Chapter 3: She Left the Pack

The sun rose bright and fair as the next morning came. Titania acted normal, even cheerful as if nothing happened.

But once she was inside her room, her smile faded quickly, revealing her true emotions.

Because after everything that happened last midnight, deep inside her, she was not okay.

She did her daily routine, greeting her fellow pack members, attending classes, and training.

She smiled, she laughed and she interacted with them, showing them that she was not affected.

But she could still feel that they were in doubt. She noticed their strange gaze and heard them talking in low voices.

She knew they were talking about her, about her failed transformation. But she pretended not to care.

She thought she could stand it for a long time but she was wrong. After three days, she could not act anymore. She could not face other members of their pack.

She decided to stay at home for the following days. She stopped attending classes. She stopped attending the pack's training.

Travis could not bear to see her like this so he decided to talk to her. He wanted to comfort her.

"I heard you did not attend your classes for three days now. I didn't even see you on the training ground. Why are you hiding here?"

"Even if I go there, nothing will change," Titania said with her monotone voice.

Travis could not help himself but sigh deeply. "This is not the Titania that I know."

Titania turned to look at him only to see his disappointed expression.

"The Titania I know is the person who never gives up no matter how tough life gets."

"Every time she falls, she will rise again with her determination."

Titania bowed her head down as she looked away. She could not look straight into her brother's eyes.

"After all you have gone through, are you giving up now?" Travis's voice was soft but he sounded like he was scolding her.

He wanted to wake her drive and motivation. He still believed that Titania would survive this hurdle as long as she believed in herself.

Titania stayed silent.

"Titania... this is just a test of your faith. Believe in yourself." Travis was encouraging her. He still got no response from her.

He did not have a choice but to use someone to push his stubborn sister and bring her on track.

"Do you think Dylan will be happy to see you act like this?"

"Have you not thought about it? While you are sulking here in your room, filling your heart with disappointments, Dylan is doing his best out there just to protect everyone."

Hearing this statement from her brother, all at once, the sadness overwhelmed her and the silent tears flowed down her chilled face.

"That's it. Just let it out. It is okay to cry. It is okay to feel disappointed. But after that, you should stand strong. Don't lose hope and never give up."

"If things didn't go your way. Then make an alternative plan. Don't let one failure hinder you from reaching your goal." Travis wrapped his crying sister in his arms.

"I understand brother. Thank you."

After talking to her brother, Titania felt a little better. She almost gave up but she realized that her brother was right.

After much thought and careful consideration, Titania had made a difficult decision.

She stared at herself in the mirror and began to talk to herself with her newly found determination.

"Even if I am the weakest werewolf in my pack, it does not mean that I am inferior to humans."

"Staying here alone, I could not help protect my family. I need to leave here and live with humans. I must understand why humans wanted to kill us."

"My pack did not do anything to harm humans. Even if they are hunting us but father and mother explained to us that we must not hurt humans."

"That's right, revenge is not the answer to stop this war between humans and werewolves."

"Humans should understand that just like them, werewolves have the right to live in this world. We are not beasts just like what they think."

"I will correct their thinking. This war is just a big misunderstanding between the two kinds."

A smile lit up her eager face. Titania was back to herself. She found her new motivation.

Titania started to pack her things. She would leave the pack this dawn. She knew that if her family found out her plan, they would not let her leave.

Early in the morning, Travis decided to check on Titania. He was positive that his sister was back to her cheerful self.

Travis went to her room only to find out that she had disappeared. He informed his parents right away.

They looked for her in the village, in the training ground, in the nearby forests and hills, but she was nowhere.

Now he began to worry. He had a gloomy expression on his face. He had a bad feeling about this.

'Where did you go, Baby girl? We already lost Dylan, I can't take it if I will lose you too.'

He went back to her room and he never thought twice about searching the room for something and he successfully found a letter.

He opened it quickly as soon as he saw Titania's handwriting on the front of the card.

Travis shook his head sideways. He knew that Titania had found her reason not to give up.

He smiled faintly. ''Baby girl, you are scaring me. But I have to trust you. Please be safe. Don't break your promise. You need to return to us, safe and sound, no matter what."

Titania thought after her 18th birthday, she would finally become the person she always wanted to be.

She thought after that day, she would no longer be that kid 7 years ago, who had not been able to do anything to help her kind. But she was wrong. All of these were just her wishful thinking.

Her years of intense training,  all her efforts, and hardships,  all ended in vain. Now, she was back to being helpless... she was useless.

She admitted that her failed transformation affected her so much. She had to leave.  This was the only way she could redeem herself. She needed to do something. She had to start all over again so Titania left the pack.
