"Mom, did you hear that sound?" I asked.

"What sound, dear?"

"The humming noise," I clarified.

We were in the forest, my dad gathering dead branches for firewood. After a while, I sat down a short distance from my parents, who were both engrossed in their task.

Suddenly, I noticed a young boy around my age on my right. He was waving and smiling at me, so I returned the gesture. Intrigued, I got up and slowly approached him.

"Hey, what brings you here?" I asked when I reached him. "Isn't it obvious? This is where I live."

"Oh, us too! My parents and I live not far from here. Are your parents around?" I inquired.

The boy paused before responding, "I live here alone. I don't have parents." My eyes widened in surprise. Could he really be around eight or nine, like me, and living by himself? I immediately embraced him, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you."
