Chapter 0 (Yet Another Beginning)

I think I found the culprit.

I could have said no when he asked me to do the damn thing, but the nagging voice at the back of my head that thirsts for adventure made me say yes. People might say I was stupid for all the decisions I made in my lifetime, and I couldn't reason against them. I guess it was because people have the right to their own opinions. Sometimes we do things simply because we wanted to do them; because humans are all born stupid.

I looked at the clock on the wall above the TV-- just the exact time-- then I stepped my foot forward to get my right ear glued to the door, noises just outside the hall. I sighed, preparing myself for what was about to happen. I swallowed the imaginary lump building upon my throat then headed for the lights. I switched them all off, leaving my computer the only source of lighting. Adjusting my eyes with the darkened surroundings, I followed the dim glow of the computer to my room and I sat down in front of it. I let out another heavy sigh as I watched the people on the screen. Trying my best not to have second thoughts about the decisions I made-- I wanted answers for all of my tormented nights and that was it-- though I knew it was too late for me to contemplate about the matter at hand then. Everything was set in place; the cameras were already rolling capturing the action. I knew it was crazy but it was also the only way.

Bang!

The loud sound made me jumped on my seat. The door that I just double-locked mere minutes ago flew wide open, giving way to sets of soft marching feet. Hushed voices filled the quiet place. I stiffened, not able to move a muscle in my position, trying my hardest to listen for their movements. I grew impatient as slamming doors followed their wake, finding the occupant of the intruded apartment. Finally, the last door that they would open; two uniformed men greeted me with a snarled look. I met their glare with equal measure as one flashed a light on my face and the other held a gun to my head.

I should have been afraid; I could have run the moment I heard their marching footfalls outside the apartment or the least when I saw their image on my security cameras. If only I wasn't expecting them, if it was just all mere coincidence, I would have.

"I think I found the culprit! Don't move! Stay in your position!" One of the two officers shouted as I pushed the chair, I was sitting in to stand up. "I said stay in your position!" I dismissed his erratic order, keeping a deaf ear. I continued my act. The two stepped closer to me with the still steady aim on my skull. And without batting an eyelash I raised both my hands, surrendering, smiling sugary sweet.

Closer, closer, and closer they came until I was within their reach. The bigger between the two, the one with the gun kicked the seat I just vacated consequently with an umph he pinned my body to the carpeted floor rather too harshly. My arms were both twisted to my back, refraining them from my usage.

"Be gentle, it's a kid! Damn, I never thought it was a kid, I'm sure as hell that--" The other one said, stopping amid of his comment, giving me a sympathetic eye.

"That what? That it's a monster? This is no kid! But a demon! Bombing three buildings? That is...shut up man! This is no kid. THIS IS A MONSTER!" The man who got me under my grip was only fueled with more anger. He banged my head on the floor, leaving my ears with a tingling sound. He hated me and I knew he wasn't done yet, another ringing came

Pain it caused me and I grunted, "I'm not fighting man."

I got no response, as if talking to the air, the man continued to treat me rough. Cold metal made contact with my bare wrist as I was cuffed. "I don't care...I won't ever treat you human! You do not deserve to be treated like a human!" He stopped, making his head closer to my ears so that he could whisper in them. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?"

"Sure. You're an asshole, you know that man? Ugh!" I grunted again. The man pulled me to my feet. Clicking sounds erupted, the lights were turned on making my sight go blind.

"Declan Oliver, you are under arrest for use of a weapon of mass destruction, conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, destruction with the use of explosives, and sixteen counts of first-degree murder."
