Chapter 6

             Jason Pov

Kimberly leaves the kitchen after placing her plate into the sink. "Bro, are you hitting that?" Brandon asks grinning, getting off the counter, and take the seat across from me where Kimberly was just sitting.

I shake my head, taking a sip from the water bottle. "I don't do humans. I found her getting attacked on the street the other night. She's just staying here until she finds a job." I tell him.

"She's a nice piece of ass, I'll definitely be hitting that if I was you, human or not." He smirks, reaching over grabbing one of the sausages off my plate, earning a low growl from me. I guess she's pretty, but I'm not into humans. "Have you ever slept with a human?" He asks taking a bite of the sausage in his hand.

"Yeah," I say as I continue to eat.

"How was it?" He asked with a raised brow.

"It's a bit different I guess. It's not like having sex with a she-wolf. You have to be gentle. Humans are fragile. Their skin isn't as tough as ours and their bones break easily." We could easily seriously hurt a human durn sex if we're too rough.

"Well I guess humans and I probably isn't a good mix when it comes to sex then, because I'm everything but gentle." He let out a low chuckle, putting the rest of the sausage into his mouth.

Once I finish eating, I walk over placing the plate into the sink, then wash my hands to get the sticky syrup off.

"Who's this?" Brandon ask.

I look back at him to see him going through my phone. I reach over slapping the side of his head.

"What I tell you about going through my phone." I glare over at him, grabbing the rag, drying my hands. No matter how many times I tell him to stop going through my things he never listens.

He let out a low growl, rubbing the side of his head. "You're going to stop abusing me, I'm going to kick your ass one of these days." He says, continuing to look through my phone.

I slap him upside his head again, causing him to wince at the pain.

"Stop going through my shit," I tell him again taking my phone from his hand.

"Whatever, I stopped by yesterday morning, but you weren't here." He gets up and walks over to the cupboard, grabbing a bag of chips.

"I went to see Luke so he can have a look at Ashley's file." I let out a sigh, running my fingers through my hair. Killing those rogues helped me release some of my pent up anger, but I won't be satisfied until I find the guy who's responsible for this and know why he did it.

"Why did you take her files to Luke?" Brandon asks with a raised brow, opening the bag of chips.

"Maybe he can find something I can't." Luke was always good at observation and analysis in school. The high school for alpha males that Luke and I went to wasn't your typical high school. We had subjects like math, science, etc.. but we also had other classes to teach up how to lead a strong pack.

A frown appears on Brandon's face. "The alpha son from the black moon pack is behind this. He's a weak alpha male who's hiding behind lies. Everyone knows he's still pissed about you nearly killing him. You should've been made him pay for this."

"I don't think he was behind this." I shake my head a little. Nothing led to him and I'm not going to take our pack into war with theirs if I'm not sure. I'll only be killing innocent people. I'm missing something and I'm hoping Luke can help me out. But if it does lead to him, I'll kill him for sure this time.

"Well did Luke find anything?" Brandon asks, leaning back against the counter.

"He hasn't gotten back to me about it yet." I know Luke is busy now that he's alpha of the pack, so I'm trying to be patient about it. Once he gets a chance to look at her files, he'll let me know if he finds something or not.

"Did you need something when You stopped by yesterday?" I take a seat back on the chair.

"Mom is taking me to her birth pack today for a party or something, so I can sniff around the females to see if my mate's there. She wants you to come along. There's a female there who has lost her mate." He tells me causing me to frown a little. Mother wants me to claim this female as a chosen mate. I will never love her. She could never compare to Ashley. She could never make me feel the way Ashley did.

"I'm not going, I'm not interested." I can mark this female and create a mate bond, but she wasn't made for me and I wasn't made for her.

"Well, you'll have to tell her that." He looks over at the clock. "She'll be here soon." He says putting another chip into his mouth.

I let out a sigh, knowing she's not going to take no for an answer. I get up, leaving the kitchen going into my room. I head into the bathroom to take a quick shower. I'm sure I reek of alcohol and I don't want mother to smell it on me. It will only cause her to look at me with pity.

After showering, I get dressed and leave the room to see my mother, Brianna, and Brandon waiting for me in the living room. Brianna runs over, wrapping her little arms around my legs, giving me a hug.

"Look." She pulling her pants leg up, showing me a bandaid on her knee. I kneel down to her level looking at it.

"How did this happen?" I ask.

"I fall, but I no cry." She smiles excitedly, causing me to let out a low chuckle. I place a kiss on her cheek, before standing back up.

"Hey, mother." I walk over placing a kiss on her cheek.

"Hey, baby." She gives me a warm smile. It's been a while since she smiled at me that way. I ignore it, knowing she's only smiling because she has hopes that I'll claim this female as a chosen mate.

We leave heading to the pack that my mother grew up in until she met my father and moved to his pack. I don't want to go, but I didn't feel like arguing with her about it.

"There's a female there who has lost her mate, Maybe you should get to know her." Mother say to me as she drives.

I let out a small sigh, knowing this conversation was coming.

"I'm not interested in her mother." I look over at her to see her smiling.

"How do you know you're not interested in her? You haven't even met her yet. She's a nice girl, just keep an open mind and don't turn her away before even getting to know her." She looks over at me. I give her a nod just to get her to drop the conversation. I have already made my mind up and I'm not interested in this female.

Once we get there we get out the car. The alpha comes out to greet us. "Hey Grace, how are you?" He gives my mother a friendly smile.

"I'm fine Marcus." Mother says returning the friendly smile. It's disrespectful to address an alpha or Luna without using their title, but they grew up together in this pack so they are good friends. They knew each other long before he was alpha of the pack and she was a Luna. "You remember my boys." Mother says smiling over at Brandon and me.

"You two have grown. You were barely above my waist last time you came here to visit." He holds his hand out, shaking Brandon and my hand. He holds eye contact with us both for a couple of seconds before looking away, treating us the same way he would any other alpha male.

Brandon and I aren't pups anymore, we're fully grown alpha males that could be a threat to him. He doesn't hold our gaze long enough to be a challenge, just long enough to let us know that this is his pack and he's the alpha here. Brandon is a second born, he's strong but he probably couldn't take this guy on in a fight and win, but this male would definitely have a problem on his hand in a fight with me.

"And what's your name missy?" He kneel down in front of Brianna, giving her a smile, holding his hand out.

"Brianna." She smiles placing her small hand in his, leaning up against the side of our mother.

"It's nice to meet you, Brianna." He slightly shaking her hand, before standing back up. "Well everyone's outback, you know the way." He says giving my mother another friendly smile.

Once we get out back I look around at all the people talking, dancing, eating, and messing around in the large pool. My eyes lock with the alpha's oldest son for a couple of seconds, before we both look away. Luke and I went to school with him. We never really spoke, we pretty much stayed out each other way.

"Smell anything?" I ask Brandon, standing next to me.

His nose flares a little, sniffing for his mate. He shaking his head. "Nah, but I do see a bunch of hot females." He smirks, looking around. I shake my head a little and watch him walk over and start talking to one of the females.

"Jason." My mother calls my name, waving me over to her. I let out a sigh, making my way over to her, starting to regret coming here.

"This is Ricky and his daughter May." Mother says smiling. I hold back a sigh of irritation, reaching out shaking Ricky's hand. I look over at May, giving her a small smile. "Well, we'll leave you two to talk." Mother rub my back before walking away with Ricky.

I let out a small sigh, looking at the female. "I'm Jason." I break the silence, not wanting to just stand here awkwardly not saying anything.

"I know, my father told me about you." She looks at me for a second before lowering her eyes, showing me respect as an alpha. "I don't mean to sound rude, but I'm not really looking for....anything. You're a strong alpha and I'm just.....me. You don't have to waste your time with me. I'm sure some of the other females here are waiting to have your attention." She looks over behind me, frowning a little. I look back, following her gaze to see a few females talking and giggling as they smile over at me.

I guess she feels the same way as me. I'm not interested in her or any other female here. I guess her father and my mother thought it would be a good idea to try and pair us together.

"That's fine because I'm not looking for anything either. Can you do me a favor and keep me company while I'm here so I won't have to talk to anyone else?" She looks at me for a second before glancing back over at the females. She let out a low chuckle, giving me a nod.

I keep May close, talking to her the whole time to keep the other females away. Mother was right, May is a nice girl but in a friendly way. I don't really know anything about May, but it's easy to talk and connect with her. She understands what it's like to lose the person you love more than anything.

May told me about some oracle that she went to see after losing her mate. She thinks that the oracle could help me and maybe give me the answers I'm looking for. I have never been the one to believe in the crap oracles tell. I think they are just a bunch of crazy people, but at this point, I'll give anything a try to find the answers I need.

It started to get late once the party finally ends. Once mother says her goodbyes to all her childhood friends, we leave.

"What do you think about May, you guys were together the whole time." Mother ask, looking over at me.

"She's nice." May and I click on a friend level. We both have something in common that we can talk to each other about, something we both can understand. Neither one of us is looking to claim and mark someone as our mate. We exchange numbers and I'm sure we'll hang out again, but as friends.

"Do you think she's pretty?" Mother asks smiling.

I let out a sigh of irritation. "She pretty mother, but I'm only interested in her as a friend." I know mother only wants to see me happy again, but I don't need her help.

"Maybe your friendship could blossom into something more serious over time." She says trying to make something out of this.

I let out another sigh of irritation. "Maybe," I say to please her. I've learned that agreeing with her is an easy way to get her to drop things.

Once I get back to my place, I walk into my condo to see Kimberly sitting on the couch in the living room watching tv again.
