Chapter 19 Teary Confession

"Xie Dongyang's the unfortunate one; Hua Sheng is a very fine person."

Jiang Liu never judged other people easily.

When he did, he was usually spot on.

First, he made it clear that Xie Dongyang was unlucky for screwing up his own wedding.

Secondly, he was telling his friends that his wife was a great person, and that he was very pleased to have her as his partner.

Gao He spoke up impatiently before Qin Wanyu and Wang Junxian could react.

"Are you for real, brother? You needn't lie to us... I've heard rumors that the Fifth Young Mistress of the Huas is uneducated, has never been to school, and is not respected in her family. She was brought up into the hills by her grandmother at a young age for cultivation. How interesting can an uneducated person who is also a vegetarian be? Right, right... They're also saying that she stutters and can't speak coherently. Also, she's known to be extremely ugly. Would someone as crafty as Xie Dongyang allow news of his scandal to be leaked otherwise? He couldn't have fallen for his lover's trap that easily. He must have been disagreeable to the wedding and used her as an excuse to escape from the wedding."

Jiang Liu merely smiled in silence.

"Oh my god... Say something, brother. You're going to drive me insane with curiosity."

Gao He was growing even more impatient upon seeing Jiang Liu remain silent after all that questioning.

"Some truths are best left to those involved... Right, drink up! Didn't you people call me here to foot the bill?"

Jiang Liu changed the subject and did not bring up Hua Sheng again.

He was not indecisive by nature.

He was merely directing his friends to drink.

Qin Wanyu and Wang Junxian were smart people and did not continue questioning him.

They knew what sort of person Jiang Liu was. He would never have married an ugly, uneducated woman with a stuttering problem and brought her back to his parents!

He definitely wouldn't... And only he and Hua Sheng could have possibly known about what really happened behind the scenes that night.

Judging from Jiang Liu's character, he would never directly tell anyone else about such personal details.

The only way they could get Jiang Liu to talk about it was to wait until they met his wife personally.

Just at this moment, the doors of the room opened, and a young woman who was about 20 years of age walked in.

She wore a one-piece Chanel dress in the latest design that showed off her shoulders.

In her hands was a light blue Chanel bag, which had just been released.

Her haircut was perfectly done in the BOBO style, and her looks were exquisite.

She immediately took notice of Jiang Liu and companies upon entering the room and walked up to them.

"Brother Jiang Liu, I have something to tell you."

"Did I invite you, Song Meiqi? How dare you barge in here? You're still as rude as before..." Gao He chided her. He was at loggerheads with this woman.

They were classmates during their junior college days and never got along.

The Songs were also a reputable household, but they were not as outstanding as the Four Great Families.

Still, her family's wealth was not comparable to that of ordinary rich folk. Most importantly, Song Meiqi's mother was Xie Dongyang's maternal aunt.

The Songs leveraged this relationship between the two women to carve out a piece of the city for themselves.

"Get up. I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to Brother Jiang Liu."

Song Meiqi disliked Gao He as much as he hated her.

A few of the men looked directly at her. Her cheeks were slightly red, and her breath smelled a little of alcohol. She should have consumed quite a considerable amount of drink before stopping by.

Jiang Liu was his usual calm self. He was surfing the Weibo app on his phone.

He felt that the news about him and Hua Sheng was interesting and funny.

"Speak," he said without even lifting his head. He did not seem to have a good impression of the girl as well.

More importantly, they were not close enough for her to address him as her "brother". What was she thinking?

Song Meiqi bit her lips and steeled herself. "Brother Jiang Liu, you obviously know that I like you, so why did you marry that ugly Hua woman? How could you treat marriage as a joking matter? Can't you tell that even Brother Dongyang doesn't want her? Why does someone as respectable as yourself have to pick up a piece of trash like her?"
