Chapter 54

My brows bumped together in a scowl when I saw that Emmet's front door was left ajar.

Strange.

I slowly walked in and heard a familiar voice of a female complaining about something. I clenched my fist when my brain registered the voice to be Sophia's.

I crept to the kitchen doorway and saw Emmet installing his smoke detector with Sophia standing opposite him.

"Emmet," she pouted. "What does she have that I don't?"

"Sophia, I can't talk right now. I'm exhausted from work and I'm trying to fix this thing." He stood on a stool and I imagined Sophia pushing him off the stool.

No negative thoughts!

He fixed the smoke detector and got down from the stool to get a glass of water. She followed him to the sink and unbuttoned the first button of his shirt.
