Chapter 6

Zara above..

Song: Joeboy - Baby.

Zara.

On our way to wherever it was that Aminu was taking me, I got a call from Louis.

"Zara I've been looking everywhere for you. Where are you?" He said worriedly like he felt I was kidnapped.

"Why didn't you ask your crazy fiancee. You handed me over to her right?" I snapped unknowingly and Aminu gave me a look from the driver's seat.

He sighed into the phone "What do you mean by that? I did ask and she said she doesn't know"

"What?" My eyes were practically bulging out of my head. That little she devil. "She sent me to give Aminu documents and she told you she doesn't know where I am?"

I heard Louis' sharp breath from the other side of the line "Wait what? Isn't that a job for-"

"An Assistant, yes I know but she sent me anyway." I cut him off. I was tired of people asking me that.

Louis let out a deep sigh. "Okay wait there, I'm coming to pick you-"

"I'm not there anymore. Aminu is taking me for lunch. He'll bring me home."

"What the f-. Give him the phone please." Louis grunted. He sounded upset all of a sudden, didn't know why.

I gave Aminu the phone and he put the phone to his ear.

"Guy"

"No now. She just looked really exhausted and dehydrated when she came into my office. I just want to get something for her to eat."

"And so. Guy chill please. Will you marry her."

"Those are things I can handle."

"Of course I'll bring her back."

"Tea Room"

"Yeah OK bye"

He cut the call and gave me back the phone.

"Your cousin is over protective. Nothing can make Louis shout at me like that EVER" Aminu said with an amused look on his face.

"He was shouting?" I asked and he nodded.

I smirked "Well its because I'm special." I said making him chuckle.

"Indeed you are." He grinned at me.

Moments later, he pulled in to the parking lot of a pink building that was decorated with a lot of pink and white flowers. It was so beautiful.

I found myself looking around frantically. I was in awe of the beauty.

"What is this place?" I asked Aminu.

"Tea Room" he said and I suddenly got confused. Was it just tea that they sold?

"Is it just Tea they sell here?" I asked because I was so hungry and I knew that Tea wouldn't go anywhere for me.

Aminu chuckle lightly "No, they sell food don't worry." He said, unbuckling his seat belt.

"Wait here" he told me and got down from the car. I sat there waiting for him to come back, only for my own door to open.

"Mademoiselle.." He said holding the door open for me. The way the French sounded coming from him was the sexiest thing ever. I blushed and came down from his black Bentley. After closing the door, he took my hand, making sparks shoot up my arm and to my heart.

We made our way into the building. The interior of this place was magnificent. The person that designed this place must have loved the colour pink because there was so much pink that it could get you blind. But it was beautiful with all the flowers in strategic places.

We got a booth in a secluded corner although not many customers were around.

Aminu gave me a menu and asked me to choose what I wanted from the three sections, there were Appetizers, Main Course and Dessert.

I really tried to understand the kinds of food the had on the menu but everything was so foreign. The only thing I could understand was the word 'chicken' but it wasn't enough.

"Have you chosen anything?"

I shook my head, deciding to tell him the truth. "I really don't know what anything on here means." I confessed. He grinned "It's okay, I can order for you." I nodded.

He signaled a waiter who hastily came to us.

"What would you like to order sir?" The waiter asked getting his pen and notepad ready.

"We would like your Spicy Chicken Lollipops for starters and then for the main course we would like your Chicken burger and fries." Aminu said while the waiter scribbled down on his notepad.

"For dessert sir?" The waiter asked.

"Oh, um... Pink Cheese cake" Aminu answered the man.

"For the Cheese cake should I bring a slice or the full cake?" The man asked again.

"Bring two slices for the lady and I." Aminu answered and the waiter left. Immediately he left I got a text from Louis.

*Louis😎: Are you okay?"

I wonder why Louis was worried, I was with his best friend.

*Me: I'm fine. Don't worry.*

*Louis😎: Don't come back too late okay?*

*Me: Okay*

I replied and closed my phone. I looked up to see Aminu looking at me with an unreadable emotion in his eyes.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked, a small smile playing on my lips.

He leaned into the table, supporting himself with his elbows. He stared deeply into my eyes and it was like he was staring at my soul. I looked away immediately feeling uncomfortable. At this time, he chose to speak.

"Zara.." He breathed and I looked at him again but avoiding his gaze.

"Your beauty is captivating. I can't seem to stop staring." He said. His voice was so low and it was like he was singing to me. It was so melodious.

"Thank you" I said blushing hard. I was thankful that I wasn't white because if I was then the blush would be so vivid to him and that would be so embarrassing.

Our food came rather quickly and I didn't hesitate to dig in, looking at how hungry I was. I took a bite of the spicy chicken and it was heavenly. The hot spicy taste filled my mouth making me close my eyes to savour the taste even more. I let out a small moan.

"Good right?" Aminu asked, making me open my eyes. He was smiling, while chewing on his own chicken. I knew he was amused at the way I was behaving. I didn't care.

"It's amazing.." I said, taking another bite. He chuckled at this. This had me wondering though, because there was nothing funny about what I was doing.

I remembered what Lotanna, my best friend in the village used to tell me 'When a guy likes you, he'll laugh at anything you do, funny or not.' I smiled at the thought.

"So.." Aminu started, making my attention fall back on him, he tried to hide the fact that he was nervous but I could see right through the facade.

"Louis said you both didn't know each other till his mom brought you here. What happened really?" He asked, I knew this question would come eventually.

I looked down "It's a long story.."

"We have time. Or you can summarize if you want." He said back looking at me intently.

"I lived in Nnewi, my home town all my life. We weren't rich. Far from it. We struggled everyday to get by, but we were happy. I had seen Louis' father once but it wasn't a pleasant meeting. My father chased him away like he carried a plague with him. It was horrible. I asked my father about it but he said I wouldn't understand. I was thirteen then. When I was fourteen, my mother passed away..."

I paused, remembering how my mother died of a mere aneurysm. How I cradled my mother in my arms shouting for help but no one came. My father had gone to his bricklayer job. How she died in my arms and how I held her till my father came back.

Aminu put his hand on mine. He looked at me sympathetically. He looked really sorry for me. "There's no need for you to continue-"

"No it's fine.." I interjected "I'm okay" I said making him relax and wait for me to continue.

"So as I was saying. My father trained me all alone, never once mentioning Louis or his family. He wanted nothing to do with them. He died a year ago..."

"I'm sorry Zara" he apologised. I smiled at him.

"Such is life." I said shrugging.

"So where'd you grow up?" I asked, quickly changing the topic because although I felt comfortable telling him about this, I still felt a bit uneasy.

"A little bit of everywhere. I was born in USA, went to elementary school there, then relocated to Abuja for my high school then had my University education at Wharton Penn." He explained with a smirk on his face. I was able to tell that he was trying to hide his arrogance from me.

I was a bit perplexed as to where the schooled. Wharton Penn..

Where's that?

"Where's Wharton Penn?" I asked and he grimaced. He probably realized who he was talking to.

"Sorry. It's in the United States." He said and I made an 'oh' face.

"Would you like to see it sometime?" He asked  and I laughed "Is that even a question? I've been imagining going there since I was eight. Anyone who takes me there would be the love of my life, literally." I said absent mindedly, making Aminu throw his head back in laughter.

I joined him although I knew that what I said wasn't funny. When the laughter died down, he took a sip of his wine and held my second hand in his. I gasped and the electric feeling that was triggered by his touch. "What if I take you?" He said huskily and my heart started to pound.

I didn't know what to say.

Zara think!!!

"I don't have a passport, or a Visa or-"

"I can take care of all that Zara. I can make a few calls for your passport and set up an interview for your Visa. And we can use my jet. It must be tired of sitting around anyway." He said casually like he isn't saying the most absurd thing in the world. I assessed him to see whether there was a hint of jesting somewhere. He wasn't smiling and he was meeting my eye. He was serious.

"Are you serious?" I asked, still trying to see if he was pranking me but there was nothing there. He nodded in reply, a small smile appearing on his lips.

"I don't think we can do that. It's too much, too soon and-"

"Zara, Zara listen" he chimed in, making me stop my babbling. I was very wary. It was against my values to just run off with a guy I just met.

"Money isn't a problem for me baby..." he said smugly while smirking. He was so arrogant, but I found it very hot surprisingly.

"And besides I can take you on a tour of the world if you'd like. But only when you're comfortable enough to travel with me. I won't push it. But just know I'm owing you a vacation." He said and I relaxed a bit.

"So how old are you?" He asked, changing the subject.

"I'm twenty four. You?" I asked.

"Thirty one." He replied.

"Wow, you act way older.. Well.. Apart from your arrogance." I teased and he laughed out loud.

"I'm sure the arrogance is one of the things you like about me." He said knowingly, a smug smile on his face. He was right, but I wasn't going to let him know that.

That would only make his head bigger.

"Don't flatter yourself" I joked, faking displeasure in a transparent manner.

"Haha Zara. You look like you're about to murder me." Aminu said while laughing at me.

Idiot.

"I might" I said, joining him in his laughter.

--------------------

"...my favorite dish is Egusi soup and any swallow" I said, answering the question Aminu asked about my favorite food. Aminu chuckled as he parked his car in front of my house.

"Why are you laughing please?" I asked, glaring at him.

He turned to look at me "Most girls will say fried rice and chicken. You just surprised me that's all."

"Okay, sorry I'm not as tush as your girlfriends nah." I said, opening the door to leave. I felt embarrassed by his statement.

Before I could touch the door, I was already being dragged back by Aminu. "Zara, don't get vexed nah, I actually like that you're different."

I looked away from him. I was over it but I wanted him to beg.

"Zara look at me." He requested but I didn't budge. I suddenly felt his fingers on my chin, pulling my attention to him again.

Before I could register what was happening, his lips were on mine.
