"Do you trust me now?" Anthony asked after the result was out. He had passed the lie detector test.
Faith looked down and nodded. She always believed in him and didn't want to accuse him of anything, but she felt this matter was too serious to ignore.
Anthony moved forward and nuzzled against her neck. "If there's anything else you want me to do, I'll do it in a heartbeat. Just don't leave my side."
Faith didn't say anything. She was starting to feel guilty for doubting him and questioning his intentions.
"So the results came out negative, huh? You think that makes you innocent?"
She was startled to hear Phil's voice. How long has he been watching them?
"I think you've overstayed your welcome, Phillip. Why don't you pack your bags and leave us? Thanks for visiting," Anthony said curtly. Faith felt his hand squeezing hers. He was getting angry again.
"I'll leave but not before I get what I need. She is naïve enough to fall for you
Anthony stared at her without blinking. It was as if the shock of Faith's big news stunned him and he didn't know what to do with himself. His eyes turned wide then they lit up with joy. "Oh, sweetheart!" Arms fell around Faith, and a scent of aftershave wafted over her instantly, tearing up her eyes. Anthony's sudden embrace was warm, yet there was no removing that suspicious churning in the pit of her belly. She wanted a child, but the thought of raising a little life with a man she didn't fully trust gave wake to a horrid headache. They were married, yet there was no ignoring the burning question within her mind: how could she ever trust such a controlling man with her child?
Anthony didn't know what to say at first. A strange young woman was hugging him like they'd known each other forever. He had no idea who she was, but he could kind of guess. She looked just like Faith."Eh...who are you?" he cleared his throat and pried her off of him.The girl grinned ear to ear. "Faith, tell him!"Faith giggled, and Anthony snapped his head toward her. He had never seen her smile like that. She was radiant. This girl made her this happy? Why couldn't he do it too? He felt a bit jealous."Um...Anthony. This is my sister, Jodie. She lives out of state. I told you about her, remember?" Faith said."Ah," Anthony still didn't know what to say. He searched his brain to remember anything about Jodie, but Faith didn't exactly talk about her much. He did remember Faith having an estranged sister who was in medical school."I came to see my older sister. She is like a mother to me, so I hope you don't mind my intrusion. I promise I'll get out of your hair in a few days," Jodi
"I am a little worried about Jodie." Faith looked at Anthony and frowned."Why?" Anthony looked at her with surprise. They had already settled in bed, ready to sleep, although sleep wasn't what was in his mind.Stop it, Anthony. Stop attacking your wife like a hungry wolf every night. Things had been tense between Faith and him ever since Phil poisoned her mind with lies about him. He felt the constant need to make sure she was okay, and she still wanted to be with him.He couldn't let her leave him. The thought of being alone again scared him to his core."I don't know. Jodie seems a little too energetic."Anthony chuckled. "Is that a bad thing? You should be glad she is happy, right?""Yes. But Jodie wasn't like this before. I mean, she was always a bit energetic, but I feel like she is overly excited about everything?"Anthony wasn't sure where Faith was going with it. "Do you want me to tell her to tone it down?"Faith shook her head. "No, that's not what I'm saying. I just hope s
Phil closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath as the water dripped down his face and body. This was going to be his last night here. He knew now that he couldn't get Anthony to confess. He had passed the lie detector, and his other explanations checked out too. Anthony was telling the truth about Myra. She was an addict. Phil found her old doctors and therapists, and they all shared the same opinion. Myra was mentally disturbed. But what if Anthony paid them to lie? No, that can't be. Anthony may be a billionaire, but he couldn't keep everyone's mouth shut. Besides, Phil noticed it himself. Myra wasn't entirely sane. So that means Anthony could be telling the truth this whole time. He didn't kill anyone. But then what about the letter? How can Myra accuse Anthony of those horrible things? Phil reached for the shower knob when the door suddenly opened. He was startled. Who would come inside his room at this hour? Was it Anthony? What the hell did he want now? Phil stepped out
Phil walked into the room, and Jody moved back to let him in."Hey, Jody." He winked and closed the door behind him. What was he doing in her room after he had just kicked her out? And what was up with that devilish smile?Phil slowly walked closer to her, and she took little steps backward until she couldn't. She had run out of the room as he had backed her against the bed.Phil moved even closer to her until they were inches away. He slowly reached for her hair and tucked it behind her ear.Jody held his breath as he reached out and touched her cheek."Jody," He whispered."Y...yes?" Jody stammered, her heart was pounding so hard she felt like it wanted to jump out of her chest."I'm sorry, I kicked you out of my room. Ever since I did that, I can't stop thinking about you.""You can't?" Jody breathed."No. You are beautiful and so fucking sexy.""I think you are sexy too," she said in a hoarse whisper. Was this really happening? She had felt instantly attracted to him since she lai
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Faith asked as Anthony would not stop staring at her. "Looking at you like what?" Anthony teased. "You know, you keep staring at me like you want to eat me or something." Faith giggled. Anthony's lips curled into a teasing smile. "Well, I wouldn't mind eating you at the moment, but we are in public. But if you really want me to..." "Anthony! Behave yourself," Faith scolded him. "Gosh, I can't help it. You look even more beautiful than before. I didn't even know it was possible," Anthony gushed. "You are crazy," Faith said, blushing profusely. He really is too much sometimes. "Crazy in love," Anthony declared. Faith went quiet. She still couldn't bring herself to say it back to him, and it started to weigh on her. It wasn't fair to Anthony. His love for her seemed genuine, and it made her feel like a terrible person for not returning his affection. And the whole thing with murder... "Faith," Anthony's voice brought her back to reality aga
"Mmm....so good," Jody made a loud moaning noise as she bit into her beef stroganoff.Phil frowned, knowing she was doing it on purpose, just to tick him off."Yass... it's the best," she moaned again, and this time, Phil couldn't stay quiet."Would you stop?" He barked."Stop what?" Jody feigned ignorance."Stop moaning and groaning like that, it's unsettling," Phil said."Oh stop it! You are so grumpy!" Jody laughed. "I'm just messing around with you.""Well, stop doing that.""But this pasta is really good. Are you sure you don't want a bite?" Jody twisted some pasta into her fork and then held it in front of Phil's face.Phil backed up, his frown deepening. "Yes, I'm sure I don't want any. I don't eat red meat," he said."A hunk of man like you don't eat red meat? That is absurd," Jody commented."You know what is absurd? You are. You are the most uncouth, ill-mannered woman I've ever met," Phil said bitterly."Oh no, daddy, are you mad?" Jody pouted."Stop calling me daddy alread
Jody didn't know what came over her when she said that to Phil. She didn't go around having one-night stands, but she considered making an exception. For Phil. But why? It's not like she was desperate. Men constantly asked her out on dates, so she had plenty of options in her world. So why Phil? She knew for a fact that it wasn't about the money he had or how good-looking he was. She couldn't care less. She had her career planned out and strived to be a successful and independent woman. Someone she never got to be when living under her father's roof. The control he had on her and her sisters was unbearable. She was strangely attracted to Phil. There was something primal about him she liked. It made her want his hands all over her body.Jody frowned as she remembered Phil was supposed to be leaving tonight. She didn't anticipate him to come back anytime soon. They lived nowhere near each other, either. So that means she could lose the chance to be with him forever, and that simply won'
