Everything happened like a movie in my eyes, my mind still lingering in the shock of it all. For a fleeting moment, I held unto Emilio, crying so bitterly on his bloody chest.

The wind grew fierce around us, howling loudly in my ear and blowing tendrils of my hair towards my face. Lightening flashed across the sky and thunder rumbled in the distant sky.

The storm started softly, but it didn’t take long before it became a tempest.

Emilio can't die! He can't leave me!

I straddled Emilio’s head in my lap, as the rain showed no signs of stopping. Each breath I took was a fight, a silent battle for survival. My tears joined the rain, both coming from a place of deep sadness.

As I held Emilio, a flood of memories filled my mind. Each one was a reminder of the life we were building and the dreams we still had. I couldn’t let those dreams die with him. The thought of a future without him, without his loving touch, was too much too bear. He was my peace.
