Chapter 08

Jordan, Riley, and Michael stood in the parking lot, waiting for Adrian. Jordan had forgotten to ask for Adrian’s address.

When Adrian walked near to his car, Michael and Riley moved away from there to give them some privacy. Jordan smiled at Adrian and said, “I forgot to ask your address.”

The smile which Jordan gave to him, Adrian felt this girl could be his death. Riley and Michael kept staring at them. Adrian wondered if Riley had informed Jordan about his staring at her friend.

Adrian gives his address and phone number to Jordan. He knew she has lived in this city for the most part of her life and is aware of the landmarks. He just wanted to give his number to her. Lowkey hoping she would perhaps message or call him, anytime.

Adrian was filling Aaron’s plate with snacks when the doorbell rings. He already knew who was at the door. So he held the plate in front of Aaron and the little boy grabs it. Adrian gets to the door. There she stood, his girl, he thought. Mentally slapping himself for even thinking that way.

She was wearing jeans and a kaftan top. And she had left her hair free. She looked too pure for her own good. Adrian welcomed her in.

Aaron came running towards them and he hugged Jordan’s legs. She squatted down to his level and returned his hug. She carried him in her arms and the little boy didn’t leave the chance to snuggle close to her and laid his head on her shoulder.

“Come in,” Adrian interrupted them and showed her the way towards his study room. She followed him in, with Aaron still in her arms.

“Now champ, you should go out and watch TV or play by yourself for some time,” Adrian said to his son, as softly as possible. Things can get backfired at him with his son if he ordered him to do things. Little Aaron held some authority.

Aaron shook his head a no-no. When Adrian was about to give a reply, Jordan interrupted, “You wanna study with me?”

“Me! Me!” he got down from her arms and ran to his room and came back with his coloring books and crayons. Adrian had caught on his son’s interest in colors when he was a year old and encouraged him.

Adrian got the high chair and helped his son to get settled on it. Aaron was quick to open the book and crayons.

Jordan looked at him and said, “I didn’t know he could color.”

“He loves it,” Adrian said to her and she gave an understanding nod. And it was time for them to get to their original agenda. They only brushed up the basics since it was the first class.

They wrapped up the class after 2 hrs.

“Would you like to have something?” Adrian asked her wondering if she was tired.

“Hot Chocolate!” she said hesitantly.

Aaron heads to the living room and switches on the TV. Adrian thought Jordan had followed his son to the living room. But, she was standing at the entrance of the kitchen. Adrian didn’t realize her presence until he turned to get something from the refrigerator.

“You should stop staring at me,” he said to her while he prepared their cups.

“I wish I could control my eyes,” she said. He stared at her for a few moments before getting back to the Hot Chocolate.

“I meant it,” he said without looking at her.

“Huh?” she realized after a few seconds and nods. He gave her the cup and they walk towards the living room.

“What about your wife?” she asked.

Adrian knew he had to tell her something for now. A bit of truth at the least.

“She is not in the picture.”

“Oh.. Okay.”

They silently sat on the couch while having the hot chocolate. Aaron ate some from Jordan’s cup. And she let him have it. These two looked too cute for words.

Jordan broke the silence, “I’m shamelessly glad about you not being with your wife.” Adrian burst into a peal of laughter. And messes her hair.

It was time for her to go home. He didn’t want to let go of her. He was also aware that she would come to his place tomorrow, the day after, and the day after.

She said bye to Aaron and kissed his cheek. And he returned it.

She turned to Adrian and gave him a hug which he returned. She slightly lifted her head up expecting to get a kiss from him. He almost gave in to her, but controlled himself. He shook his head a no-no.

Jordan felt disappointed and hung her head low.

“I am not supposed to do that to you,” he said softly as he hugged her tighter.

“Why?” she asked looking up at him.

He just stared into her eyes without saying anything. He was questioning himself is it because she is his student! Or is it because of his past experience!

“Is it because I am your student?” she asked.

“Hmm,” he said to her.

“I won’t be your student after a year,” she said hoping he would reconsider being with her.

“We don’t even know what we have between us. And also, we don’t know each other well,” he told her.

“We can start to get to know each other and we can discover what is between us,” she said.

“I thought I was the older one here,” he mumbled.

“Then behave like one,” she said to herself but Adrian was quick to grasp it.

“We’ll talk about this later.” He told her and walked her towards the door. Jordan kept fidgeting with her top. Adrian notices it and gives a peck on her forehead, making her giggle out of little satisfaction. He couldn’t miss her blush. They share a side hug before she left.
