Chapter 5

It was Sunday. My cousins from my father's side would usually visit our house during this day. Mommy has declared Sunday a family day so we really have no choice but to gather here in our house.

"Felice! Why aren't you dressed yet?! You cousins will arrive soon!" I heard mom yelling.

I almost rolled my eyes and closed the book that I was reading. I stood up and went inside the house. Mommy is with our maids in the garden, preparing our lunch. It's still quarter to 9, but it has been our tradition to go to mass every Sunday with the whole clan.

I went to the kitchen and just grabbed a sandwich before heading back to my room. I sat on my bed and ate my sandwich first.

I got my phone and messaged my cousin, Karrie. We're just a small clan actually. Daddy has two more siblings, a girl and a boy. Both of my tito and tita has two children each while daddy has me only.

Karrie is my closest since we're almost of the same age and we're the only girls in the family. She has been my best friend, my only friend actually. I'm also close with my guy cousins, but not as much because I can't relate with them.

"Are you on your way?" I asked Karrie when I picked up her call. She called me right after I messaged her.

"Yep! Just a few blocks away, dear."

"Hmmkay. I'm going to take a bath first."

"Yeah sure! Don't worry about your outfit, Imma pick it up for you." I could imagine her winking. I let out a soft laugh.

"Okay. I'm hanging up. Bye!" I ended the call and finished my sandwich as well. I just left the door unlock before I went inside the bathroom.

I was in the middle of scrubbing my body when I heard my door opened.

"Fel, Imma rummage your closet!" I heard Karrie shout. I laughed and turned off the shower.

"Make sure to put it back in place! Mom's gonna kill me!" I shouted back, but I just heard her laugh. I shook my head and turned on the shower again.

I finished bathing and did my morning routine. I was wearing a robe when I get out of the bathroom.

"Here!" Karrie said, pointing at the dress on my bed. There was also a pair of wedge heels on the floor.

"Aww, you're so sweet, Kar!" I said and hugged her. She just rolled her eyes and got the dress.

"C'mon, try it on!" She pushed me to my walk in closet. I just shook my head and rolled my eyes.

I never doubted Karrie's taste in fashion. As expected, the dress looked good and it fitted me well. I didn't even recognize it. I never thought I had this dress before. Maybe a gift from mom that I never got the chance to wore.

"You look gorg!" Karrie screamed excitedly. I just laughed at her.

"Let's go down! The oldies are getting mad already!" Both of us laughed.

We were complete during the mass. Each family brought one car, but Karrie rode with us. We arrived just in time for the mass. It lasted for one and a half hour, I guess?

We left the church at around 11:30 already. My guy cousins talked about having golf this afternoon. Even Karrie invited me, but I'm too lazy to come. Plus, I don't know how to play golf.

We arrived at the house at exactly twelve. Our lunch was already prepared in the garden, just like what mommy instructed our house helps.

"C'mon, can we eat already? My stomach's grumbling already," Karrie exclaimed.

"You're always hungry, you fatty!" Kuya Josh, our other cousin, teased her. Karrie raised her middle finger at them. The guys just laughed and teased her more.

Oh god.

"That's enough, let's eat already," daddy said. Karrie almost clapped her hands and immediately went to her seat. I just laughed at her reaction.

Kuya Josh's right. She's always hungry.

We ate lunch peacefully. The oldies were talking business stuff as usual. Our other guy cousins were having their small talks as well. Karrie and I just focused on our food.

When lunch was over, the oldies went to the gazeebo to play chess and have some tea, while my other cousins went to the entertainment room to play video games. Karrie and I were left in the living room.

"What are we going to watch?" I asked her as I turned on the TV. She snatched the remote from me and browsed through Netflix.

"Hmm. I want chic flick for today," she said and browsed some movies.

We prefer watching movies than series because we easily get bored. I just let her choose the movie and went to the kitchen to get some popcorn.

When I came back, the movie was already starting. It was Kissing Booth. I placed the popcorn on the center table and sat beside her.

"Oh, Noah's so hot!" I rolled my eyes at what she said.

"Every guy who has abs is hot for you," I told her. She just glared at me. I chuckled and shook my head.

All through out the movie, Karrie kept on screaming about how hot the leading guy is. I was just shaking my head at her reaction.

"Your phone's vibrating," I told her when I felt something moving in between us. Her forehead creased and reached for it.

I stuffed my mouth with popcorn. I looked at my cousin who was smiling from ear to ear while staring at her cellphone. She was even biting her lips to suppress the smile on her face.

My brows raised at her.

"What's with the smile?" I asked her. She immediately turned to me, her smile widened.

"What? You look like a psycho," I told her, but she just laugh and giggled.

"Seriously, Kar?" I asked once again. This time, she heaved a sigh and sat properly. My forehead creased.

"Hmm have you experience those butterfly in the stomach like what they describe in books and movies?" I could see her eyes twinkling as she asked those. I shook my head and stared at her confusingly.

She giggled and smiled even more.

"Fel, I think I'm in love…" she almost whispered the last word. My jaw dropped and my eyes widened.

"Oh my god, with whom?!"

The smile never left her face.

"Hmm with some jock in my school. He's just so adorable! And hot! And gentleman! And ideal! Fel, oh my god! I could still remember the feeling when our eyes first met! Then my heart started beating so fast! Every time he's near, I feel so shy and embarrassed. Then my heart would beat so fast again! Fel, I'm really in love!" she exclaimed and giggled excitingly.

I wanted to smile and be happy for her too, but what she said struck the hell out of me. I stared at her for a second.

I held my left chest.

"Hey, you okay?" I almost jumped in shock when she touched my arm. I sat properly and cleared my throat.

I forced a smile.

"Uhm yeah!" I tried to make my voice as lively as hers. She just stared at me fora second before nodding and shifting her glance to the TV again.

I slumped my back on the couch's back.

Shit.

"Karrie…uhm I have to ask something?" I called.

"Hmm? What is it?" she asked back, not looking at me. I heaves a sigh and swallowed the lump in my throat.

"Uhm do you feel odd when you're with him? I mean like you feel distracted and all?" I could see how she stopped texting when she hears my question.

She turned to me with her forehead creased.

"Hmm yeah, somehow. I remember I would always run away whenever I see him coming. I don't know. Feels weird." She shrugged and turned away.

My mouth parted.

It's impossible. I was just embarrassed because he caught me sleeping on his class the first day we met! That's just it! I know it when I like someone. I should know! Why am I making it a big deal?!
