After a really long day of genuine physical and mental torture, I looked forward to going home so badly. I had Kai drive me graciously. Though the wonder twins insisted on driving me, as they were the ones that picked me up in the first place, I refused them.
When I got home, I knew it would be quiet. My older brother had work and so did my parents. Grandmother told me she and my younger sister would go out shopping, so I was pretty much safe.
I removed Kai's extra helmet and thanked him.
"Call me if anything ever comes up, okay?" he says after taking the helmet from me, placing it in the back compartment, and vrooming away.
I sniffled and wiped my nose, heading inside.
I squeal at the sudden shout of my name.
"LILAC LOURDES DAHLBERG!"
I turn to whomever spoke and easily found Roux. He was in the same clothing he woke up in, an indication he did not even leave the house, meaning he lied about going to work
The next day, I decided to wait until after classes to go to the principal's office. I also decided against telling the gang about my plan, not because I didn't trust them or anything, but because I want this issue to be as small as possible. Kai, I think, was suspecting I was going to do something big today, which is why the rest started to suspect as well. But it was Gail that really caught on. "So you're not going to report them to the principal's office?" she poked during lunchtime as everyone else looked on her interrogation. She nearly made me crack and spill everything, but I kept my mouth shut. "For the millionth time Gail, shut up.We're just getting lunch;I'mjust getting lunch. Geez." "Honestly," Nina said as Cece asked from some pasta, "I think youshouldtell the principal what has been happening." "I agree," Cece chimes in. I suck in a breath as I ge
It was my last subject for the day and both Javier and Marcus opted skip class today, leaving me only to deal with an insufferable Dae-Hyun that had fully enjoyed bickering with me, even though Mr. Pozwich shot him the dirtiest glares.I bid the quickest goodbye to Gail, telling her I had to leave as soon as possible. She didn't have time to call me out, as I was already out of the door.I was suddenly just in front of the principal's office.I sucked in a breath and held it in, reaching my hand out to the door knob. The moment I placed my hand on the metal, the door opened on it's own.I gasp and step back. My heart was beating in my ears.A bright skinned woman wearing a blue top appeared and smiled at me."Oh, bonjour!"I smile back at the woman I had met only once. "Hello Mrs. D'Froi."She smiles again, "Miss, actually."My jaw slacks, "Ah, I'm sorry I imposed.""It's alright," she bid in
I step out of the office and feel a lump in my throat drop down to my stomach."You know what would be great right now," I mutter to myself, "some Lychee juice.""Ya, what are you still doing here?" a voice spoke, causing me to jump up and squeal. The guy knit his brows and gripped the straps of his bag. "Why are you so jumpy?" Dae-hyun asks, turning to the door behind me. "Are you going to rat me out to the dean?" he chuckles out a scoff, "aren't you a little too spineless for that?"I turn to him and find myself fuming. He is fully satisfied with my reaction."Are you doing anything today, Dahlberg?"I roll my eyes, "as if that's any of your business." Upon saying this, I see Andy from down the hallway, and I remember instantly that he wanted to have a word with me. "Andy!" I call and wave at him, all before running towards him.Or at least Itriedrunning to him. Dae-hyun held me back.
I woke up with an unsettling feeling in my chest. I barely couldn't sleep with what Andy told me yesterday."When they tell you it's nothing to worry about, come see me."When.When.Not if.He took back the word if from his sentence because he was sure. This must mean Andy has done this before, surely. He has tried to tell on the kings and yet they still did whatever they wanted."Lilac," my mother calls from across the table, "your food's getting cold."I snap out from my train of thought and look upon my family. My father's on his phone, my brother is devouring his food like a monster, my sister and my mother are having a conversation about unicorns, and my grandmother is looking at me with raised brows."Is there something bothering you, darling?" granny asks.I purse my lips, "Is our principal a good one?""Olivia?" my gra
At this point, I had endured Dae-hyun bugging me in history class by kicking my chair ever so often.Javier hadn't been bothering me at all in any of our shared classes, which was good.Marcus wasn't in class again, and I began to feel concern, especially when I recalled his mom who was so sweet and kind to me. But then I remember his dad, and I get thrown off by the idea Marcus supposedly likes me.I shudder.I was currently in science class, sitting alone since again, my seatmate hadn't been going to school as of late. We had a bunch of activities handed to us today, and that's apart from all the previous ones we already had. I sigh, thinking of how much work it would be for him to catch up.Whatever, that wasn't my responsibility though.I don't care about Marcus. His mom is misguided, I...I growl and mess up my hair in frustration.I owe nothing to Marcus. It's still my decision if I want to hel
"Hey Roux," I said, as my brother and I walked to school. He hummed at that and turned to me, "I'm going to a football game today, remember?" "That's today?" I nodded. He knit his brows, "Didn't you tell methe moronsare on the football team?" My lack of a retort ticked him off. "You know you never told me what happened to you that one time." "It's fine Roux, I already told the principal about it. She said she'd get to the bottom of it." My brother narrowed his eyes, "Wait, is this why you asked if she was a good person? Do you think she won't do anything about it?" I turned to my brother and sighed, "I really don't know, Roux. Ireallydon't." He nods, "Well, if she doesn't, I'll become the principal of your school." I roll my eyes and chuckle, "Moron. You're under-qualified for that." "What? All grandma has to do is say the word." "Ew, and you want t
"Cece, is that Marcus?"Cece straightens up and frantically looks around the field. "Oh my gosh, you're right! What is he doing there?"Kai turns to us and asks about what we're talking about. We tell him and he frowns, "Is he that passionate about the sport so suddenly?""Honestly, these boys need to learn what it feels like to live without privilege." Cece notes. The game goes on well, much to my surprise. Not that I was hoping for our team to self-destruct or lose, but everyone on the field looked good and like they belonged there together. And that's saying a lot, considering the fact the kings are on that field. We cheered all our voices out that when half-time came, I felt my throat dry.It was also at this point, Tommy spotted me in the crowd. I waved at him with both of my arms, and so did Cece and Kai. I made a heart with my hands and pretended to throw it at him. Tommy laughed at this. Then all of a sudden, this player
Cece caught my hand, and turned to me, "Bebé,do you want to leave?" She screamed over the noise of the crowd, "he hasn't stopped looking at you since you noticed each other. I keep sending him death glares but he seems to only enjoy them."Ididwant to leave. Ireallydo want to leave. But it wouldn't be fair to Tommy, or Cece, or Kai."Listen, if you're worried about Tommy, I am pretty sure he'd want you to be comfortable, seeing he's so whipped for you." Cece added loudly, over the noise of the crowd, as if she heard my inner thought.I was about to agree, but then I remembered what Tommy told me about the game tonight.I felt my stomach swirl."He asked me out," I shouted at Cece, who then dropped her jaw."OH MY GOSH! What did you say?!""Well... the thing is, he only partially asked me out," I start and then explain the circumstance.Cece laughs
