1 Chan walked aimlessly into the night. When the path ended at the sea, he also stopped. He was still wet and the cold breeze made him shiver. He walked along the beach for an unknown time hoping to make his brain go numb in the coldness. He knew Anaya was a hopeless case, but he didn’t expect Ameya to be also twisted at such a young age. The thoughts spiraled out of his control and ended in Jina. He realized that he had forgotten about Jina. He quickly hailed a cab and went home; hoping that she was already at home. When he reached Lilac mansion, it was already two in the morning. He first went to check the garage and found that none of the Shaws were back. He worried if that included Jina too. Chan then went into kitchen to get something to eat. He was starving from all the exhaustion and had started to sneeze from the cold. He got himself some milk and bread and went upstairs. Jina never used th
2 It irked Anaya, but she was more concerned with salvaging the situation, so ignored Ameya’s words. The party and further drama was all planned by Anaya. She had planned to make use of Chan and Ameya’s drunken actions as a reason to throw Chan out. Ameya was promised a role in an upcoming film if the plan succeeded. But who knew, Chan would react so harshly? He was so clear headed and decisive that Ameya didn’t even have a chance to kiss him properly. If Chan was even a bit hesitating, then Ameya would have taken it to the next level and then Anaya would make an issue out of it before anything happens. That was the plan, but everything flopped. “I should go back the next day itself. There is no way you would keep your promise after the plan failed, right? I should at least not miss my classes.” Ameya said with disappointment filled in her eyes. Keeping everything within the family was always the best. That’s why Ameya’s help was asked, instead of an outsider. But it rebounded. “
3 “I have something to discuss with you. When will you have time?” Jina was straight forward with her words. Though Chan had no idea what that was about, he still said, “Fine. But I won’t be free until evening. If it’s urgent, how about we talk on the way to the office?” “Okay. I will wait for you at the bus stop.” Jina said and walked downstairs. Chan hesitated for a moment and then went to have breakfast. Food was something Chan never wanted to miss. So he always tried to eat in time. As agreed, Jina was waiting for Chan at the bus stop. When the bus came they both got in. Jina sat at the last row and invited Chan to sit with her. Jina was sitting at the window seat and her hair was flying in the wind on to her face. In the morning sunlight Chan found that beautiful, but without any expression he sat next to her. “What’s going on between you and Ameya?” Jina asked without any delay. The question took Chan by surprise. “How did you know?” Chan asked in reply. “That’
Chan got off at the city hub and walked to the Lilac Works. On the way to the office he stopped to watch a huge building under construction. It was the tallest in the city and was under the final finishing works. It was rumored that the whole building was of a single corporation, but which, no one had any idea. Chan looked at the construction for a moment and then went to the office. Everything was normally running in the office, when Anna, secretary of Chairman Shaw ran over to Chan. Chan had admiration for Anna, who always wore an office suit, and a professional attitude. She was very diligent at her works and a good colleague too. So no matter what the task was going to be, Chan would comply at Anna’s request. “Are you busy now? If not, can you do me a favor?” Anna asked Chan in a pleading voice. Chan nodded at Anna, without much reaction. “Master Ahn has informed that he will be coming back in a few days. He will be accompanied by some business partners, so we need to prepare a
Chan was still recovering and days went by slowly in the Lilac mansion. He had his own room and Anaya and her mother’s maids took care of him meticulously. Lian Shaw informed Chan, that it was because of his fractured rib that Anaya wasn’t sleeping with him in his room, in afraid of hurting him. Everything went by smoothly and Chan enjoyed the king like treatment from everyone. In the blink of an eye, he became the young master of the Shaw family. The care and love from everyone made his recovery faster too.The mail notifications made Chan wake up from his memories. He kept back the envelope and photo back into his bag. Anna had sent her share of files. Other departments are going to take their time in preparing. Since the inspection was over, Chan wasn’t having any other immediate work other than what Anna had given him. So he went to get a cup of coffee from the café across their office. But to his surprise he saw Jina there.Jina had a meeting with Ron Hailey and both of them were
Except Jina, everyone was in utter shock. Jina kept looking at Chan and asked, “So, you are saying that, you aren’t Neil Lichen, but his assistant. According to you, it was us, who mistook you as Chan and it was our mistake to not look into who you really are.” Jina walked from behind the sofa and stood in front of Chan and continued, “Then explain why you were the one in the car that night Neil was meant to come to the Ochre city? And please explain why you had Neil’s identity card with your photo in it? Who are you in real? And who are you trying to fool?” Jina questioned him without any leeway and turned to sit at the single sofa nearby waiting for Chan to reply. It was then Shen Shaw grabbed on what on Jina had said. Whatever Jina said was true. He had seen his face in photographs before. How can they be so stupid to mistake someone else as Neil? After all Neil Lichen of Lichen Consortium was not some unknown person. Everyone knew how successful and powerful the young master of Li
Shen Shaw stammered upon speaking. He cleared his throat again and said to everyone, “I don’t remember seeing two cards that night. All I saw was of Neil’s. How can I mistake Neil’s and Chan’s photo and mistake him as Neil? I also don’t know how this happened.” Jina found that Shen Shaw’s words can’t bring a clear picture to the troubles present. She thought about the things again to find out where the loophole was. Clearly, someone was lying or someone did a blunder. It was then Chan spoke to Shen Shaw, “Of course, you wouldn’t have seen both cards. Neil’s card was in my pocket and my card was in the bag. You must have seen Neil’s card and mistook me as Neil. But then again, you all must have seen Neil’s pictures before. How can you not recognize between me and him?” Chan’s words made sense. Now everyone looked at Shen Shaw. Shen Shaw felt guilty and looked around to find an excuse for himself. In the dark night and tensed situation, he would have made the mistake. He started to bl
In Shen Shaw’s study, Lian Shaw and Anaya were staring at Shen Shaw with an urge to beat him up. Shen Shaw was thinking of a way to escape from his wife’s wrath as he knew it was him to blame now, for the blunder that happened. “Why are you not saying anything Shen? How are we going to solve this now? Do you have any idea, what kind of a mess you brought on our daughter? Will you open your mouth and say anything before I lose my patience completely?” Lian Shaw shouted at Shen Shaw after closing the door of the study room. “What should I say now? I did what you asked me to do. How can you just blame me for everything? I also didn’t know it wasn’t Neil. Even you and Anaya couldn’t recognize. Since it was your plan from the starting, why don’t you itself suggest a solution?” Shen Shaw passed the ball to Lian Shaw. Anaya, who was already brimming with anger on her own stupidity shouted, hearing her parents fight, “Will you two just shut up? I must have been momentarily stupid for believ
