Chapter 57

Rashidat watched as the woman knelt down, holding the soaked cloth in between her palms. She was positioned in a way that as she held the cloth, the blood that dripped from it, dropped on the dead man's forehead and all the way to his lips. 

She threw her head back and began to chant in a foreign language.

It started really softly at first, but then it intensified as her voice grew stronger and louder. The candlelight began to flicker.

The woman did not stop. As she continued, Rashidat thought she saw the shadow of someone bypassed her...her heart ceased. She intensified her gaze and realized it was nothing.

As the woman continued. Another shadow ran across the room and a mighty wind started, scattering everything in the room.

Amidst this noise, Rashidat began to hear lots of strange voices, some were loud, some were just whispers. She couldn't pick anything but she heard a faint voice, calling, her name.
