Chapter 6

As she crouched there bemoaning her fate, someone who was running tripped on her, causing them both to tumble on the floor.

'Hey!' she cried.

The guy huffed as he dusted himself. 'What were you doing back there, weirdo?!' he fired at her angrily.

Suzanne looked the other way as she humph-ed at him.

'I was thinking like a normal person when you came rushing like an animal--- Hey!' she faced him. 'What did you just call me fatso?!' Suzanne scoffed as she dusted herself.

Ethan huffed again. Girls were nothing but a bother!

'Fatso?! You're so dumb! The puff is from the armored suit I'm wearing.'

'Say what you want fatso,' she replied.

Ethan fired her a nasty look. He looked away proudly. 'Anyway I don't have time for the likes of you. I'm a Slad now, so that means you're looking at one of the super greatest heroes that'll ever live!' he smiled cockily.

A Slad was what the newbies at hero league were called.

Suzanne scrunched her nose at him. She never liked Ethan at all. Ever since their kindergarten years. He was always yammering about being the greatest hero ever, which was her own dream and he always thought he was a tough opponent for Ryan. Hmmnph!

He'd always challenge Ryan to a fight and ofcourse he was ever ignored. He was always such a nuisance.

'I don't have time for your blabbering, Ethan,' she started walking in the opposite direction.

He crunched his fists. 'You'll see! I'll prove it to you all! You'll be sorry!' he yelled after her and turned and continued running in the opposite direction.

Suzanne frowned. Where was she supposed to go? She groaned. I should have asked Ethan. At least he knew where he was headed.

Suddenly an announcement came from the loud speakers.

'Attention all students of Superhero High, an assembly of all units has been called in the great hall. However, all new students should move to the southern part of the building where the orientation hall is located. Good day.'

Suzanne face palmed herself. She was headed in the opposite direction.

She started running towards the hall. At this rate, she'll be late for the attendance.

'Watch it!' a bored voice said as they nearly collided.

Suzanne almost apologized but she caught sight of who she was about to apologize to. 'You!' she growled.

Unlike her, Andrew looked more composed with both his hands stuffed into his pockets. He looked bored just standing there in front of her....well, he was always bored.

Reason was because he was way out of her league or any of their classmate's at that. The smartest in the whole class, it was extremely easy for him to skip two forms forward but the school had denied him the opportunity when he applied, and he never fogot it. The interview seemed just like it happened only minutes ago. He remembered it all...

Andrews' expression gave away nothing except for the hopeful glint in his eyes.

The school board members had all been strict-looking.

Finally one of them had broken the silence. 'Andrew Frankstin. We regret to inform you that the hero league has rejected your application and also we've decided to turn down your request to skip to the next two forms because as bright as you are, you lack the necessary experience.'

Andrew had looked down dejectedly at the rejection letter in his hand. He had ooked at them and had nodded curtly. 'I understand.' He had then exited the room.

'How was the interview Andrew?' one of their classmates had asked him.

They had all flinched back at the glare he had given them. 'None of your business.' he had replied coldly and had taken his seat.

'Meaning you failed.'

Apart from Ryan, Andrew was another person no one wanted to cross. He wasn't as distant as Ryan nor as domineering but he was sure as cold as Ryan and way smarter even.

Seated at the back seat with a smug look had been Ryan.

Andrew had barely glanced at him but had gone back to operating his laptop. 'Being rejected prematurely doesn't count as failure, Andrew. Rather it gives you an edge of knowing how things are coordinated at a level higher than that of your unsuspecting classmates.'

Ryan's smug look had been patronizing. 'Besides,' Andrew had snapped shut his laptop. 'I still get to take the test with the rest of you when it's our turn to so I didn't't miss out in any way!'

'Shut up Andrew!' Suzanne had defended loyally, in defense of Ryan.

Andrew had scoffed at Ryan and had walked out of the class.

In Ethan's eyes Ryan was his rival while Ryan considered Andrew his rival.

Naturally Suzanne didn't like anyone Ryan didn't like, so it was no news she didn't like Andrew, and fancy almost bumping into him here, of all places!.

He started walking away.

'You're so annoying Andrew!' Suzanne called after him. He stopped but didn't turn back. 'I am annoying? In what way have I annoyed you?'

He shrugged his shoulders. 'Not that I care anyway.'

Suzanne hated the cool way he always spoke regardless of anything. He sounded nonchalant, he always did.

'You think you're better than everyone!' she fired at him. He scoffed. 'I am. And in what way does this discussion colide with our encounter?'

'Stop talking posh to me, you half-wit ninny!' Suzanne groaned in frustration; it was useless talking to Andrew.

'Talking to you is exhausting,' he remarked and continued walking on. Ugh! He's so arrogant! Suzanne thought.

Suzanne, upon entering the southern wing, still couldn't find the hall. At this rate she feared she'd be late.

She kicked the doors open, searching.

This day is so bad it couldn't be worse...Suzanne thought.

Well, she thought wrong....for things were going to get much worse than she had imagined.

Much, much worse.
