XXVII: Life Is A Game

I walked into my first class, slumping down next to Kai who knit his brows at the sight of me.

"You a'right?"

I huffed and gave him a look, "Do I look alright?"

Kai made an uncomfortable face, "Is it... y'know... ... or the kings again?"

I harshly bite my lower lip and blink rapidly. I scoff, "Clearly there's nothing else ill in my life, right? The world's sun is them."

Kai knits his brows, taken aback. He offers a look and places a careful hand on my shoulder, "Hey... what's going on? Did they do something to you?"

They're messing with my head. They're messing with my family. They're messing with my life.

My silence makes Kai ever more warry. He pulls his hand back but leans in, softly asking, "do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really." I retort, focusing on  Ms. Bedivere who was explaining something which just sounded like noises to me at this point.
