Chapter 4

70 years later

                 Alia POV

Hearing my phone ring, I pick it up and look at the screen to see that it's BJ calling, causing a smile to spread across my face. It has been almost a year since we found each other, but I don't get to see him as much as I should and would like to.

"Hey," I answer the phone happy to hear from him.

"Hey, what are you up to?" Just the sound of his voice makes my stomach do flips. I get up and walk to my room door. I look out into the hallway of the packhouse to see my two personal guards that my father makes follow me everywhere standing on both sides of my room door, making sure to keep an eye on me.

"Do you need anything Alia?" One of my guards asks me.

"No I'm okay" I give him a smile before closing my room door and locking it. I walk into the bathroom closing the door behind me and locking it too.

"Nothing much just got back from a run," I tell him, taking a seat on the bathroom sink.

"Have you found anything yet?" He asks.

"No, I haven't been able to get away from my guards, but I'm going to sneak out tonight to search my father's office. I'm sure it has to be in there." I tell him whispering.

"I don't like you doing this. I do want you to get caught, Alia. There has to be another way." BJ tells me.

I let out a sigh. "There is no other way BJ, I have to find it tonight. The quicker I find it the quicker he can fix everything. I'm the alpha daughter so if I do get caught what's the worse that can happen, he's not going to hurt his baby girl." We have been trying to find the location of the lycan king every since BJ and I went to this party. We overheard one of the alphas drunk kids at the party talking about how the lycan king is locked away, and that only the firstborn alphas and the alpha king have the maps to the location where he is locked away.

Nobody at the party took the guy seriously, but you know what they say, a drunk man tells no lies. Many people say that the Lycan king is dead. There are many different stories about the Lycan King. Some of the stories say he was a good guy and others say he was this savage monster. It's so many different stories, so many wolves including myself who wasn't around durn the time of the lycan king think that he's only a legend and that most of the stories were made up to scare us as kids. But the things I have found out over the past few months prove that he's real and that the drunk male wasn't just talking nonsense.

They say there was once peace amongst the wolves, and we lived in peace with all the other supernatural creatures. But when word got out about the Lycan king being dead, some of the werewolves started breaking the laws that the Lycan king had set to keep the peace amongst the wolves, and with the other supernatural creatures.

With him not being there to uphold the law and keep the wolves in line, things started to fall apart. The wolves are out of control. Humans are even being killed by wolves. Instead of the alpha king getting the wolves under control, he just sits back and lets the wolves cause chaos amongst all the supernatural world. Now the vampires and wolves are at war again.

Instead of coming together to fight against the bloodsuckers, the packs are too busy fighting amongst ourselves. When we finding the Lycan king and set him free, he will bring order amongst the werewolves. Word has it that he ended the war between the wolves and vampires before hundreds of years ago. So I'm sure he can do it again before thousands of innocent people get killed.

"I'm not worried about your father hurting you if you are caught. But if you are caught your Father will know what you are up to, ruining the only chance of us being together without your father worrying about you and this stupid war between the wolves and vampires." I let out a sigh, knowing He's right since we're at war my father doesn't like me leaving our territory alone.

"BJ I will be careful, I won't get caught you have to trust me." I hate that he doesn't believe in me enough to do this.

"I do trust you, Alia," He tells me.

"Well stop trying to change the plan and let me find the map tonight. It's killing me not being able to be with you every day. You don't want to join a pack and as long as this war is going on my father will never let me leave the pack with you. You know he doesn't think you can protect me. I need to find it tonight." I tell him, needing to get this done. I'm tired of not being able to be with him. He's my mate and I should be able to see him whenever I want to.

I hear him let out a sigh on the other end of the phone. "Just be careful Alia, this will be the only chance we get." I hear a knock on the door.

"I have to go BJ, I will call you later," I tell him before ending the call. I frown, not wanting to get off the phone with him.

Leaving out of the bathroom I walk over, opening the door. "Your father would like to see you in his office." My guard tells me.

I make my way through the packhouse with my guards right behind me. As I walk into my father's office leaving my guards outside, I look over at my father sitting behind his desk filling out paperwork.

"Daddy I don't need guards following me around everywhere I go. I'm not a kid anymore, you can't keep me here." I tell him, slamming myself down into the chair in front of his desk, folding my arms across my chest, frowning over at him.

"I'm your father and it's my job to keep you safe even if I have to lock you in a cell. And you wouldn't have guards if you wouldn't sneak away for days at a time with BJ without telling anyone where you are. You know we are at war with the vampires and the Shadow Moon pack. I don't need to remind you, you know what would happen if those bloodsuckers caught you out somewhere unprotected." He says not looking up at me as he continues to fill out paperwork. We have this same argument almost every day. I snuck off a few times for days with BJ, so now he has guards following me around everywhere I go.

"Well that's not fair, you don't treat Josh this way." My brother gets to go and come as he, pleases

"Josh is an alpha male, you know that makes things different for him, but speaking of BJ." He says looking up at me. "That's why I call you in here. I would like to meet his family. I know that BJ is a human, but you should talk to him about joining the pack and living here in the packhouse. That way I don't have to worry about you sneaking away for days at a time. And you two can spend as much time together as you would like. You two just found each other, so I'm sure it's driving your wolf crazy not being around him all the time." He looks at me waiting for my answer.

"BJ don't feel comfortable being in a pack," I tell him, standing up from the chair. I walk over to the window and I let out a sigh, looking out at the pups playing in the pool.

I wish BJ would just join the pack so we can spend more time together, but he has his reasons for not wanting to join a pack.

"Why doesn't he want to join the pack? The other two humans here had no problems with joining the pack to be with their mates. This pack is your family and if he can't accept the pack I don't approve of you seeing him." I can hear the anger in his voice.

"Daddy I don't need your approval, it's not for you to decide. The moon goddess put us together." I hear a low growl come from him.

"If he ca-"

My brother and my father beta walk into the office stopping him from finishing whatever he was about to say. I unlock the window while my father was distracted by them entering his office. I will use the window to get into his office tonight.

"Father we caught two bloodsuckers on our land. We killed one but took the other one to the prison for questioning." My brother tells my father.

"We will speak more about this later Alia." He looks over at me before standing up from his seat.

Leaving out of my father's office I don't see my guards outside of the office anymore. I make my way to the kitchen to get me a snack, but stop once I see my Donna going up the stairs with tears running down her face. I frown and start to make my way up the stairs, following her scent leading me to her room. I knock on the door but get no answer. I twist the doorknob to find that it's not locked so I let myself in to see her laying on the bed with her face buried in a pillow crying.

I walk over and take a seat on the edge of the bed. "Donna, what's wrong?" I ask rubbing her back in a circular motion.

"What have I done to deserve this Alia?" She sits up, looking at me with tears staining her face.

"What have you done to deserve what Donna?" I ask her not knowing what she is talking about.

"I was on my way to the packhouse when this scent caught my wolf's attention, so I st-started to follow it. I followed it until I saw my father and your brother taking this vampire to the prison. The vampire is my mate. I-I couldn't do anything but stare into his eyes as they took him away." Her words come out in between sobs, this isn't good, not good at all.

Wolves and vampires being mates are rare but it does happen. The wolves will never accept a vampire into their pack and neither will the vampires accept a wolf into their coven. Neither of them wants someone who's mated to the enemy apart of their pack/coven so they both will be banished, becoming rogues.

Life as rogues will not be easy for them. They will have to be careful where they go because she will not be able to go where he is welcome because the vampires would kill her and he will not be allowed where she is welcome, because the wolves would kill him.

"I waited for this day to find my mate since I was a little girl, and now I will have to watch him die or live the life of a rogue. Why is the moon goddess punishing me? What have I done to deserve this?" I pull her into a hug, feeling her body shake as she crying into my shoulder. Seeing her like this brings tears to my eyes. She's the daughter of my father beta and my best friend. We have been best friends since we were pups. We always sit and talked about finding our mates.

"It's going to be okay Donna, I have a plan to fix everything." I rub her back as she continues to cry leaving my shirt wet with tears.

"How Alia, how are we going to fix this?" I can't just sit here and watch my best friend cry. I have to tell her, I have to let her know that I have a way to fix this and let her know that she and her mate will be able to be together.

"I'm going to tell you something, but you can't tell anyone about this do you understand?" She nods her head telling me that she understands. BJ won't be happy about me telling her, but she's my best friend and we can trust her.

"I'm going to free the Lycan king." I watch as a frown creeps onto her face.

"This situation could change my life forever and you want to sit here and tell stupid jokes about the Lycan king." She growls out, glaring at me.

"Donna I know that it sounds crazy, but he's real. The stories about him are real Donna. You are my best friend, I would never play such a cruel joke on you at a time like this." I frown, trying to convince her to believe me.

She sits her glaring at me for a moment longer, before her face expression softens, leaving her with a look of confusion.

"But the Lycan king is just a legend Alia, it's just a stupid story people made up." She wipes at her tears as they continue to make their way down her face.

"He's real Donna, at first I didn't believe it, but I promise you he's real." I had a hard time believing it, but the things I found out prove everything to be true.

"How can you be so sure that he's real?" she asks not sounding convinced.

"It's a lot to explain, I'll tell you everything soon. I just need you to trust me for now." She looks at me for a second before giving me a nod.

"I trust you but how will freeing the Lycan king help me?"

"When we free him he can put an end to all of this. We will be able to live in peace with the vampires and you and your mate could be together without having to fight everywhere you go." I tell her.

"I pray to the moon goddess that you are right about this Alia." She says sounding a bit more convinced.

"It's getting late, I will talk to you more about this tomorrow. I'm sure my guards are looking for me." I give her a hug before getting up leaving her room.

As I walk out of her room I let out a sigh, seeing my guards coming up the hallway. I make my way through the packhouse headed to my room with them right behind me. The packhouse is quiet, letting me know that the people living in the packhouse is getting ready for bed. Once I get to the hall where my room is located, I see my two night-shift guards, Max and Lester waiting at my room door. The two other guards walk off leaving me with them. I walk into my room going straight to the bathroom to call BJ to tell him about me telling Donna about our plan.

I put the phone to my ear, hearing it ring once then go to his voicemail. I try it again but get the voicemail. I leave out of the bathroom turning off all the lights in my room so my guards would think I'm going to bed. I sit here in the dark for a while, waiting for BJ to call back but he doesn't. When I'm sure everyone in the packhouse should be asleep. I get up and tiptoe over to the window and open it slowly.

I look out the window, my room is on the second floor it's nearly a fifty feet jump. I position myself outside of the window sitting on the edge. I jump landing on the soft grass with a low thump.

I take off in a light sprint towards my father's office. Once I get to his office window I look inside making sure no one is inside. I pushed up on the window praying that it's still unlocked. The window opens up and I quickly climb in.

Not wasting any time, I started going through all his files looking for anything about the lycan king. Twenty minutes of looking through all the files and I'm left empty-handed.

I started going through every part if his desk still nothing. I open the cabinet behind his desk and frown when I see a safe inside.

I look at the safe for a moment, trying to figure out the password, it shouldn't be too hard my father is a simple man. I type in my brother's birthday then pull, but it doesn't open. I try my birthday day, still nothing. I sit here thinking for a minute. I type in the day he and my mother met. I pull and the safe door opens.

I see a folder sitting there. I take it out of the safe and open it up. I look at the papers seeing things about the Lycan king. This is it, everything about the Lycan king is here. I started taking pictures with my phone. Once I was done I started to put the papers back into the folder, but stop when I start to hear footsteps outside of the door, causing me to freeze in place. Holding my breath, I silently pray to the moon goddess they don't come in here.

I see the doorknob twist, FUCK!!.....
