Chapter 7 The Jiangs' Attitude

While Jiang Liu had successfully become the replacement groom, the other stuff had been provided for by the Xies.

As such, he did not push his agenda. After coming to terms with Hua Sheng, he went away to settle some personal matters.

He then sent someone to fetch Hua Sheng back to the Jiang residence.

In reality, Jiang Liu seldom stayed in the family home. Usually, he spent his days in a 200-square-meter duplex apartment beside the office.

However, it was just a rental, and he believed that it would be more appropriate to bring his new-found wife back home first.

Within the guest hall of the hotel...

Jiang Liu's parents looked at him with a look of bewilderment; they had been waiting for a good explanation from him.

The young man loosened his tie and smiled.

"Dad, Mum, congrats...you just got yourself a daughter-in-law."

His parents were shocked to hear him.

"What a scene you just created... You were totally out of control," Old Man Jiang said as he pointed at his son. He felt that everything had happened too suddenly and that it had been concluded in a rather improper manner.

Madam Jiang looked worried as well. "Son, what's going on? This was supposed to be a marriage between the Xies and Huas... Why have we been dragged into their business?"

"Did you know that young girl before this?"

Old Man Jiang was the head of the family after all, and he had spent a long time in the business world. He felt that the marriage had happened too suddenly and that there was something not quite right about it.

Jiang Liu sat down on the sofa. He planted his hands beside his thighs and shook his head as he looked at his father.

"So... this is the first time you two have met?" his father continued asking.

Jiang Liu nodded.

"Ridiculous. It was foolish of you to agree to marry her the first time you two met! You haven't even got to know her... All right, since you've only made a verbal agreement, we can still remedy this. Go explain to the Huas and Xies that you acted to preserve their dignity and had no other choice. However, you'll never stand between another man and his love, so you'll leave them to settle their own mess they've created."

"Have you heard what your Dad just said? I agree with him... You should extricate yourself from this mess as soon as you can. I've noticed that news about the incident is beginning to grow, and I've sent people to give our official statement to the press. Our family hasn't been embroiled in any scandal before, and you shouldn't get involved in someone else's problem," Madam Jiang added, approving greatly of her husband's handling of the matter.

Their son had to give the media, the Huas, and the Xies an explanation.

He should tell them that he acted with the intention to preserve the dignities of the Huas and Xies, and that he did not know the Fifth Young Mistress at all. Most importantly, he would not recognize the preposterous marriage.

However... Jiang Liu had different ideas.

"Dad, Mom... I'm going to marry her. We've already agreed to officially register our marriage tomorrow," he said matter-of-factly.

The weight of his words stunned his parents once again...

What was he talking about? Not only was he not going to explain his actions to the media and the other two families, he had decided to marry the Fifth Young Mistress of the Hua Family... and they were going to get their marriage certificates tomorrow?

Madam Jiang got up to hold her son's hands; she was worried sick by now. "Don't be foolish, my son... Aren't you aware of your own status? How could you make such a major decision so haphazardly? Do you know that the Fifth Young Mistress of the Hua Family hasn't even been to school? Since young, she followed her grandmother up Mount Zhongcui and has led a monastic lifestyle ever since. She's the least favored daughter of the Huas and will never inherit their business; she's just a pawn used in an arranged marriage for leverage. Furthermore, she's just been pranked by the Second Young Master of the Xies. Think about it... he's such a crafty person, so how could he have been set up by his lover? He must have known about the leak to stop the marriage from going on. It's pretty obvious that he doesn't think highly of the young lady. How could a girl rejected by the Xies be worthy of my son?"

Jiang Liu was hugely influential. He was the sole inheritor of the Jiang empire, and he was second only to his father.

How could such a powerful young man even want to be with a wild, unwanted girl?
