Chapter 3: I'm Sick

"Good morning, Van. Have you wired the penny?" I arched my brow as I sat on my seat. Today is a Monday and this is one of the days I hate the most. Going to school and listen to the boring discussion of the old professors suck. I looked at the clock and wished for it to make the time faster.

"You are so clever, Farrah. No wonder you are the heiress of your company. You won't run out of money with that mindset!" I laughed and played with my long manicured nails. We stopped talking when the teacher for the first subject arrived and discussed.

"Farrah, lunch date? Let's skip classes." The second subject is about to start when Jester, one of my handsome suitors asked. I glanced at the clock and saw that it's already 9 am. I shifted my gaze to Vanessa who's now shaking her head. "Girl, don't look at me to ask for a suggestion when you won't even listen."

I rolled my eyes and lingered it back to Jester. "Sure, let's go." I picked my bag up and winked at Vannessa. She once again shakes her head in disbelief. "Get ready for a lost point Farrah!" She yelled before I closed the door of the air-conditioned classroom.

Jester held my hand and drag me to an empty room. He closed the door and leaned my back behind it. "Let's make out first, please." He said and crashed his lips on mine. I immediately wrapped my arms around his nape and responded to his kisses when I remembered Uno's sorrowful orbs flashed on my mind. My brows furrowed and pushed him away. I bit my lips and avoided Jester's gaze.

"What's wrong?" He held my waist and tried to kiss me again but I moved my face away, still thinking of Uno's sad voice.

"I'm not feeling well, let's just...eat some other time, I need to go home." I fixed my hair and my dress before I stormed out of the room.

Uno's face has been etched on my mind even when I climbed in my car. I put my head on the steering wheel and empathetically closed my eyes. I can hear him saying thank you in my head for stopping Jester. Come on, Farrah. You shouldn't care about his feelings!

I drove my way to our house and gave my bag to one of the maids. "Put this on my room, I'm just gonna eat," I said and strutted the way to our dining. I opened the fridge and picked a yogurt and closed it. I pulled a chair and stood on it to reach a bag of lays. I went upstairs and watched a movie while eating the foods I brought. I was in the middle of the second movie when I received a text message.

Uno:

I bought you snacks, where are you?

I rolled my eyes and ignored it. Minutes after that, the screen of my phone lit up for a new message.

Uno:

You are not in your room. Vanessa said you skipped classes. Why?

Vanessa isn't loyal, I feel so betrayed. Of all people, he chose to say those things to Uno? I scoffed. I stared at my screen for minutes before I typed a reply.

Farrah:

I'm sick.

That's what I replied because I know, he will not stop asking things until he gets a clear answer. I reached for the remote and turned the T.V off and pulled the blanket up. Instead of talking to Uno, I turned my phone off and closed my eyes until I doze off to sleep.

I opened my eyes when I felt my stomach ache. I'm hungry. I rubbed my eyes and reached for the alarm clock on my bedside table to see what time is it when I found something—it's no a clock! I picked it up and my lips parted when I saw a pair of black glasses. My eyes immediately traveled to the man beside me. Uno's head is placed on top of his arms and sleeping beside me! He's sitting on my vanity chair and his position looks painful.

I touched his head. "Uno, hey..." I moved my hand to his shoulder and shake it a bit. I heard him groan and as soon as he met my eyes, he stood up and turned his back. He fixed his hair and touched his face, maybe checking if it has a speck of dirt.

"Why are you here?" I said in my bedroom voice. I looked down on my clothes and remembered that I'm only wearing a spaghetti strap! I pulled the blanket up to my shoulders to cover my body. Not that I'm ashamed of it, I'm actually proud, but I don't want Uno to see this because he'll surely be embarrassed...why am I even thinking of his emotions, anyway?

"Y-you told me you are sick and...you're not answering my calls. I'm worried." He faced me but his eyes are glued on his shoes. I gaped at him, amused at his persistence.

"What time is it?" I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. My eyes widened when I saw that it's already 11 pm! I shifted my gaze to Uno. He's still wearing the same clothes from school and I bet, he went here straight from the university.

"What time did you go here?"

"Uh...it doesn't matter." He moved closer and touched my neck, I jerked on my position and stared at him weirdly. "S-sorry, I just want to check if you're fine."

"What time did you come in here? And who let you in?" I repeated. He avoided my gaze and put his attention on my hands. "Since 4 pm...I skipped my last class and went here...to check on you."

"Manang Tessa let me in."

I gaped at him. "Why didn't you wake me up? And I'm not sick. I made it an excuse." I shifted my eyes to my hand and saw that I'm still holding his glasses. I handed it to him and tilted my head.

"You should wake me up."

"But you are sleeping soundly, I don't want to be a...disturbance." The sourness in his voice is evident when I heard my tummy. His eyes immediately met mine and widened.

"Are you hungry?" I held my stomach and slightly nodded.

"Let's go down. I'm going to cook for you."
