Chapter 7

Tang Ruochu left the office with Song Anyi in the evening.

When they parted ways at the entrance of their office, Song Anyi looked at Tang Ruochu in concern before she left and said, "Ruochu, do you want to stay over at my place for a couple of days?"

She didn't feel comfortable letting Tang Ruochu head back home since Tang Ruochu and Gu Ruoruo lived together in the same house and they would see each other on a regular basis. Gu Ruoruo was such a nasty person that there was no telling when she would strike again.

Tang Ruochu knew what her friend was worried about and she felt touched by her friend's gesture.

"Thanks for the offer, Anyi. But I'll be able to handle her," she said.

She was not afraid of someone like Gu Ruoruo.

She had also promised Lu Shijin that she would move in with him, so she should go home to make preparations for the move.

"But..." Song Anyi protested. However, she sighed when she saw the determination etched on Tang Ruochu's face and said, "All right, I won't force this issue since you've already made up your mind. Do remember to call me at the first instance if you need help, understand?"

...

"Yes," Tang Ruochu said.

"I'll get going. Get home safe," Song Anyi said.

"Yes, you too," Tang Ruochu replied.

Tang Ruochu didn't stay any longer after she parted ways with Song Anyi and turned to head home.

She had just taken a few steps when a luxurious high-end Maybach suddenly drove up from behind and came to a stop beside her.

The door opened. Mu Ling stepped out of the driver's seat and said respectfully, "Madam, Mr. Lu has invited you to join him in the car."

Tang Ruochu paused for a moment and turned to look in the direction that Mu Ling was pointing.

Then she saw Lu Shijin elegantly lounging against the backseat. As he looked at her through the car window, his expression seemed languid and relaxed.

Tang Ruochu nodded and got in the car. She sat beside Lu Shijin and there was a hint of confusion in her eyes as she asked, "Didn't you leave earlier?"

He had appeared at the Times Entertainment office without a word of warning an hour earlier and left soon after.

She assumed that he had left some time ago, so she was surprised to see him here.

"No, I was waiting for you," Lu Shijin said nonchalantly as he glanced at her. He sounded as though he had been waiting for some time.

...

Tang Ruochu was extremely surprised.

Had the noble Mr. Lu humbled himself to wait for her?

"Uh... is something wrong?" she hurriedly asked.

"No. Since it is our first marriage, I was wondering what you thought about our wedding night." Lu Shijin sounded very calm as though he was asking a very mundane question, but his words packed a punch.

...

Tang Ruochu was so shocked that she choked on her saliva and started to cough. "What... would I think? I... haven't thought about it. Why would you suddenly ask this question?" she sputtered.

Their marriage was based on a partnership, and they each had their own reasons for getting married. He needed to get married to appease his family while she was just looking for a man to marry.

They didn't have feelings for each other and they were just looking for someone to form a partnership with. Naturally, Tang Ruochu hadn't even thought about her wedding night, nor did she expect that Lu Shijin would think about their wedding night.

.... At least, this was based on her earlier assumptions!

"It wasn't easy for us to find each other, so I think that there shouldn't be any regrets on our wedding night," Lu Shijin said placidly and looked at her. A teasing glint flashed in his eyes, which were usually devoid of emotion.

...

"What do you mean?" Tang Ruochu exclaimed in shock.

...

She might have promised to be a good wife but that didn't include carrying out her marital duties. Could... he have interpreted her words wrong?

"What do you think?" Lu Shijin asked.

There was a faint smile on his face and his black eyes glowed like burning embers in the night.

Tang Ruochu's heart skipped a beat and she exclaimed in alarm, "How... how would I know? Mr. Lu, I'm surprised that you'd take such an interest in our wedding night."

Lu Shijin shrugged and his thin lips curved into a small smile as he said calmly, "I enjoy exploring new things. This marriage might seem like a formality to both of us, but I don't want my wedding night to be so uneventful... At the very least, we should have dinner to celebrate."

"Cough——"

Tang Ruochu suddenly started coughing uncontrollably as she choked on her saliva once again. "Were... were you thinking of dinner when you said that you didn't want to have any regrets on your wedding night?"

Lu Shijin looked at her intently, and there was a teasing glint in his dark eyes.

Tang Ruochu blushed furiously and it seemed like her cheeks were on fire when the man's sentences ended.

She was extremely embarrassed and wished that the floor would open up and swallow her.

She felt incredibly embarrassed!

Lu Shijin hadn't been referring to carrying out her marital duties at all. He was merely asking what she thought they should do on their wedding night.

She had misunderstood him and let her imagination go wild earlier.
