The surprise [2]

Min Sihyeon was not particularly good or bad with kids. She had her own sets of experience with the kids; none of them turned out to be exceptionally good or bad.

As for whether or not she preferred kids, it depended on how the kids were. As most, she was not fond of the troublesome and stubborn kids despite of how cute they appeared.

Taking in the manners and behaviour of the kid before her, he appeared to be quite docile. Then again, not even five minutes had passed, and therefore, her judgement could be wrong.

"What's wrong with you, Mommy? Why are you talking so weirdly?" the little kid questioned, "Are you feeling fine?"

'What? What's with calling me Mommy over and over again? Can't you see that I am merely nineteen years old? Do I even look like a mother of such a big kid in the first place?'

The situation was something Sihyeon took to be quite exasperating, and taking in a deep breath, she attempted to calm herself down.

Wearing a wide smile on her face, Sihyeon said, "Little Kid, your parents must be worried about you. Let's not deal with this now. This Older Sister will be meeting up with you later on, I promise you that. Now, please go back to your family."

"Mommy, do you not want Joonie anymore? Is that why you are saying all that to me? Joonie promises to be a good boy, so please don't push me away, Mommy," the little kid vocalised.

Tears formed at the corner of the little Kid's eyes, and from his right eye, the tear trickled down. The boy stared at the ground while he fidgeted with his fingers— his appearance managing to tug at Sihyeon's heartstrings.

If it was not for the odd situation in front of her, Sihyeon would have squealed at how endearing the boy before her seemed and engulfed him into a tight hug.

'It's alright, Sihyeon. He is just a little kid and seems obedient. As long as he doesn't cause trouble, this is fine. You would not want to get into a problem for making a little kid cry. When the doctor comes here, he can send him away.'

Turning at the kid, she was about to say something when the door to the room was pushed open, and instantly, her attention went in that direction.

A man, well-dressed, stood beside the door, and as he took a step forward, the door behind him closed. His appearance was managed to take her by surprise, and Sihyeon thought that only through the television was it possible for her to view such otherworldly visuals.

If it was not for the man bringing her out from her trance through his words, she would have gaped and even probably drooled at his outlooks.

"Minjoon," he enunciated.

Sihyeon noticed how the little kid instantly wiped away his tears and turned back to face the man. The innocence in the boy's eyes made Sihyeon almost squeal.

"Daddy!" he enthusiastically exclaimed, "You are here!"

"Hmm," the man answered, staring at the little boy.

Although the man was extremely handsome, what had set her off the most about him was his cold eyes; they were completely detached and unfeeling. Something about them made her feel uneasy, and her heart squeezed painfully when his eyes fell on her.

Concealing the emotions she felt at that moment, she smiled widely and said, "Ah! You must be his father. This little kid got lost and started calling me Mommy. You should be more careful about him."

Although subtly, Sihyeon noticed how creases appeared between both of his eyebrows at his words before fixing his expression back to nonchalance.

"You don't remember?" he questioned.

His words caught her off guard, causing her eyes to widen for a second, and in order to ease the awkward situation, she let out a chuckle.

"What are you talking about, Mister? I of course remember everything perfectly well. Oh! By the way, it would be a great favour if you could call my parents to come here on your way outside," she spoke out.

He took a couple of steps forward— his shoes hitting against the floor making the only noise inside the room. His eyes managed to make Sihyeon nervous and on guard.

Although such a situation made it difficult for her to maintain that smile on her face, she believed that she was doing a decent job on keeping that on.

"Min Sihyeon, do you really not remember or is it some kind of act that you are putting on? No matter what act you put on, you would not be able to escape from this."

Bone-chilling— that was one of the words that she would use to describe his voice; it was just as cold as his eyes. His tone that held no emotion managed to astonish her; this was the first time she had heard such a tone. Even her mathematics teacher paled in comparison to him!

Raising her head to stare at his face, she blinked a number of times before laughing out loud. At most situation she was unable to understand, Sihyeon took laughing as a solution to them.

That was indeed foolish, but other than that, there was not anything she was able to do.

"Mister, are you joking now? I do not know you or that little kid," she said, "If you are not joking, I suppose that you have found the wrong person. You can run a test on me to prove that."

"Min Sihyeon, what are you trying to play at this time? These tactics of yours would not be affecting me," he stated.

"I guess, you got my name right. Is that what caused the confusion?" she vocalised.

His eyes then fell into her eyes, and they stared at her with a certain intensity. There was something about those eyes which managed to draw her in, and no matter how much she wanted, she was unable to turn away.

'Don't tell me that this dude is a psychopath. What type of trouble have I gotten myself into this around? I am really scared now. Father, Mother, where are you now? No, Hyeonnie, you will be fine. This is a hospital after all. What can he do to you here?'

His dark eyes were now starting to unnerve her, and being tensed at it, she attempted to move a little back, turning her head away from him.

However, his hand holding on to her chin was unable to cause her to look away, and once again, she was made to stare into his eyes against her will.

"Those eyes of yours— they are much brighter and full of life. They are really different; this can't be faked," he spoke out.

"Of course, that's what I have been telling you, Mister. You have certainly mistaken me for someone else. How can I even be associated with you?" she said.

He moved back from her and released his grip from her mouth. The distance between them now made her feel satisfied, and she found herself being calmer now.

"What is your age?" he questioned.

"My age? I am nineteen years old. Hold on! I had the entrance exam! Damn! I am done for, now!" Sihyeon voiced out.

"Are you sure that you are nineteen years old?" the man asked.

"Of course, I am sure of that unless I have been in a coma for months. I guess, then, I will be aged," Sihyeon said.

"This is good," he spoke out, "You rest here, and as for the rest of things, they will be taken care of later on."

Despite his words, there was no change of emotions within his eyes as if this was a trivial matter.

Regardless of that, she nodded her head at him for she had no words for him.
