Her phone was lying on the floor, the screen half lit, but the only thought in her head was that these are the Carter boys and they were here, in Jordan's dad's room.
She didn't need a second glance to recognize them, it's been years but they'd only gotten older and more define with a healthy dose of masculinity, just like their....brother, but unlike him, they hadn't changed at all.
Her eyes flew to Jordan in a plea but he seemed just as surprised as she was, but it was obviously for different reasons.
Her head was spinning, her brain quickly piecing together every single information she has on this and the answer was right there, glaring at her but it was too ugly and scared for her to believe it.
"Joceline?"
The younger of the two men that just entered the room, who she remembered to be Zayn, asked.
She wanted to answer, she wanted to open her mouth and te
TEN YEARS EARLIERTherewas knocking on the door of her balcony and there was only one person in the whole wide world that ever comes into her room from that door.Jordan.With a wide smile on her lips, she went to open the door to let her best friend in, a warning she didn't half mean sitting at the tip of her tongue. She already knew that no matter how many times she warns him off, he'd never use the front door. She's tried and his reply have always remained same, "that's their door down there, Jo, this is mine. I'll always use it because I need you."She dragged herself over and opened up but thechiddingdied on her lips as soon as she saw his face. No, he wasn't here to taunt her or disturb the hell out of her life.
"What the fuck man? I'm no woman expert but you don't keep them in the dark about something this big."Jordan watched Zayn finish his lecture with a shrug, wondering if his brother wasn't right somehow.Maybe he should have told her on that first day she'd sauntered into his office, looking hot as hell.Maybe he should have reminded her that he was the same Jordan she'd left behind when she moved with her family, the very same one whose life had hit rock bottom as he'd tried to learn living without his anchor to sanity. She'd been that for him after all, the one reason he never reeled off into the deep, dark ends. And maybe he should have told her about the countless nights he'd go over to her house and scale her balcony, a pack of beer or two in his backpack, just because he couldn't sleep. He'd let himself into her room and lie in her bed which they'd left behind for some reason,
JoJo wasn't sure how long she stood there, watching the big house that now stood where theirs should have been standing. But she knew watching it wouldn't change a thing. It wouldn't take her back to her childhood and it wouldn't erase the fact that Jordan had lied to her and played her like the fucking strings of a guitar. She was tired and her eyes burned from all the crying she'd done. And now she had to worry about where to go from here. She didn't want to go back to the hospital, she wasn't ready to see him yet, she wasn't ready to listen to him lie to her again. She didn't want to look in his eyes and see what a fool she's been. It'd kill her to.She dragged her feet from the spot she stood in, her brain working overtime on where she will go from here. She'd probably lodge in a low cost hotel for the night and then get a retur
"The fuck!"One of the men, the one at the wheel, cursed as he swerved too late, almost getting hit by another car. They've long since lost the sedan and only God in heaven knew where they were taking her to.JoJo'sheart was beating a tattoo against her chest even though somewhere deep down, she knew they were the good guys.At least she hoped."Call the boss again, Ty."The one who had been cussing said, his eyes still glued to the road. The boss? The last time she'd heard that term, it hadn't ended well at all. She'd been held and tortured by men she prays never to set eyes on ever again in her entire life."He's not taking my calls."The one named Ty answered, tapping away at the screen of his phone again. He still held her, even th
Whatever was going on wasn't any good, and Jordan knew, that's what Tyler's message meant anyways. His priority now was getting JoJo to a safe place, he needed her safe."Where do we take her from here , boss?"He pushed his fingers through his hair, pinching the bridge of his nose.He gave them the name of their family's hotel, at least she didn't know it was theirs and it'd at least make her stay."Check in under the pseudonym Jack Ryan, it's paid for, the penthouse suite. Dont leave her alone, I'm coming there.""Okay boss."The line went dead in his ear.He fell back against the door of the room, taking comfort in the fact that Tyler and Mark where the best around here and they'd do just about anything to protect his baby girl.Brad! The thought to call him came like the current that lights the thinking bulb.
The bar that the cab guy took him too was a small, local liquor joint. And there wasn't much people inside it which made it perfect for Jordan. He needed the space and quiet that came with being alone. The room was dark, creating a much needed anonymity for him.How didn't need anybody recognising him here and running off to tattle tales to his family or worse, the paparazzi he's spied a couple times hanging around him since they came into town.He doubted any of these guys in here would be able to tell who he was to save their lives, even if the light had been burning bright, which thankfully it wasn't.A young girl who looked about the age that had no business in a bar came over to take his order. He'd have asked what she was doing here if he'd been in his right frame of mind. She was too young to be in here and the
JoJo was curled in the big, wide bed hat adorned the room she'd been taken to by the men that had taken her.It looked like a hotel to her coming up, a penthouse suite maybe but she had no strength to waste thinking about that.Anything that happens to her from here on out, she's left it to fate.Maybe the merciful goddess would pity her and let in a little tweak. She closed her eyes, again, willing herself to sleep just like she's been doing for the past hour plus. For some reason she whole heartedly loathed, she couldn't do the one thing she craved right now.She wanted to sleep more than she wanted anything else right now but it wasn't happening. She didn't want to lay awake like she was now, thinking about everything that's happened today, thinking about Jordan and worrying if he was okay, even after what he did.He had a father in the hospital
The bar, JoJo noticed, was a small one.The lightening inside it was low, colored and sim but she could still make out people inside it and the ruckus that was going down in there. There was another crash, as she got closer to the door that made her wince, it was much louder than the one she'd heard while on call with Zayn and much more real. Her hand shook a little as she reached for the door, there was no scary, giant guy stood outside the door as the bouncer after all.She pushed the door open just as her two new body guards made it to where she stood, and then in she went. The sight of the bars interior was nothing anybody wants to walk into. There were broken glasses everywhere, she could see that the closer she got to the serving bar, and furnitures turned over.At one end of the room, there was Zayn, or at least someone she thought was Zayn, speaking to an older guy who didn't look half about happy about the shit going in in here.
