The cry that Jordan heard could be unmistakable, he knew who it belonged to and it both relieved and enraged him at the same time.
It relieved him to know that she was still alive and from what he was forcing himself to believe, okay too.
And it enraged him that she was in tears and probably scared half to death and he could do nothing to help her, nothing to save her except hang here and wait for his fate.
He had no doubt it'd be ugly judging from what he'd done to the two of their guys that had been unfortunate in his home.
He wasn't sure how much longer he could wait though for Brad and the rest to find them.
What the fuck was keeping them.
His limbs felt numb when they were not hurting and and his head hurt so much that a quick death might be looking like the better option soon.
He must have taken a bad hit to it for him to feel so faint with the pounding in it.
The door to the room creaked open and there were foots
Tatt knew he was ready to protect this child seating here with him and begging to be sent home with his life. She didn't deserve to die here even if that's what the boss wanted. She was too young, with her whole life still ahead of her and too innocent to be used as a threat warning. He didn't give a fuck' what the old guy wanted. He'd made it clear the day he'd signed up with them that there'd be no kid casualties and the man had agreed, he probably had mini amnesia that he hoped to cure with his defiance. He zoned out watching her while Shaggs had ranted on and on about what the boss wanted him to do with her. Was this what it had been with his boy? Some boss out back taking a drag out of his Cuban Ciga and giving orders that his life be snuffed so early as a revenge to his boy. He'd even forgotten about the guy that Shaggs had dragged into the room at gun point until he'd started yanking hard on his restraints and th
With the poor signalling in the fucking garage, it took a while before Brad got the signal from Jordan's device but he did, at least he'd believed it to be his own coming from somewhere inside, and he had to do some thinking before he proceeded. Albeit the fact that this was his most I'll prepped rescue mission, it wasn't his first and he knew the drill. The fucking signal was stationary, and if there's anything he knew about Jordan, it was that the man wouldn't be standing at a spot for as long as this one was. Jordan was a hot blooded fellow under fire and sometimes that pushed him to go irrational, acting before thinking and if that was the case currently, it only meant one thing. Thry weren't going in to rescue a little girl now, they had his best friend to think of now too. Those bastard obviously had him and that didn't bode well for them, he had to think and act fast. It was confirmed when he got the guys to converge and he turn
Jordan didn't think he'd make it out of that room alive, he didn't think the guys would make it in early enough to save them, yet here they were. But he owed Riley's life to the big guy that had been in the room with them. Tatt, they had called him. Though it irked him to hell and back that they'd taken her in the first place and he'd watched him get beaten to within an inch of his life, it was thanks to him that the raging, trigger happy asshole lying face flat on the floor hadn't killed his princess. With all the pain and blood running down his face, he managed a smile at the feel of the tiny arms around him. She'd run over to him as soon as she'd seen him. And it hard hurt him to see her like this, to have her see him like this, but it was okay because they were both fine. Thankfully, the surprise attack had worked. It wouldn't have though if Brad hadn't called the other guys back out because, as he'd just found out,
JoJo had it in her hands, the key to everything, to all their pain and fears and the mysteries and it felt so fucking small, do trivial in its size.It was her father's old watch, she could remember it from the years when she'd been younger. It was funny how all these details hadn't registered with her in all her rush to get to it, to retrieve it and save her sister. The hassle at the creepy firm she'd just been at and the ridiculously over priced ride home hadn't mattered one bit to her.It had all passed in a blur and she'd been standing over the phone waiting for the call to come in asking for it so she can go to wherever they want to drop it off, be it the end of the earth. But when it did, it had been Brad instead, asking her to stay put and giving her the best news she's heard all day.Her baby was okay. She couldn't wait to hold her again and confirm for herself that she was indeed okay. And while she waited, she's paced
"What did you say Brooks? She can talk?"She asked, her voice high pitched, breaking her embrace with the other woman.Brooks face was a dead give away to her question.God, no."Easy child, don't make this too hard on both of you. She had her reasons, reasons you appreciate one day."The disbelief was clear as day on JoJo's face."I don't think so Brooks," she cried, tears coming in torrents again."I've spent half my life devoted to her and the best she could do is lie to me? I don't think any reason can make up for that......"The older woman came to hold her again, letting her get all the tears out.She was about saying something else though when they heard a car pull up so close to the front door.JoJo jerked out of Brooks arms, her heart beating her to death.God, please let it be them, she prayed even as she rushed outside. The door opened and out came Adam carrying....."Oh my Go
Jordan wasn't thinking of the pain that was shooting through him as JoJo held on to him, he was thinking about how much he's missed her instead. His little fire cracker. She looked stressed and tired and broken, he'd seen all that while she'd been fussing over Riley, before she turned to see him standing behind her and it annoyed him to know that he hadn't been able to save her all that pain and trouble, but he was here now, it'd get better."She kept mumbling 'I'm sorry' into his clothes, staining the front of his shirt with her tears that he'd rather not see, like it was her fault he'd charged in head first without thinking of the consequences or that he'd been caught and beaten up.Of course it wasn't and look, it had paid off and they had their little princess back home. For someone they'd just rescued, Riley was doing well already, chasing after her puppy.Hopefully, she'd have no lingering trauma from that incident. She was too
JoJo's heart was beating a tattoo in her chest all the while that JoJo attended to Jordan.Adam had left and it was just the two of them in the house.Of course, it had all to with how battered he really was and nothing with her excitement at having him back home.At least that's what she told herself and hopefully she'd learn to believe it.In all the craziness in the past twenty four hours, she'd barely had the luxury of thinking about them, about him and what he must be going through, she'd been more focused on her family and it's chaos. But now, with the whole fire over and all, she could finally take a breath. She couldn't even stomach the thought of having anything happen to him, she loves him that much, and if he hadn't come back from this, she wouldn't have forgiven herself for pushing him so much.He groaned even as she tried to help him wash his body, she could only imagine how much pain he was in with all the purpling patch
He was in bed with his doctor checking him before she ventured out.The man had asked her to let him rest and she had every intention of doing just that. She had pressing matters of her, like answers to the questions messing with her head. She went down the stairs, lost in her own head.Of course she had Meghan to question but she didn't want to face her mother just yet, she wanted time.Maybe till forever. She bumped into Brooks at the bottom of the stairs and the questions in those wide eyes couldn't be any mistaken. The woman worried about Jordan more than an ordinary house keeper would worry for her master. She probably does see him as her son now."He's fine, Brooky, still in bed with the doctor fussing over him and he hates it."She made a face and smile when she noticed Brooks try to hide the relief the news brought her,and failing miserably."It scared me to see that way, scared me to death."
