Chapter 03

--Having real friends around is one of the best feelings one can ever feel.--

Snow's POV.

"Whuut?" I mumbled in a sleep filled voice as I slowly pushed myself unto my elbows.

Emma bounced on the bed twice, the side where I was currently lying in dipped a little to my irritation but I shoved it to the back of my mind as I pushed up into a sitting position.

"Check this email out!" Emma pressed again as she handed me my phone after picking it up from its spot on the side table. I unlocked my phone slowly, a small feeling of dread settling in the depths of my stomach as I pondered on the different negative options running through my head at the moment.

They rejected me?

That's probably it, why else would they be replying an application sent to them by 07:40pm, and sending across a reply around 09:05pm?

They obviously didn't even review my application letter, that's totally unfair!

Different kinds of thoughts were swimming through my head as I unconsciously slowed down in the process of unlocking my phone.

"Come on, check it out already! It's a good thing, stop over thinking it." Emma groaned out between amused laughs, her words dragging my head from the negative part it went into a moment ago.

"How would you know?" I mumbled out as I quickly typed in the password and unlocked the phone, a phone which I'd planned to change as soon as I start working and start earning a reasonable amount, but I guess not everything works out according to plan.

"Your email address is registered on my laptop, remember? I saw the email already." Emma countered as she stood up from my side on the bed to get her laptop from its spot on the couch.

Oh, right.

I opened the email which came in two minutes ago, my breath hitched in my throat after I read the content of the email.

www.netsglobalcompany@noreply.com

Hello, Snow Vans-

We've scheduled an interview for you 'TOMORROW' by 07:45am.

Do come along with your 'CREDENTIALS'.

Ensure to arrive on time.

Best regards,

Nets.

I blinked once, then twice, before rereading the email again, the moment the content of the email hit home, I squealed loudly, excitement lacing my voice as I bounced on the bed, a wide smile peaking out across my face, Emma's facial expression mirrored mine as she sat down on the bed beside me, her laptop placed on a pillow behind her, this time.

"You've gotten the job, girlie!" Emma gushed with my nodding my head vigorously in reply before a side thought made it way into my head, putting my excited high on hold.

Wait...

"Why did they reply me by this time? The reply was sent in by..." I checked the time the message came in again just to be sure. "...09:05pm. Isn't it a little bit weird?"

I voiced out my thoughts to Emma who had a thoughtful expression on her face. I shook my head almost immediately before adding.

"Actually scratch that, isn't it a lot weird? I mean... Do people work at 09:05pm? No, they don't. But I got a reply by that time. Maybe it was a glitch or something." I muttered as I fell flat on the bed, a small sigh left my lips, I knew it was a tad to good to be true.

"Nah, I don't think so. Some people actually work till they sleep off at night, that way, it makes their job a lot easier the next day instead of leaving everything and allowing them to cluster up, that can be one hell of a work." Emma explained with a shrug of her almost bare shoulders which held up thin spaghetti hands of the small pink camisole she wore at the moment before continuing.

"I'm working at the moment, gurl. Why else would I stay on the laptop for hours without listening to music?"

Oh, that explains it.

Emma, Christie and I graduated from the famous Exlars College a month ago, we're four in numbers actually, there's still Cara, but she's in Italy at the moment, she went to join the family business immediately after graduating, unlike the remaining three of us who doesn't have any kind of family businesses to join immediately after college.

I studied Calculations and businesses, along with the rest of my three best friends, although Emma, Christie and Cara could afford the school normally, I couldn't. I had to apply for a scholarship before graduating from highschool which I got granted fortunately.

Unfortunately, the scholarship covered just my school fees and some other fees concerning the registration process, I and my family were to fend for the rest.

With my single mother who barely paid the bills at home, I didn't even bothered stressing her about it, I made my way through college by helping in the library opposite the college and selling my painting randomly to raise small cash. My friends were a very big help too, and no matter how hard I tried not to accept their offered help, I always end up accepting or needing the help, most times.

I'm just glad that phase of my life is now over. Done and dusted.

Now, to work and earn.

That doesn't look so promising like it did the moment I, in the traditional graduating cape and cap, accepted the firm handshake our chancellor shared with me as he handed me my certificate amidst the loud applauds of the guests.

Emma for a job two weeks after graduating, she works in a bank at the moment as the assisting director in the bank with a good pay, while Christie got a employed a week ago, she works in a company dealing with shares also with a good pay.

They haven't been paid anything yet as their days used in working I'm their respective place of work haven't been up to thirty days yet.

At least, their stories are still better than mine. For one, I'll be greeted with darkness once I get back home, which was a one room apartment, second of all, my rent wound soon be due again which only added strain to my already overstrained brain.

"So, I'm going to the interview tomorrow." I breathed out with a nod of my head, as if waiting for another extra confirmation to be brought to me.

"Yep." Emma echoed, her head bent over the laptop as her fingers quickly moved across the keyboards, the sounds doing a 'tap, tap' dance in the room.

"Where's Christie?" I asked after a few minutes of me playing with my fingers on the bed.

"Oh, she had to go get what we'd be having for dinner, she'll be back soon."

"Oh, what the fuck, Snow White!" Christie gushed out as she bounced on the bed the minute I excitedly informed her about the good news after she walked through the door with what she went to get in a nylon bag.

"I know, right? I still think it's unreal, but..." I countered as I trailed off with a shrug of my shoulders but Christie smacked me on my shoulder as she rolled her eyes before pointing out.

"But what? This is a miracle, Snow! Don't ruin it with your mind. It's real as it can ever get." She admonished.

"Alright." I let out a breath as I slouched down one the bed once again.

Be positive, Snow.

Think positivity!

"Oh crap, what would I wear tomorrow? I've totally forgotten, the interview starts by 07:45am in the morning and I have to be there at least ten minutes before the scheduled time, and I don't even know the appropriate thing to wear." I cried out as I ran my fingers through my hair as I pushed my empty bag of chips away from me, a frustrated expression on my face.

Christie brought three bag of chips for me with three bottles of soda drinks for the three of us to have for dinner which was more than satisfying for me.

I've always loved chips since I was little, the crave got much worse when I got into college, I could eat five bags of chips in a day without getting tired of it, well until my teeth starts protesting by aching for a little while.

"Chill out, Snow White. There's nothing much for you to worry about, you're to dress cooperate anyways, you'll just be dressed in a white and black outfit to appear more presentable." Christie explained as she tried bringing down my hysterical worry, her bag of chips barely gone halfway unlike mine which was already empty.

That's so true, how hard can an interview get anyways?

Emma's and Christie's interviews did went quite well from what I got told.

I should really stop worrying and over thinking everything.

******

I barely had any sleep due to how nervous I was, and how my tensed up mind just wouldn't relax even tho Emma and Christie did try their possible best to calm me down, it was all fruitless as I finally fell asleep between Emma and Christie on their wide bed by 02:45am.

To say I was surprised when I glanced at the time on my phone which I still managed to roll over on, even tho I know how weak the phone is, the moment I peeled my eyes open and saw that the time was just 06:20am.

I shook Christie who was lying closest to me till she peeked her head from under the which duvet she had over her whole body, a small groan left her lips when she took note of the time, she fell back on the bed and made to pull the duvet over her disheveled looking hair but I dragged the whole duvet from her body to her irritation.

Christie wasn't a morning person, heck, neither of us were in my small group of friends, but then Christie get so grumpy most morning, it gets funny sometimes when we decides to tease the fuck out of her till she ends up dashing to the bathroom in irritation to take her bath. Only for her to come out, looking fresh with smiles on her face unlike the way she went into the bathroom.

Yup, that's Christie for you.

"Dammit, Snow White! Just a few more minutes." Christie let out with a whine as she tried squeezing herself into a fur ball but I rolled my eyes as I pulled her till she was almost off the bed before pointing out to her.

"Come on, I still haven't decided on what to wear to the interview today and you have to help me make the final decision." I informed a grumpy looking Christie who still looked like she was considering going back to sleep as she still remained perched on the edge of the rumpled bed as she lazily made to unlock her phone.

"Final decision? I thought we concluded on one outfit last night/this early morning?" She demanded as she fingers tapped away on her phone, the sleep finally clearing away from her eyes.

"We didn't, well we almost did. It's just remaining the colour of the shirt this time." I explained with a shrug of my shoulders as I picked up a towel which I'll use to have my bath.

"Oh. Let's wake Emma up then, let's decide."

"No, no. She overstressed herself last night, let's wake her up after having our baths." I deadpanned before holding out a white shirt and a purple one, I shook the materials in my hands against Christie's face when she took more than a few seconds to decide on the right one.

"Pick one already!" I pressed as I practically buried her chuckling face in the shirts with the way I was waving them over her head.

"Alright, alright. The white one?" She drawled in a questioning tone. I narrowed my eyes at her in frustration, she let out a small chuckle before grabbing the white shirt from my grip and held it out before giving it an approving nod.

"This is it. Black and white gives off the best professional aura. At least for me. But then I like fashion and I think the purple would look sexy as fuck on you, but then... It's an interview which means we're aiming for the professional side more than the fashionable side..." She trailed off with a dismissive shrug of her shoulders before continuing.

"Well, for now we'll do professional all through the first month to impress, like our lectures always pointed out to us every time. Wait until you get paid your first fucking salary, oh damn, we're going to rock sexy, daring and professional in one look. I can't wait to get paid my first salary." She gushed out then ended it with a deep sigh, a longing look in her eyes made me chuckle softly which made her roll her eyes at me before handing me back my shirt.

I nodded in agreement to what she pointed out. Just wait until I get paid my first salary, the world is gonna see a difference in the aura. I snickered to myself as I collected my shirt from Christie's outstretched hands before finally making my way into the bathroom to get ready for the interview.

This is it, the walk into my successful future.

Hopefully. I couldn't help but add the last part as I stood outside the huge building in a black skirt which was almost brushing my knees, a smooth and ironed white shirt, a matching jacket and a three inches black heels. With my hair arranged into a tight doughnut on my head, I knew I was as professional looking as I could ever get.

Lord, the building was fucking huge, and the amount of stories the building has, Jesus Christ.

I tried counting the amount of stories the building has but I stopped when I got to twenty and it didn't look like I was halfway to the top.

How would I even get a job here?

This big a place... I'm sure even the receptionist working here probably already had years of experience down before even bothering applying for a job here.

A glance at my phone made my eyes widen in shock when I took note of the time.

07:25am.

What the fuck?

How the heck did I end up being this late?

I'm very sure my lecturers in school are probably shaking their beads at me disapprovingly at the time I was planning on walking into an interview when they had always made sure to point out how very important it was for people going for an interview needs to be there at least thirty minutes earlier to put up a very amazing first impression, which was my plan at first, by the way...

Oh well...
