Later that night
Darrelle's POV
"It isn't as fancy as you're probably expecting," I said my hands still covering her eyes.
"I don't care, just don't let me fall," she said and I chuckled as we walked closer to the lake where I had placed the blanket.
"Keep your eyes closed," I ordered and she nodded as I removed my hands she stood there and I moved over to the blanket placing down the basket with the food.
"Alright open your eyes," I said and she did, she smiled walking over to me.
"Do you like it?"
"We'll see," she said amused and I laughed holding out my hand, she took it as we sat down. The moon light offered enough light for us to see each other, it's reflection on the water also-
"You okay?" She asked and I nodded pulling off my jacket putting it beside me.
"There is food in the basket,"
"So why did you pick here?" She asked reaching into the basket.
"I wanted to be alone with you,"
"You're going to be clingy aren't you?" She asked and I chuckled.
"You're not normal you know that?"
"How so?" She asked amused taking out the grapes and I shook my head dismissing it.
"I'm in a park after hours with a guy I barely know," she replied amused and I smiled.
"And plus I'm probably not the first girl you brought here," she added
"Actually you are," I said truthfully and she rolled her eyes.
"You're really difficult, you know that right?" I told her
"So I've been told," she replied eating another grape.
"How many?" I asked after a couple seconds and she looked over to me confused.
"How many what?"
"How many failed relationships?" She paused for a second looking at me before she finally spoke.
"My first relationship, was from high school to university, he cheated, my second relationship was a year after. It lasted two years and he cheated with his assistant, now my third lasted one year and he was sleeping with his bestfriend the entire time," she said taking a grape off the bunch putting it in her mouth.
"Woah," I said and she smiled, I looked at her admiring the way the light from the moon made her skin glow, what man in their right mind would hurt her.
"I don't know what is more shocking someone picking another woman over you or the fact you told me without an argument,"
"Might as well be open and honest because after this, I'll know whether I'm wasting my time or not," she replied eating another grape.
"So this is like my test trail?"
"Precisely," she replied and I chuckled.
"What about you?" She asked
"Well me, I've never really been in a relationship for more than a month,"
"I can see that,"
"What do you mean you can see that?"
"You just don't look like the type to settle down,"
"Well I'm about to," I said pushing back her hair away from her face.
"You must think you're really smooth," she said taking another grape and I chuckled.
"So your past made you hesitant to be with me?" I asked
"Of course my past played a role but the fact I overheard you talking to your friends about fucking me, also-"
"You heard that," I said laughing feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Yes I did,"
"I'm sorry," I said truthfully
"I would fuck me too," she replied and I chuckled not being able to figure her out. I sat there in silence just enjoying her presence.
"I love grapes you know that?" She asked softly taking another one looking at it.
"Now I do," I whispered watching her.
"I love looking at you," I confessed and her eyes met mine.
"How do I know you don't just want to fuck me?" She asked randomly and I smiled.
"You just have to trust me,"
"Easier said than done,"
"The course of love never did run smooth,"
"Shakespeare," she said smiling and I chuckled.
"Men's love lies not truly in their hearts but in their eyes," I said repeating the words she said to me when we first met.
"I love Shakespeare," she whispered pushing her hair back.
"Favorite book?"
"Merchant of Venice,"
"Portia?" I asked referring to the character.
"Yes," she replied laughing. "I had a crush on her for the longest time,"
"You were probably the weirdo in high school weren't you?" I asked amused glad I found a topic we could converse on freely.
"I was well known weirdo," she replied laughing slightly and I chuckled.
"What about you?" She asked.
"I played basketball," I said leaving her to fill in the blanks.
"Do you still play?"
"Sometimes,"
"My step father is a huge basketball fan," she told me in a nostalgic tone.
"Your parents are divorced?" I asked wanting my thoughts to be confirmed.
"My dad left when I was young,"
"The men in your life really weren't shit were they?" I asked and she laughed.

Darrelle's POVI sat there in her office it was 6:47 pm and had been here a little over twenty minutes just watching her."What time do you plan on leaving?" I asked and she shrugged looking up from her paperwork.
Darrelle's POVThe ringing continued and I rolled over realizing it was my phone, I picked it up running my hand over my face. I answered it realized that it was Nia calling."Hello," I said sleepily.
Darrelle'sPOVI walked into the building a bouquet of roses in my hand as I walked to receptionist, hoping she would send me up without any questions since I seemed to visit Nia everyday. I was trying to surprise her, I knew me visiting now would be unexpected since I usually came at night."I'm he-"
One week laterDarrelle'sPOV"Did you buy your plane ticket yet?" My sister asked me, and I shook my head saying no as I took a sip of my smoothie.
Darrelle's POV"So what are you doing later?" I asked cutting the silence short."Why?""You can never just answer my question can you?" I asked over the phone.
Darrelle's POVMy phone rang and I opened my eyes groaning when I realized it was still dark out, I grabbed my phone already pissed."This better be God," I said into the phone the moment I answered it.
Two days laterDarrelle's POV"I'm gone," Dantae said walking out with his suitcase in hand.
Darrelle's POVI sat in the car looking at the house, Since we were both in Florida Nia invited me to meet her parents something I never expected but trust me I wasn't mad.I walked towards the door double checking the address on my phone before knocking. It opened to reveal Nia she smiled coming outside closing the door. I looked at her confused as her eyes went to the bottle of wine in my hand.
