Triniti

Today was the day I started my job as a psychologist at the new asylum. I have been looking forward to doing this ever since I found out about me being transferred to it. As I followed the directions to the place, I also had Erika keeping me company as well.

“ I wonder what Dr. Martin looks like.” She said to me as I followed the GPS direction.

“ He’s definitely not ugly." I admitted to her, smiling because of the gasping sound she made into the phone.

             “ You met him?!”

I laughed into the phone and looked around my area. It was nothing, but a bunch of trees. Confused, I looked at the screen on my phone, and the GPS was telling me to continue up ahead.

“ Erika, let me call you back.” I said into the phone.

“ Alright, girl.” She said, and hung up.

I plugged my phone into the speaker and placed it in the cup holder. I continued to drive straight, following my GPS’s route.

“ Keep straight for five and a half miles.” My GPS told me.

I swore yesterday, I had to go a different route, and it was a lot faster. I don’t know what was going on, but I just followed the directions that the GPS provided me with. I looked around, hoping to see a car or people, but there was nobody there. This area was so deserted, and it was giving me the creeps. I sighed, praying to myself that there will be at least someone that I will run into while I was on this road. However, my prayer was not answered. When I drove further down the road, my GPS began to act up. When I picked up my phone, the GPS stated that it lost the route.

“ What the hell?” I whispered softly to myself.

I tried to force close the app to my GPS, but a loud noise startled me from my phone. Panicking, I restarted my phone as fast as I could. The phone finally turned off, and I sighed with relief. That shit scared the hell out of me. However, that was not the terrifying part. Driving further into an unknown area, a pop sound came from the car. I ended up getting a flat tire. I gasped as I tried to control the car as best as I could. Pulling up to the right side of the road, I turned the car off and sat there in the driver seat, trying to catch my breath. Today was not my fucking day.

“ Holy shit!” I shouted, pressing my hand against my chest.

Boy, my heart was beating real fast. I never had a flat tire before, so this happening to me now was a very terrifying experience. Plus, the way the car was swerving, didn’t make it any better. I hopped out the car and walked to the trunk part. Dad told me that he put a spare tire in the back of the car before he had the car shipped out here. I opened the trunk door and looked under the rug that was placed in the back. A smile had formed on my face when I saw the tire and the tools in the back.

But, of course, my happiness was killed when I reminded myself that I have never changed a flat tire.

“ Just great.” I slammed the trunk door and was on my way back to the driver’s seat when something caught my eye. I see why I caught a flat. Sticking out of my tire was a metal rod. This is something that wouldn’t bother me because I’m used to seeing people drop dumb shit on the road. However, the way the metal rod was inserted through my tire looked like someone did it on purpose. Looking around, I didn’t see anybody that could’ve done this.

My eyes did catch a sign, read “the Bayou." I walked over to the sign and looked around once before heading in. As I followed the path, I could not help, but to feel uncomfortable. The swampy area gave me the chills. Like I was in a horror movie.

The area was wet. Every step I took, I was able to hear and even feel the squishy grass and soil beneath me. It made me cringe. It even made me stop and turn back around. I needed to leave, anyways. This was an unfamiliar area in my eyes. As I was turning around, I got the biggest scare of my life. A loud scream escaped my mouth before I quickly covered it with both of my hands. Standing behind me was a tall male with big golden-brown eyes. I backed away from him immediately, my mouth still covered. But each time I would step back, he would come forward.

“ Please don’t do that.” I pleaded removing my hands from over my mouth and avoiding eye contact with him.

“ What the hell are you doing here?!” He shouted, causing me to jump.

“ I… I.” I stuttered badly and I never done that in front of any guy before.

“ Well?” He asked, rushing me to answer.

I heard more footsteps coming, and I turned to see a group of tall individuals surrounding me. This was making me so uncomfortable, especially when another guy approached me.

“ You shouldn’t be here!” He shouted at me as well. “ This place is off-limits!”

     “ I.. I didn’t know.” ,” I whispered. “ I never meant to come here.”

“ Now, you know.” He said with an attitude. “ Now leave before I force you out.”

I didn’t budge quick enough because he got closer to me and bent down so his eyes could meet mine. I swear his eyes were gorgeous, but other than that, he was scary.

“ NOW!!!!” He shouted, and I did exactly that.

I tried to go back to the path I came from, but the path was blocked off by a familiar face. I sighed with relief when I recognized Janelle, Erika’s boss.

“ Still an asshole, James?” Janelle asked. “ Did you ask her why she was here, or you don’t care?”

“ I don’t fucking care!” James growled at her.

If she didn’t jump, I sure as hell did. His voice had a lot of bass in it, and it boomed every time he shouted.

“ Why are you here?” Janelle turned her attention back to me.

“ My GPS malfunctioned on me.” ,” I explained, still keeping my eye on this James person. “ I was on my way to the Bayou Asylum, the new place that just opened up.”

“ Everybody knows there’s no service here, girl.” James said, still glaring at me.

    “ I’m not from here.” I told him. “ I’m from California.”

“I don’t give a damn where you are from.” James told me. “All I know is that you need to fucking go.”

    “I can’t leave.” I announced. “ My car caught a flat.”

“You don’t know how to change a flat tire?” James asked.

“I’ll help you.” Janelle said, turning around to leave. “ Seth and Dominic, come with me.”

I followed Janelle back through the path that I took. The guys she called before she left passed me up and walked on the side of Janelle. As they walked ahead of me, I was trying to figure out where I heard the men's names from. The guy that I ran into first, pulled his hoodie over his and instantly I knew who he was, Seth included. They were the ones that were being harrassed by the cops at the bar. Dominic walked around the car while Seth opened the trunk door.

I walked around the car to where Dominic was and watched him. He was staring at the tire with the metal rod sticking out of it. He turned around and looked across the street. I followed his gaze and didn’t see anything but tall trees and bushes. When I turned my attention back to him, he was staring at me. His golden-brown eyes were so mesmerizing, I couldn’t help but to stare back at him. He made me really nervous, like a good nervous. I looked away as soon as I saw Seth appear. He dropped the tire next to Dominic along with the tools and looked at the flat tire, then his eyes adverted to mine.

“ Are you sure you don’t have enemies?” Seth asked me, his golden-brown eyes looking around the area like Dominic did.

“ I just moved out here.” I told them once more. “ I don’t know anybody out here.”

“ That’s not a regular flat tire, baby girl.” Seth told me. “ Someone wanted you to be stuck out here.”

Janelle walked over to where Seth and Dominic were and stood there with her arms crossed.

“ I think I might know why this happened to you.” Janelle stated. “ Whose car is this?”

“ Well, it was my father’s, but he gave it to me for keeps so I can have transportation back and forth from work.” I told her.

“ And who is your father?” She asked.

       “ Um, Eric.”

“ Eric What?” Seth asked, eyes squinting at me.

“ Eric Moore.” I told him.

Dominic laughed, and I looked at him with confusion.

“ You’re a fucking Moore?” Seth asked, leaning against my car. “ Holy shit!”

“ Is there a problem?” I asked, getting nervous. “ How do you know my dad?”

“ You don’t look like him, though.” Janelle said.

“ I was going to say the same thing.” Dominic said.

Seth began working on my flat. Janelle stood there, staring at me.

“ I’m actually the adopted daughter of Eric Moore.” I announced to them.

“ Oh.” Janelle said, uncrossing her arms.

Seth handed her the damaged tire, and she took it with no problem. She went to the back of my car and placed it where the spare tire was located. She slammed the door shut and walked back to us.

“ So, I take it you don’t know about your daddy’s history?” Seth asked with sarcasm.

“ If you know, please enlighten me.” I told him. “ He never talks about his job.”

“ Well, you are the adopted daughter.” Dominic said, and Seth laughed while screwing the tire in place.

“ Stop being rude.” Janelle ordered.

Seth got up from the ground, lowered the car, and gathered all the tools up. He handed the tools to Dominic, and he left to put them up.

“ You’re all set.” Seth said, pointing to the tire.

“ Thank you so much.” I told them. “ I really appreciate it.”

“ No problem.” Seth said and walked off.

Janelle walked over to me, and I gave her a small smile.

“ Don’t come back over here.” She warned me, and I nodded.

“ Like I told you before, I didn’t mean to come here.” ,” I said.

“ I understand, but I’m letting you know.”

I nodded my head and walked to the front of my car. I watched her leave and opened the door to my car, only for it to get shut closed again by someone’s hand. I turned around and saw Dominic standing close to me. He pressed himself against me, and I was forced against the car door. Oh my gosh, he smelt so damn good like Irish Spring soap. He bent down a little bit to where his eyes matched mine, then he moved closer to my ear.

“ Don’t tell anybody about this place.” He whispered to me, sending chills down my spine as his lips pressed against my ear. “ Let me find out you did and they aren’t the ones you would have to worry about. Do you understand me?”

I felt his lips against my neck, sending chills down my spine. A soft moan escaped from my mouth, my body wanting more of him. He backed up and walked off, leaving me there, wanting more of his touch and his body being pressed against mines. I’ve never been this close to a guy like this before, but now that I have, it left me craving more of it. I wanted more from this Dominic guy.

I hopped in the car and checked my phone on that was still in the cup holder. This was my first day, and I was already late. This day can’t get any worse. I started my car and continued down the road until I was able to get service and the right GPS route.

❤️

“ An hour late on your first day.” Dr. Martin said, walking in front of me down the hall.

“ Please forgive me.” I apologized, following right behind him. “ I had car trouble, and I had to get someone to fix the flat.”

I could tell he was upset. I didn’t blame him, though. It was my fault that I was late. My dumb ass car catching a flat had to happen on this damn day.

“ I’ll make up for lost time.” I said, and he stopped in front of me.

“ I know you will.” He said, turning his attention to me. “ Because you were late, today you will work at night.”

Why did this not surprise me? I sighed before nodding my head, accepting the nighttime shift he just threw at me.

“ Yes, Dr. Martin.” I said, and he opened the door to the first room, which had the sign “Room A- Psychologist” on it. “ This is your office.”

He opened the door wide enough for me to go through, and then he followed right behind me. The room was covered in white paint, but that’s what I would expect when you’re doing a job like what I’m doing. There were beautiful pictures on the wall that made the room feel a little more home-like. I looked at the brown leather couch that they placed in here along with the brown coffee table. A brown leather chair was added as well. It sat on the opposite side of the couch and the coffee table. There was a desk against the window that had folders and other office supplies sitting on it.

“ We set everything up for you.” He told me as I walked around, admiring the whole room. “ We will be busy today, so I suggest you get started on those folders I left on the table for you. Each folder has patients’ information in it.”

I turned around to face him as he explained everything to me.

“ There will be ten patients coming in today. Since you are the only psychologist here, you will be swamped with work.”

“ I’ll definitely get started then.” I told him. “ Thank you so much.”

He nodded his head before exiting the room, closing the door right behind him. I headed over to the table and took a seat on the wooden chair that was placed in front of the desk. He made sure I had everything: pencils, pens and even notebooks.

“ Let’s do this.” I whispered to myself.

Picking up one of the folders, I began to read about the patients I will get to know.
