28. A Rebirth

The first thing, I remotely felt after I came back to my senses was burning pain. It felt as if my entire body was on fire. A scream wrenched out of my lips as I felt the burning sensation devouring my senses like a fire-breathing monster. The next thing I became aware of was that I was no longer on the forest grounds but in a more...civilised place? I felt my fear spike up. Where was I? And why was I not dead?

"Ah...I see you are awake." Through the haze of pain and fear, I squint to locate the origin of the voice and then my gaze fixates on Alexandra. I hurriedly sit up and glare at her, "Why am I here?" The burning sensation in my throat makes my voice sound scratchy and hoarse. She sighs but doesn't answer. Instead, she walks up to me and hands me a goblet with a sweet-scented liquid.
