( CLAUDE'S POV )
"Claude, wake up, wake up." A gentle push on my shoulders woke me up. I opened my eyes slowly and sat on the bed.
My body ached a little, and I stifled a yawn. And then something clicked in my mind, and my eyes widened.
"Hey, are you fine?" A calm voice beside me reminded me that I wasn't alone.
"I'm fine Victoria." As I spoke, I wondered what was happening. Wasn't I supposed to be dead?
"Victoria, what year is it?" I asked with bated breath.
Victoria in turn looked at me with a weird expression.
"Are you sure you are fine, Claude?" She asked again.
"Do I look otherwise?" I retorted.
"You don't, and that's the problem." She shook her head.
I sneered inwardly at her words. To think that I had lived with such a white lotus who could pretend perfectly well. Had I been blind all along?
She told me the date, and I groaned. I was right.
I was back in time, and my room confirmed it.
I was about to get up from the bed when a sudden sharp pain made me fall back.
The pain spread from my lower back, down my legs.
"Lie still, Claude, you aren't fit to move yet. That's what the doctor said." Victoria smiled at me.
"Doctor? What-" A sharp pain quietened me, and I lay still whimpering on the bed.
"I said lie still, Claude." Victoria patted my head.
"I'm trying to. Where are the others?" I asked.
I knew what had happened. On this particular day, in my past life, I had tripped and had fallen down the stairs.
I had hurt myself and was bedridden for weeks.
'Don't you think something instigated your fall?' I heard a voice in my mind, startling me.
"Did you hear that?" I gazed inquiringly at Victoria.
"What are you talking about?" She asked with a confused expression.
"Nevermind. I would like to have some quiet, can you leave?" I closed my eyes and pulled the duvet well over my body.
"Are you sending me out? But-"
"No buts, you don't want me to rest?" I asked her.
Weird enough, the look on her face was rejuvenating to me. I felt excited.
"No, that's not it. I will leave you to rest then." She bowed at me and walked out of the room.
I clicked my tongue loudly, not minding if she was just outside the door. She could eavesdrop for all I cared.
"What are you?" I asked in a whisper, while I looked around.
I was certain I had heard a clear voice in my mind.
'Nice to meet you, Claude.' The voice said again, and I jumped.
"You know my name?" I asked in confusion.
'Your question is quite silly. What inner wolf doesn't know the name of its master?' The voice drawled.
"My inner wolf?!!" I was as shocked as I was excited at her voice.
I had a wolf?
My reaction wasn't unwarranted. In my past life, my inner wolf remained dormant. Even when I clocked eighteen.
Wait, my birthday was in a few days, and that was the day I would clock eighteen. But my inner wolf was already awake.
It made no sense at all.
'Quite funny. First, I would like to apologize for being late. Secondly, we are back in time, so we don't have to follow the normal sequence as known by every werewolf. Does that answer your question? I'm Ria by the way.' She explained.
"It does. Nice to meet you Ria, but I believe that wasn't necessary. It's not as if we are random strangers you know. You are my wolf, aren't you?" I was amused.
'Sure, you are. I'm just observing protocols.' The voice chuckled.
I tried getting up but winced in pain.
'Relax. You can actually heal yourself, but it would be too suspicious.' Ria giggled.
"I can?!" I yelled, and when I realized I would attract the attention of others, I lowered my voice to a whisper.
'Of course. The benevolent Moon goddess always gives an extra gift to every reincarnator.' Ria explained.
"But I didn't reincarnate." I protested. I didn't feel like I had any powers at all.
'What difference is there? We traveled back in time and came back to life in a sense. A reincarnator also comes back to life, so what's the difference?'
"Whatever... So you mean I have powers now?" I asked as I felt excitement surging through my veins.
'You do. But you can never use it to do evil, else we will die.' Ria warned.
"What I'm I? A villain?" I rolled my eyes.
Ria didn't respond.
"How do you know all these by the way?" I asked. I wanted to know how she was so knowledgeable while I wasn't.
'I guess that's my own bonus point, whatcha say? It would be quite unfair if you have your gift, while I don't, don't you think?' Ria drawled.
"I get it, don't yell." I laughed.
'When did I yell?' She retorted.
"Don't know. Well, the Moon goddess has given us a chance. Each and everyone who hurt me must pay." My gaze hardened as I bowed.
I felt a familiar surge of anger flow through me, and I groaned.
There was no way I was going to be a fool in my new life. My best friend took what was the most valuable to me, and it would only be fair if I returned the favor to her.
'Are you going to kill her? Remember, no bloodshed.' Ria said in alarm.
"Killing my enemies can't be counted as evil, can it? Don't worry, I'm not a bad person, and I wouldn't hurt innocent people." I reassured.
'But-'
"Ria, take a chill pill and rest. I said I wouldn't do anything bad. However, I wouldn't let anyone trample on me.
Anyone, including the people who birthed me." My voice turned icy cold.
'Your parents?!' Ria shrieked.
"I would treat them as one if they behave as such." I silenced her protest.
Claude’s POVI got up from my bed with more enthusiasm than I have ever felt. Today I was going to see the ones that betrayed me… oh wait, I just saw one of them, Victoria. That bitch! After all I had done for her she still betrayed me, after disregarding my status as the Alpha’s daughter and going ahead to be best friends with her, she still had the guts to do this to me. I really don’t blame her, I blame myself for being so gullible. If I wasn't so soft-minded I wouldn't have been friends with her in the first place and all of these would have been avoided. All is well, I'm thankful to the moon goddess for giving me a second chance. Now all I have got to do is never repeat the mistakes I made in my past life.I took a quick shower and while I was still in the bathtub I heard a knock on the door.“Who is it?!” I yelled.Whoever it was didn't seem to hear me as he or she continued knocking on the door.“I say who the fuck is that!” I yelled, this time I used my Alpha female voice, a vo
“I don't understand, Miss Claude. Why will you ask me that now? You know I used to be a lone wolf before I joined the pack. It is the reason my scent is off.” she said.I listened. The statement sounded like I have heard it a thousand times and deep down I know I have but still, something didn't feel right, I know it but I just couldn't place my hand on it.“Oh, sorry about that. I had an accident and my mind is foggy. Do forgive me.” I said with a smile. She smiled back. “It's nothing. I actually came to check up on you, your mate and your best friend are downstairs, they are waiting for you… That is if you are strong enough to go to school, the Alpha and Luna are worried that you might not have healed enough to go to school.”“Ria, what do you think?” I asked. “About her strange scent or about going to school?” she replied with a question.“Both, but first, about her scent, isn't it a bit off?”“From what I remember it has always been like that. Your dad knows of her strange scent b
Author's POV “Claude!!! I’ve been waiting for you, let’s get going else we’ll be late for class.” I heard Victoria say. She was running towards me, with smiles on her face, fake smiles. Gosh, it was so obvious, I wonder why I never noticed it. “Well for numerous reasons, you were dumb, gullible, and weak,” Ria answered, chuckling. “Yeah, I know. You don’t have to rub it in!!” I pouted. She finally got to where I stood and hugged me awkwardly, I forced myself to stay in place and not push her away. “Claude.” Someone said, behind her. I looked up to see the one I dreaded seeing the most. Denver. My mate. The life we once had hard flashed through my memories at once. Flashback THE PAST LIFE… May 11th 1995 Author’s POV “Miss Mary, can you get me my Barbie doll? Denver threw it on the roof and now I can’t get it out.” Claude sobbed. “He did? Where is he? He deserves to be spanked.” Miss Mary, Claude’s own maid said. “He is over there,” she pointed, still in tears. “Let’s go,
Author’s POV “Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there.” Claude apologized swiftly. She was already covered in guilt. “No, it’s not you.” The girl said, wiping her snort with her hands. “Denver!! We have a situation at hand!” She called him. She knew he was probably hiding around one of the bushes and from the odd way the berry bushes looked She knew at once that he was behind it. He did not comment. “Come on, I know you are hiding behind those berry bushes so quit acting like a cry baby and come out of there!!” She yelled, festering with her hands. She heard a loud some of the protest. It came from the direction of the bush. Soon after he was out, there were leaves on his clothes and hair. He had a tight expression on his face as he was headed her way m. She chuckled at the sight of him. “Nice decoration boy.” She teased, laughing. The girl turned around and when she saw Denver she couldn’t take her eyes off him. “What happened?” He asked, ignoring her laughter. “Do you mean,
Chapter 10 The past… June 30, 2004. Claude’s Birthday. Author’s POV “Mom, I'm freaking out. What if I mess up?” Claude asked her mom, the Luna. She was nervous. Today is her eighteenth birthday. The most important birthday in the life of a werewolf. Wolves about to clock eighteen usually have the feeling of both happiness and nervousness. They are happy because they get to wolf out on that day, they also get to find their life partners known widely as their “mates” and they are nervous because of two things; one, uncertainty. The moon goddess is a being with the highest IQ. She understands the wolves and how much they respect hierarchy, so from time to time she chooses one quarter of the wolves coming of age in a particular year and does as she pleases them. Sometimes a wolf conceived from the mating of two omegas can wolf into a beta. Other times a wolf conceived of the mating of an alpha and a beta can produce a delta or even an omega. She does this to maintain the balance in
Victoria’s POV Everyone got up in a frenzy, ready for whoever was at the gate. It was very common for intruders to interrupt a wilding ceremony and the likelihood is greater when it is the wilding ceremony of the alpha’s daughter. Bearing his fangs, Denver stepped forward, waiting for who it was to come in. The door pushed open and Victoria stepped in with a gloomy expression. “Denver?” she called out. It was gradually approaching midnight, other wolves see clearly at this time bit itbese a different story for the Omega wolves. “Vicky? What are you doing here?!” he called with a laugh, he relaxed his shoulders. “Are you saying I shouldn't be here? I can go if you want me too.” I told him, I didn't mean it though, even if I wanted to leave, it won't be when Denver is here. I love being around him, it makes me happy. “No, no, no. How will I want you to leave, I'm just concerned, you showed up really late, Claude is uptight the whole day because you weren't around to cheer her up
Victoria’s POVI rolled my eyes and followed her. The funny thing is that she never noticed the way I act around her. Alpha daughter my foot! More like a dumbass.“Don’t walk so slow we have to be fast, it will soon be time,” Claude said, pulling my hand.We stood in front of her parents and I bowed my head in respect. “Good day, Alpha and Luna”. Claude went close to Luna and whispered something in her ear which made Luna smile and turn toward me.“Victoria, is it true that today is your birthday too,” she asked and I forced a smile and nodded. “Why didn’t you say anything? We could have prepared something for you, but anyways you both can celebrate it together”.“I didn’t want to be a burden,” I said looking down at my feet. She came towards me and hugged me. “You are like family to us so it wouldn’t be a burden. If you need anything don’t hesitate to tell me” she whispered softly in my ear. This is the type of family I wanted to be born into, not a stupid omega bloodline. Claude has
Claude’s POVThe past… July 2004I saw Victoria look up to the sky and noticed that the full moon shone brightly in the sky. I heaved a breath nervously and turned towards Victoria.“Are you ready? It’s time” I told her, holding her hands. We stood up and made our way to the circle where we are going to shift.“Where is she going to Alpha? Claude is meant to shift alone. It’s a tradition!” An elder asked my dad while referring to Victoria.“She is family and today is her birthday so I can assure you that nothing will go wrong so don’t be worried,” he said to the pack and they nodded.Victoria rubbed my hand in comfort and smiled which made me calm down a little bit. This is a huge deal for me because everyone is expecting much more from me since I am the soon-to-be Alpha. We were close to the circle when Victoria's hand left mine and she fell down to the ground. I bent to carry her up but she groaned in pain.“She is shifting” I heard someone whisper in the crowd and my eyes widened. A
