Chapter 14 Aloof in Nature

"Your grandma is resting in the backyard. There's no hurry to see her... Sit down and have a few words with your sisters," Madam Hua said cheerfully as she got up, trying to smooth things over.

Also, she did not want Hua Sheng's attitude to cool down everyone's excitement.

In truth, Hua Sheng's indifference toward her family members would not affect them much. After all, she did not usually interact with them.

Hua Zhi, the third daughter of the Huas, looked impatiently at her watch, grabbed her coat, and headed toward the door. "I have an interview to go to in the afternoon. I need to get my makeup done in a while and won't be joining you guys for lunch."

She was a famous A-list celebrity who focused on films. Only producers with good backing worked with her.

It was for this reason that she was a little haughty and overbearing in nature.

She paused as she went past Hua Sheng. "We won't let Xie Dongyang's matter rest just like this, baby sister. I believe the vixen that hooked up with him is Liang Xiaoxiao, right? I'll make sure she gets kicked out of the entertainment industry. What a shameless slut."

Without even waiting for her sister to reply, the actress left like a gust of wind.

"Bring Jiang Liu over here for some tea, Sheng," Madam Hua said, all smiles.

"Do you like drinking tea?" Hua Sheng asked, turning around to glance at Jiang Liu.

"I'm fine with tea," he replied indifferently.

"Stay here and accompany them then. I'm going to check on Granny."

Hua Sheng got up and walked away without even turning back, not caring about how it would make her family seem to her "husband".

Jiang Liu had long heard about Hua Sheng's strained relationship with her family, but he did not expect her to be so distant from them.

She did not even bother to put up an appearance to outsiders that she was part of the Huas.

As their junior, he had to show his in-laws their due respect.

As such, he could only force himself to sit on the sofa and chat with the Huas.

The second daughter, Hua Qing, spoke up. "My baby sister has been spoiled by my grandmother. She lacks manners and is aloof in nature. I don't think she values the concept of family very much. You'll need time to get used to that, Young Master Jiang."

"Don't spout nonsense," Old Master Hua hurriedly tried to shush Hua Qing up.

"Aren't I right, Dad? Didn't you see how she behaved just now? She doesn't even treat her own sisters properly... In fact, she only treasures Grandma. It's just as well that she didn't marry into the Xie family. Otherwise, that bad-tempered Xie Dongyang would probably have ended up physically abusing her every day."

He smiled and carried on the conversation. "Sheng's character really suits my temperament, and my parents like her very much too. We don't find her aloof... As for Xie Dongyang, what sort of person he is has nothing to do with Sheng right now, nor in the future. If he dares to lay his hands on her, he'll be openly declaring war against me and my family."

His words made everyone turn silent. He was really looking out for Hua Sheng!

As far as they knew, Jiang Liu and Hua Sheng had never met before the wedding ceremony. Why was the heir of the Jiang empire so protective of her then?
