Chapter 11 If She Did Not Mention That Person

The old master insisted on them moving back to the family house. Eventually, John agreed, but not before haggling with the old master to move tomorrow.

The old master only wanted them to move back. Now that he had achieved his goal, he did not mind waiting for one more day.

So, after agreeing to it, the old master left.

After the old master left, Natalie pushed away John’s hand that was still on her waist. “Are you crazy? Why did you agree to move back?”

“Why not?”

“Because… Because…”

His question stunned Natalie. In the end, she said, “We’re gonna get a divorce in the end anyway.”

“...”

It was fine when she did not mention that word. Now that she did, the deranged man’s eyes got even colder.

Natalie knew that she had accidentally angered him again. She immediately changed the topic. “Alright, let’s not talk about the divorce. We should be realistic now. Do you really want me to be your wife? If you marry me, what’s going to happen to the mother of your daughter?”

After he heard that, the man lifted his eyebrow. “How do you know about her?”

“There’s not one person in Summer CIty that does not know about this.”

John, “...”

Just like Natalie said, the thing with John and Becky Winters was not a secret in Summer City anymore.

It was just that it was incestuous after all. So even if people were nosey, they would not mention it in front of John. However, Natalie was the only person who dared to speak about his shortcomings.

Of course, the reason Natalie said this was not to anger him, but she did not have any other choice. She said in a straightforward manner, “See, you already have someone you like, and I will never like you. Our marriage was not consensual at all, so naturally, it won’t last.”

She decided to win him over with facts. However, he only frowned and kept quiet. She continued bravely, “I understand. You married me to annoy your grandpa. But you’ve seen how Old Master Winters treated me just now and you should know that there’s nothing between us. So, you don’t have to punish me nor yourself with this.”

“What a smart mouth.”

It seemed like he agreed with her. However, it was obvious that there was a hint of disdain in his attitude.

Natalie could not be bothered by his attitude. She said, “John, I’m being serious. Can’t you be more serious about this?”

“Which part of me is not being serious?”

Natalie choked but quickly replied, “If you bring me back to the Winters family house, then you have to admit that I’m your wife. Are you sure you won’t regret this?”

“Are you done talking?”

“...”

What attitude was this? Why was it different from how she imagined? Natalie was still in a daze when he said, “Just go. Go back and pick up your brother. I suddenly feel that it’s good to move now.”

If she did not mention Becky, perhaps John would consider this carefully if he wanted to continue with this marriage or not. However, there was no need for consideration.

He definitely needed a wife, and at the same time, he could prevent his grandpa from doing ‘stupid’ things.

He would be killing two birds with one stone!

So, she was the one!

“John Winters, were you listening to me?”

“No.”

Natalie was furious. However, he pulled her downstairs without saying anything more.

The downstairs of Natalie’s house.

She pushed him away with all her might. “Can you stop acting crazy?”

John, “...”

This was the first time she got angry with him. The hot-tempered man did not get mad. He just looked at her quietly with his cold eyes.

Goosebumps appeared on her skin after he stared at her. Yet, she was still angry. “I really don’t understand what made you think I’m having an affair with the old master. I already told you, I’m not. I’m not. I’m not.”

How should she describe that feeling?

It was like the first time when she was accused of stealing something at school because she was poor. It happened after something befell her family.

She felt the same now as last time. She was holding everything in so hard she felt like her lungs were about to explode. She had explained to everyone that it was not her, not her, not her. But nobody wanted to listen to her.

It was just like right now. She repeatedly told him that she did not, she did not, and she did not. But he did not believe her.

The feeling of helplessness was wrapping her like a vine, she could not escape from it and had no choice but to struggle continuously. At that moment, she was holding her face with her hand. She looked very exhausted. “Please, I’m begging you, okay? Be rational about this. I really…”

“Three months.”

The simple two words interrupted what Natalie was going to say.

At that moment, John’s expression was another level of cold. However, he still explained patiently, “If there’s really nothing between you and grandpa, then just obediently be my Mrs. Winters. You’re free when my grandpa’s done with you.”

Natalie, “...”

“Why? You can’t do it?”

She did not feel anything for Old Master Winters anyway, so why couldn’t she do it. It was just that…

She did not trust this man anymore. She was on high alert now. She even said bravely, “Words alone are no proof. How will I know if you’re really gonna let me go?”

“I’ll draft an official agreement tomorrow. We’ll each have a copy of it.”

“T-Then…”

He frowned impatiently. John sounded agitated at this point. “Any more questions?”

After all, he was already extremely patient with this woman, yet she was still behaving like this. Did she think that he was an approachable person?

Just as he was about to walk away, Natalie suddenly said, “I can cooperate with you, but you have to respect me.”

“What do you mean?”

“I…”

It was difficult for her, but she had to say it. Natalie mentally prepared herself for a while before looking at his face. “Can I not sell myself?”

John understood what she meant by that.

He was smiling, but it was only on the surface. “Why are you pretending to be noble and virtuous?”

Natalie clenched her hands at his mocking. “I only have this requirement. As for the others, as long as it is within my capabilities, I’ll do it even if it’s a hundred requests.”

John Winters was a businessman. He had his own survival guide when he dealt with other people and things.

Hearing what she said, it felt like she was discussing business with him. Exchanging a request with a hundred…

It was not a loss to him at all.

He raised his handsome brows and glanced at Natalie with a domineering gaze. After inspecting her with his eyes, he smirked, “You are the one who said this.”
