to ceiling windows, very spacious. The lights were dimmed, and the music was a live band. People were well-dressed, in groups, drinking and laughing. I looked for Carolyn in the crowd. Suddenly, a woman darted towards me, "Celia-" I frown, checking Carolyn from top to bottom. "What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Carolyn turned her head uneasily and pointed behind her. "They're bullying me!" I raised my eyes to the group of men over there. One of the men said, "Come on! You're the one who agreed to play with us, so how can you say we're bullying you?" With a stern face, I asked Carolyn, "What did you do?" Carolyn whispered, "I approached the three of them to inquire about where Uncle Leon was. However, they insisted that I play dice with them. And then I lost. They made me either drink all ten bottles of wine or kiss them..." I looked up at the men. "Playing dice, huh? I'll play with you guys!" The man sta
