Chapter 11 Lost in the Depths of Depression

Emlyn was shaded from the glare of the midday sun by the curtains as restlessness prevented sleep from reaching her and she tossed and turned in her bed.

The door of the ward slammed open to announce Eve's entrance, and Emlyn sat up.

Eve had been discharged from the hospital earlier. Perched atop a pair of high heels and wearing a dress, she crossed her arms haughtily as she scrutinized Emlyn and sniggered, "How are you feeling after your miscarriage?"

Emlyn was mindful of Sean's advice as she held onto her temper and disregarded Eve's provocation.

Eve was holding a small glass bottle filled with a strange liquid in her hand. A small, flesh-colored ball was suspended in the liquid. She shook the bottle flippantly. "Do you know what this is?"

Emlyn furrowed her brows. "What?"

"Well, it's the child you lost."

The color drained from Emlyn's face as her resolve gradually slipped. "You! What are you talking about?"
