Chapter 11 Invisible man

“I wish I could ignore you as you ignore me.”-Unknown

Dexter POV

Today I clear out some time to spend with my sweet pie but this round with Elsie joining us. Talking about her, it had been two weeks since she avoided me after the incident in the basement. She avoided me at every corner of the house and not even spares me a glance, literally she just treated me as an invisible man that doesn't exist in the mansion.

I walked towards the kitchen and saw her preparing the food for our picnic later. She placed the food in the lunch box and put it inside the big basket. Andrea entered the kitchen after a moment.

“Morning sweet pie,” I greeted at the moment I saw her and hugged her in my arms. I gave her a morning kiss which she returned as usual.

“Morning daddy, morning Elsie.” She grinned with a big smile on her face.

“Good morning, princess.”

“Morning kiss,” Andrea gestured her to come closer to us. I still holding Andrea in my arms not letting her go as I wanted to see how she will react to Andrea’s request.

She walked towards us ignoring the fact that Andrea was in my arm. Andrea crossed her right arm on Elsie’s shoulder while her other hand on my shoulder. She accidentally pushed her towards me which made her arm collides with mine. I felt her skin touched mine. I stared at her but as usual, she just pretended I wasn't there. This woman was incredible.

Andrea kissed her cheek and she did the same to her. She pulled away instantly to create a distance away from me.

“Are you ready for the picnic?” She asked Andrea and took her from my grip, totally ignoring me.

“Yeah, I’m ready,” Andrea raised her hands in the mid-air.

“Yes, let’s go.” She walked to the kitchen counter ready to grab the basket full of food but I stopped her.

“I will bring that,” I said snatching the basket from the kitchen counter and our hands clashed against each other, one more time. She didn’t show any response and walked to the front door without thanking me. Whoa, now I’m hurt. She can’t ignore me like this. This is too much.

This is what you want. The voice echoed in my head which I’m lazy to entertain.

After 45 minutes of driving on the road with Andrea and Elsie in the passenger seat, we finally arrived at the lakeside garden. I parked the car near the entrance so we don’t need to walk far to enter the place. I hold Andrea while Elsie takes the basket with her. We walked side by side looking for a good spot for a picnic.

I chose a spot facing the lake which was less crowded. Elsie spread the mat on the grass and placed the basket. I gently placed Andrea on the ground.

“Daddy, I want to go nearer to the lake,” she said pointing to the lake in front of us.

“Ok, let’s go.” I gripped her little hand and brought her closer to the lake.

“Is there any fish inside?” She squatted beside the lake and observing the water.

“Yes, you see they give food to the fish,” I said pointing to the few kids that busy throwing fish feed into the water.

“Wow, I want to do it too, daddy.”

“Hmm, let me see. Let’s bring you to Elsie first. I will get that for you, okay?” I lightly pinched her cheek.

“Okay.” She grinned.

I walked her to Elsie. She was busy taking out the food from the basket and arranging it on the mat.

“Here, take her. I will buy some fish feed.” I requested which she nodded without any word. I turned my head glancing at them when I heard her voice.

“Come, Andrea. Sit here. Let’s eat something first before your daddy comes back,” she pulled her hand making her sit on the mat beside her.

Elsie POV

After 10 minutes alone with Andrea, the beast finally shows up with a bag of plastic and balloons in his hand. He walked towards us but I looked away and pretended to be busy entertaining Andrea. Luckily this kid won’t stop talking.

“Daddy!” She screamed when I told her to look behind her.

“Hey, look what daddy got for you.” He said showing the plastic bags to her. Her eyes widen due to the excitement.

“Let’s give them food.” She said, rushed to the lake.

“Hey, slow down sweet pie.”

“Here, take this.” He handed me the balloons and runs to catch Andrea that was now running to the lake. I saw how he entertained her and make her laughed. I guess he still had the kindness in him which only Andrea gets to experience.

A moment later, they came to where I sat. Andrea took the balloons from my hand and running around us while he sat on the mat beside me with a distance between us.

He rested himself on the mat and took a sausage from the lunch box.

“Can you give me some drink?” He asked which made me turned to look at the drinks beside me.

“What do you want?” I asked not sure which drinks that he prefers as I’ve prepared orange juices, milk, and hot coffee.

“Orange juice will do,” and I poured him the orange juice in the paper cup. I handed him the cup with my eyes looking at the cup.

He suddenly grabbed my hand instead of the paper cup. I immediately glazed at him. I wanted to wriggle but it will spill the drink.

“What are you doing? Release my hand,” I scolded tried to control my voice, don’t want Andrea to notice it.

“Until when you will treat me like an invisible man?” He stared at my face, not letting go of my hand.

“Isn’t this what you want? I just do what you asked me to,” I raised my eyebrows.

“I didn't ask you to treat me like an invisible man.”

“Then, how should I treat you? Like a mafia king?” I said the last few words in a slow tone. He hissed, annoyed with my questions.

“Don’t do anything that I don’t like,” he tightened his grip on me.

“Or else?”

“I will punish you.” His eyes darken.

“By torturing me in the cell and killing me?” I smirked.

“No, I will arrange a special punishment for you. It will please both of us and maybe you will love it more than I do.” This time I saw a smug smile. I can’t read what inside his mind but my body can sense that it will be something out of my mind.

He finally released my hand and took the cup from me when Andrea approached us.
