Part 6

Lia’s POV

I tried and failed not to tap my foot impatiently as I was not alone in the lift. The old couple looked back at me and muttered. I could not catch it but heard words like 'Young People' and 'No Patience.' God! It was taking forever to reach the floor.

Finally, after what seemed to be like hours, I entered the floor. There was no difficulty in finding the Suite as it was the only room on the entire floor. I took a deep breath and pressed the calling button before I chicken out. And I did not expect the person when the door opened.

Whoa! If this is Lucian Alastair, then the film and magazines have not done any justice at all. I saw a fine specimen of almost 6 feet. His hair was black and sticking up attractively, and so his dark eyes. God! Girls would die to get such eyelashes. And did I miss out on the perfect jawline and the lips? The black Khaki and white button-up shirt hugged him perfectly. He was standing stiff with his hand still on the doorknob.

I saw him looking at me with recognition, surprise, and disgust. Wait! Did I say surprise? Did he know me? Had we met anywhere? I was confused about the thoughts and realized that his face became blank and wiped out all emotions again. I blushed when I realized that I am still staring at him and cleared my throat. When I was about to open my mouth, he signaled me to enter the room. But he should not have expected me, right? Then why was he asking me to come in without questioning me? Not to lose the opportunity, I stepped inside.

I was in the living room, which would be perfect for any business meeting. I saw an open space towards the end of the room, which showed the entire view of the city. I saw a dining place and a bedroom on the other side. I snapped out from admiring the interior when I heard a click and turned to see Mr. Alastair closing the door. But why is locking and stowing the key in? Was he not going to wait for whoever is about to come? Or did he booked the room for any other purposes and mistook me? I took a step back unconsciously at these thoughts.

Luc' POV:

I heard the sound of the calling button immediately after James disconnected the call. Should I open the door, and should I wait till James's arrival? Why was I afraid of a mere gold digger? I decided to deal with her not waiting for James, which I may regret later. And I did not expect the person when the door opened.

I was shocked to see the female standing in front of me. Wasn't she the same one in the restaurant who kindly helped a waiter? Wasn't she the one with a lovely smile? But was it all a mere act? Was she in the same place when I had both the calls? That's how she was able to tell about my actions. She was also like all females, but with an angelic face. And I thought, no hoped she might be

I snapped out of my thoughts and saw her looking at me open-mouthed. I saw her blushing getting caught. She blushes easily for someone for a gold digger. I realized my mistake and wiped all the emotions from my face. I heard her clear her throat, and that mere action created some reactions in me. Why was I so stupid to fall for that? When I saw her trying to initiate a conversation, I signaled her to enter the room.

I mentally counted ten to one to control my temper. I should be stupid to feel angry for some female. What was happening to you, Lucian? Once I calmed myself, I turned to check on her. She was checking on the interior and saw her eyes trailing from the open terrace to the bedroom. My eyes narrowed o the way she checked on the rooms. Two can play the same game, my dear.

I decided and locked the door stowing the key away. And the sound made her turn. I saw her face changing from puzzlement to shock. Why was she acting still? I sat on a couch and signaled her to do the same. I saw her hesitating a second but followed me. I tensed, seeing her taking out some papers. Were those the pieces of evidence she was talking about? But let's see what she was going to say.

"Mr. Alastair, I was trying to reach you for the past ten days. I know this is not an appropriate way, but please pardon me for that."

Excellent start, but why the big act still. It was getting annoying.

"Nice start, sweetheart. I almost fell into your trap. I should say your attempt to catch me had worked so far."

I could see a very evident confusion on her face.

"Mr. Alastair, I am not able to follow you. I can understand that you are angry with me to barge on your time, but please give me 10 minutes to explain."

"Angry is a very soft word for me at this minute. And to tell you, whatever piece of crap you are about to show me will never work out. But I would like to see you try."

She closed her briefcase and glared at me furiously. I saw her getting up, closed her eyes for a moment, and looked at me.

"It was a big mistake for me to come here. I thought that I could try to convince you of my point, but you are not worth it. So, if you open the door, I will take leave."

"Oh no! Not so easily, darling. It would be best if you learned never to play with me. In fact, you should never play with anyone in the future."

She was now getting panicked. I could now see that she realized the seriousness. But the way she still portraying the confused girl act irritated me.

With a smirk, I took strides towards her. "You should learn that stalking and blackmailing someone will never get anything for you."

The confusion was very much evident in her eyes now. Cut the act, please.

"Be happy that you are dealing with me alone and the cops were not involved."

"But.. But.." her stuttering and fear evoked some other reaction in me, and it was not victorious. I was disgusted on myself to feel for such a low life.

"Please, you are making a big mistake. I am not the person whom you are thinking. Let me go."

I felt a moment of sympathy seeing her fearful eyes. But all phone calls and Jake's photo angered me again.

I slowly advanced her retreating figure. In another two steps, she will hit the wall and would have nowhere to go.

I pinned her with the wall and arrested her with my hands on either side of her face. My hands itched to caress the soft cheeks. I never stopped till I was mere inches from her face.

And then I made a big mistake. My eyes landed on her full lips. As a chain reaction to my action, she licked her lips. I saw her Adam's apple bobbed up and slid back in her slender neck. My eyes darkened in desire.

Then I asked, "So... Shall we start as you asked me to do?" My voice was unusually husky, and I ripped her tops open.

'Smack' I heard the slap before my head snapped back. I felt the stinging sensation on my cheeks, realizing she hit me.

I threw her over my shoulders, ignoring her kicks and shout, and dropped her on the bed inside. When I saw her trying to escape, I grabbed her ankle with a smirk. I could see her shaking in fear.

Unknown POV

I smugly reached the reception. So far, so good. After tonight Luc will be mine permanently. I could see the receptionist giving me a fake smile.

"I have an appointment with Mr. Lucian Alastair. Can you guide me to his room, please?"

I saw the confusion in the eyes. "I am sorry, ma'am. But there is no guest named Lucian Alastair staying here."

"You should have been mistaken. I have an appointment booked with Luc... Mr. Alastair today at 8:00 pm. Or can you check if the room had been booked under James Witherlow"

I got irritated at her fake smile. Cut the crap, will you? She again checked her system and shook her head. "I am sorry, ma'am. No rooms had been booked under such name."

I felt betrayed. Lucian, you should be either extraordinarily bold or foolish not taking me seriously. I dialed his number.

Receptionist POV:

Once the lady walked away trying to reach someone over the phone, I dialed the instructed number again. In the third ring, I heard "James."

"Sir, A lady just walked in asking for Mr. Alastair's room. As instructed, we have told that no one was staying in such name. She then checked if the room was booked under the name of Mr. James Witherlow."

I heard a few curses. "Thank you. Please call me in case of anyone reaches for Mr. Alastair."

I was sure that something was going on.

*************************

Luc's POV:

She tried to escape me, but I would not leave her so quickly. Then my phone buzzed. I knew it was James as he told me he would be coming up. I almost ignored it for a moment, and my hold slacked once my eyes hit the screen. How come she was calling me if she was in front of me?

"Lucian Alastair"

"I know it is you, Lucian. What games are you playing with me? Are you still going to avoid me even after seeing the picture?"

I could hear the same voice that taunted me for almost a week was shouting at me. If I listen to the voice over the phone, then who was here with me? I saw the girl in front of me was trying to get away from me. What had I done? But how did she knew about me being here? More critical, who was she?

I snapped back to reality when the voice was still shouting at me. ".... are extremely stupid. I will show you what I can do." And the call got disconnected.

"Pl... Pl... Please leave me. I never knew that trying for a contract is this bad." Only after I heard the sobs, I understood that I was still holding her. I released her immediately.

"Who are you?"

"Just don't hurt me, please."

"I am sorry. But how did you know that I am here."

"Please let me go..."

I then realized she was in shock and did not able to process whatever I was saying. I shook her shoulders, and that made her jerked back out of her trance.

"I am sorry. All this was a mistake. I am not going to hurt you. You can go."

She never moved, and I became suspicious again. "Why are you not leaving?" I questioned her.

She looked at me as if I lost my mind. "One, you have locked the door. Two, you have torn my dress beyond repair. Are you expecting me to go out half-naked?"

I then saw her dress hanging open, and yes, it was beyond repair. I sighed at myself. I need to control my temper. Without a second thought, I took off my shirt and gave it to her.

"Here, wear it. I will ask my assistant to bring one for me. Please leave now."

She did not need any second note. Immediately she scrambled, wearing my shirt. I should say mine looked good on her than me. God, Lucian, get a grip.

I opened the main door, and suddenly we were blinded by a series of flash. Out of instinct, I shield her from whatever the lights were. I then saw James running towards me and trying to drive away from the people out of there. Wait! Were those cameras? Heck, this was getting more complicated than I thought. By the time I grasped the situation, I see the girl running towards the elevator.
