Chapter 53

The rain subsided as if the nasty act we carried out calmed it. Emmet adored my entire body with his soft lips, while I just laid and enjoyed the feeling.

There was a strong smell that made it's way into my nose, earning a choking cough from me.

"Are you okay?" Emmet asked, breathing heavily and sitting beside me.

"Something is burning." I sniffed the air and sat up.

"Oh no!" We both exclaimed and kicked the duvet off our bodies. Running down the stairs, we reached the kitchen coughing.

There was smoke everywhere.

I ran to the stove and used my bare hands to bring the kettle down.

"Ouch!" I wriggled my hands and blew air on my fingers.

Emmet turned off the stove and dumped the kettle into the sink–he turned on the tap and let the water cool the kettle off. He hurried to where I was and inspected my hands.
