CHAPTER FORTY THREE

She went out of her mom's room feeling betrayed.

Why didn't he call her like he promised to?

She went back the way shed gone last night, if there was a reason that floorboard was suddenly removable, she intended to find out.

And she intended to find out every other thing he might be hiding from her.

So much for her leap of trust.

She bumped in Brookly on her way.

"Oh God, I'm sorry Brooks. I wasn't paying attention where I was going."

"It's no problem girl, I should have seen you coming, but I didn't." The older woman replied, smiling at her.

"Thank you." She replied with a smile.

She was about leaving but she turned last minute.

"What happened here last night, Brooks?" She asked in a quiet voice that conveyed she knew something did, and was disappointed nobody told her.
