Chapter 1

                             Brandon

I sit here at the desk looking over bills that I'll need to take care of for the month. It's been three years since I left the only place I've ever called home. I didn't want to run away from what I had done. I wanted to answer for all the wrong and pain that I had caused everyone, but things had changed once I marked Misty. Once our souls were bonded nothing else matter but her. Suddenly a part of me needed her. I knew Tyson and Luka would have found me there eventually and I couldn't risk them hurting her to make me pay for what I've done, so to keep her safe I had to leave.

I let out a sigh as I look over the bills.

As alpha of the pack, Jason has canceled all my credit cards and has locked me out of all the bank accounts, but I expected that. My mother and father gave me money to get me started here with my new life and after buying a house, taking care of bills, and trying to get a business up and running over the past three years, it has put a dent in the money I have.

I've always had unlimited access to money my entire life so having to manage and spend money wisely is something new for me. But things have changed for me and I can no longer be careless with the money I have.

I look over at the office door opening and smile as I watch Misty walk closely behind our pup as he quickly wobbles into the room threatening to fall over as he takes small quick steps on his little legs with a smile on his face, looking over at me sitting behind the desk.

I stand up from the chair watching with a smile as he makes his way around the desk without falling over. I lean down and lift him up into the air, rewarding him with my love and affection, causing his little giggles to fill the room.

I love this little guy more than anything, but I hate that he will have to carry my burden as a dishonorable male. Wolves will judge him because of the male his father is. I know the day will come when he's older and began to ask questions.

He will question why we're living as rogues amongst humans. He will Question these marks that I hold on my face. He will know the truth. He will know the hurt I've caused. He will know the shame I've placed on my family name. He will know the dishonorable male his father is, and maybe he'll hate me and feel as I've ruined things for him, but he could never hate me more than I hate myself for the things I've done.

But through all of that, I will make sure that he grows to be a better male than me.

Misty walks over as I playfully growl and bite at our pup's neck causing him to squirm and giggle in my arms. I place him back down and smile as I watch him began to run around.

"I don't mind helping, I can get a job to help out. It wouldn't be anything new for me. I've worked jobs before." Misty tells me as she moves the papers around on the desk looking at the bills.

"It's fine, I'll take care of it," I tell her taking my seat back at the desk, appreciating that she's willing to help, but It's a male responsibility to provide and take care of his family.

"I understand your pride as an alpha male, but we are not pack wolves anymore Brandon. If things don't work out as You planned we'll have to adjust to living amongst the humans." She tells me, silently throwing out that we'll have to get regular everyday jobs if things Don't go as I planned.

My pride as an alpha male will never allow me to work and take orders from someone else, especially a mere human. I just can't do it.

"You don't have to worry about anything. Things will work out just as I planned it." She looks at me for a second as if she wants me to say something but gives me a nod.

I've used most of the money we have to open the business. We don't have much left, just enough to keep all the bills and other things taken care of for a while. Not having anyone to help me with getting this meat factory up and running, I've made mistakes with money like many first-time business owners, but things are starting coming together.

Our pack owned a few meat factories. There's a high demand for meat. Stores, restaurants, and people are always looking to buy good meat. This business will bring us in the money we need and soon Misty and our pup will want for nothing.

"I've talked with a few stores and restaurants owners and they are willing to buy once they have a look at the product, I just have to get the meat ready to be sold." I look over at the clock seeing that I need to be leaving to meet with the workers that I'll be hiring. "I have to head downtown to meet the workers," I tell her standing up from the chair. "Everythings going to work out," I tell her, placing a kiss on her forehead before leaving.

I pull up into the parking lot of the large building that I've bought to start the business. I head inside and let out a sigh as I look around. I've put nearly all the money we have into this place because my pride as an alpha male won't allow me to work some nine to five job.

I know Misty is okay with working some day job, but not me. I just hope me not being able to put my pride aside doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.

After taking one last look around the building, I head back to the lobby where the humans are starting to gather.

Their talking stop and they all look over at me as I walk into the lobby. I can feel their stares, looking at the marks that I hold on my face. Looking at the shame that I'm forced to carry with me everywhere I go.

Ignoring their stares, I pick up on the scent of a few wolves standing with the humans.

My eyes land on each wolf who faces hold frowns, knowing what these marks on my face mean.

One by one the three wolves walk off, not wanting to be anywhere near me, knowing I've done monstrous, unforgivable things to earn these marks on my face.

My wolf pushes forward not liking the disrespect they are showing me. I force the wolf back as I watch them walk away. I watch them leave, hoping that I don't have any problems with these wolves. Wolves don't like having wolves who carry the dishonorable mark around and will try to run them off or even kill them. But me being an alpha male I doubt they will take that chance against me. I'm not here to cause problems for anyone and I hope they be smart and leave me be.

I look back to the human's whos standing here. I spoke with them all over the phone and told them all to meet here today to fill out some paperwork.

I look at them for a second before I walking over to the table and grab the forms handling them out.

After they all look over the forms and fill them out, I take them all around the large building, showing them around and where they will be working. Now all I have to do is get the meat to be clean, cut, and packaged to be sold.

After showing them around the workplace, they all leave with their assigned jobs and a work schedule.

Once they all leave I lock the place up and head over to my car. I let out a sigh as I take one last look at the building, knowing it took a lot of time and money to get this place together and now I'll be able to provide for my family as a male should.

Once I get back to the house, the sun is beginning to set. I head into the kitchen where Misty is preparing dinner. I walk over and place a kiss on her cheek before walking over grabbing a bottle of water out the refrigerator.

"How did things go?" She asks looking over at me.

"Workers showed up, so all I have to do is get the meat tomorrow," I tell her.

"That's good." She walks over and grabs something out of the cupboard before going back over to the stove.

I stand here watching her as she cooks, knowing I've been putting most of my time into getting this business up and running successfully and I haven't really been around the house much to show her the love and affection that she deserves.

"I'm sorry if I've been putting all my time into this meat factory. I just want to give you and Brice the life you deserve." A perfect life amongst humans is all I can give her to try and make up for taken her life as a pack wolf away. I didn't want this for her. I didn't want for her to be looked down on for wanting to be with someone like me. I love her more than anything, but I hate that being with me has forced her into a life as a rogue.

She stops what she's doing and walk over to me, taking my hands into hers. "I'm fine, we're fine Brandon. I know you're only working hard to provide for us, but you don't have to give us some rich fancy lifestyle to make up for us living as rogues. I knew what I was getting myself into that night I came to you and I accepted it. I understand that you still hold this guilt inside over the things you've done, but you have to find a way to let it go."

I look at her for a moment not saying anything. That's easier said than done. Every day when I look into the mirror I'm reminded of what I've done. Whenever I'm out the stares I get are a daily reminder of the monster I am.

I give her a nod knowing she could never truly understand how I feel inside. How can I accept this? How can I accept my family being looked down on because of the things that I've done? How can I let this guilt and shame of what I've done go when I'm reminded of it every day.

I will carry this guilt and shame with me for the rest of my days.

She places a kiss on my lips and gives my hands a light squeeze before going back over to the stove.
