Chapter 62

Ethan's P.O.V

The sound was coming from the bedroom, I was sure of this. I quietly stood up and tiptoed to where Brian slept on the couch. The man was in a sitting position, leaning back and was already fast asleep.

"Brian..." I called quietly with a little nudge and that was enough. The man opened his eyes immediately. His focus returned at once with urgency as if he was not even sleeping to begin with.

"Someone's coming." I whispered to him.

"Where?" Brian asked, his eyes darting around the dark room in alarm.

I pressed a finger to my lips and motioned to the bedroom. We had put the lights out before sleeping and the whole room was in darkness. Even as we listened, the window lock was unlocked with a soft click and our vigilant ears could hear the swishing of the intruder's clothes as they let themselves into the room.
