Jordan didn't think he'd make it out of that room alive, he didn't think the guys would make it in early enough to save them, yet here they were.
But he owed Riley's life to the big guy that had been in the room with them.
Tatt, they had called him.
Though it irked him to hell and back that they'd taken her in the first place and he'd watched him get beaten to within an inch of his life, it was thanks to him that the raging, trigger happy asshole lying face flat on the floor hadn't killed his princess.
With all the pain and blood running down his face, he managed a smile at the feel of the tiny arms around him.
She'd run over to him as soon as she'd seen him.
And it hard hurt him to see her like this, to have her see him like this, but it was okay because they were both fine.
Thankfully, the surprise attack had worked.
It wouldn't have though if Brad hadn't called the other guys back out because, as he'd just found out,
Im sorry if you find this chapter a little skipped from the last one.......had an issue updating that one yesterday, have fixed it and the missing part of 80 I should be up by tomorrow morning. One again, I'm sorry for the glitches and waits guys, hope I get forgiven🥺❤️❤️
JoJo had it in her hands, the key to everything, to all their pain and fears and the mysteries and it felt so fucking small, do trivial in its size.It was her father's old watch, she could remember it from the years when she'd been younger. It was funny how all these details hadn't registered with her in all her rush to get to it, to retrieve it and save her sister. The hassle at the creepy firm she'd just been at and the ridiculously over priced ride home hadn't mattered one bit to her.It had all passed in a blur and she'd been standing over the phone waiting for the call to come in asking for it so she can go to wherever they want to drop it off, be it the end of the earth. But when it did, it had been Brad instead, asking her to stay put and giving her the best news she's heard all day.Her baby was okay. She couldn't wait to hold her again and confirm for herself that she was indeed okay. And while she waited, she's paced
"What did you say Brooks? She can talk?"She asked, her voice high pitched, breaking her embrace with the other woman.Brooks face was a dead give away to her question.God, no."Easy child, don't make this too hard on both of you. She had her reasons, reasons you appreciate one day."The disbelief was clear as day on JoJo's face."I don't think so Brooks," she cried, tears coming in torrents again."I've spent half my life devoted to her and the best she could do is lie to me? I don't think any reason can make up for that......"The older woman came to hold her again, letting her get all the tears out.She was about saying something else though when they heard a car pull up so close to the front door.JoJo jerked out of Brooks arms, her heart beating her to death.God, please let it be them, she prayed even as she rushed outside. The door opened and out came Adam carrying....."Oh my Go
Jordan wasn't thinking of the pain that was shooting through him as JoJo held on to him, he was thinking about how much he's missed her instead. His little fire cracker. She looked stressed and tired and broken, he'd seen all that while she'd been fussing over Riley, before she turned to see him standing behind her and it annoyed him to know that he hadn't been able to save her all that pain and trouble, but he was here now, it'd get better."She kept mumbling 'I'm sorry' into his clothes, staining the front of his shirt with her tears that he'd rather not see, like it was her fault he'd charged in head first without thinking of the consequences or that he'd been caught and beaten up.Of course it wasn't and look, it had paid off and they had their little princess back home. For someone they'd just rescued, Riley was doing well already, chasing after her puppy.Hopefully, she'd have no lingering trauma from that incident. She was too
JoJo's heart was beating a tattoo in her chest all the while that JoJo attended to Jordan.Adam had left and it was just the two of them in the house.Of course, it had all to with how battered he really was and nothing with her excitement at having him back home.At least that's what she told herself and hopefully she'd learn to believe it.In all the craziness in the past twenty four hours, she'd barely had the luxury of thinking about them, about him and what he must be going through, she'd been more focused on her family and it's chaos. But now, with the whole fire over and all, she could finally take a breath. She couldn't even stomach the thought of having anything happen to him, she loves him that much, and if he hadn't come back from this, she wouldn't have forgiven herself for pushing him so much.He groaned even as she tried to help him wash his body, she could only imagine how much pain he was in with all the purpling patch
He was in bed with his doctor checking him before she ventured out.The man had asked her to let him rest and she had every intention of doing just that. She had pressing matters of her, like answers to the questions messing with her head. She went down the stairs, lost in her own head.Of course she had Meghan to question but she didn't want to face her mother just yet, she wanted time.Maybe till forever. She bumped into Brooks at the bottom of the stairs and the questions in those wide eyes couldn't be any mistaken. The woman worried about Jordan more than an ordinary house keeper would worry for her master. She probably does see him as her son now."He's fine, Brooky, still in bed with the doctor fussing over him and he hates it."She made a face and smile when she noticed Brooks try to hide the relief the news brought her,and failing miserably."It scared me to see that way, scared me to death."
The doctor had a lot of things to say to Jordan, a lot of warnings and a lot of instructions to be followed for quick recovery. And it'd take the opening of hell and the release of Hades and his minions to make him do any of them. He has his life and his company to run and those are the things that won't stay and watch him waste two weeks on bed rest. Well, except with the right incentives, he might be tempted to give in for half the time. But for the most part, he wanted out already, nothing will be keeping him in bed for that long. He'd agreed to get the man off his back. His phone rang by his bedside, ramping up his headache beyond measure and he wanted to curse the devil out of whoever the caller was. He searched for the damn thing and picked it up to answer the call. He could well do with it on silent for the rest of the day, his head still hurt too much to endure that again. With colorful curses raining fr
She did come, much later, but it wasn't for the reasons he'd had in mind, it was written all over her face and he could read that face like it was his favorite book. Something was wrong, something he couldn't put his fingers on and she wasn't up to talking about it with him and he lacked the force to push her to spill yet. Their relationship at the moment was fragile and he was of the opinion the he might make her snap under his intensity if he pushed too hard and she might make good of the threat that was left lying low for the mean time but definitely brewing hot on the surface. He wasn't prepared to loose her or what they have, not now or ever. She and her family have come to become his in this period of staying with him and he's come to realise they were. He wasn't going to loose that when he can wait and resolve this in a much better much suitable way. He watched her just climb into bed next to him on the bed, after giving him the
Meghan had it hard trying to make up for the deceit she'd fed to her daughter, and Bree was having it harder accepting the way things have become. In the day, shee spends her energy working alongside Brooks to take care of everyone and at night, after she's put Riley to sleep, she creeps into the arms of Jordan for the gift of oblivion. He might not know it but he was a source of peace and escape for her and for that, she owed him. He worried about her, she knew that, but she had nothing to offer him, not even an explanation because she had none, at least not now. She'd offer it, when she has the answers she needed. Her mother was still struggling with her voice, it was taking too longer to get it after silencing it for a fucking decade, and as such making getting the answers she wanted a difficult feat. And for some reasons, she had no inclination to look into the secrets that have been buried for the entire decade on her own.
