Chapter 4

***********************

              *** AT LUNCH ***

I quietly arranged my books into my old, worn-out, white school bag. My classmates stared at me as they left the class, one after the other. Some murmured something I couldn’t hear clearly while others simpered.

I shyly walked to the cafeteria, got some salad and a bottle of water on my lunch tray. I really have no friends at all except for Rilynn Blonca Thompson, the second child of the school’s headmistress even if she doesn't show it.

Just then, I saw Kaylle coming to where I was, with her so called 'cliques' or should I say 'upcoming cliques'.

“Hi Bella!” Kaylle muttered as she walked majestically away. She calls me "Bella" only when she's in a good mood.

I smiled happily as she passed but I didn't show it.

"Ewww! She eats like a pig!!" Cole, one of her friends said as they passed by.

"Pigs raven eats better than this one!" Kaylle replied Cole.

I could hear her teasing me and her friends neighing at me as they walked away.

My smile immediately dropped so I concentrated on my lunch. What do I expect from someone like Kaylle... Whatever!

Seconds later, still thinking about Kaylle and her awkward behavior, someone hit me from behind.

“Oww….” I muttered in pain and frustration.

“Hi girlfriend!” said Rilynn, bringing her tray closer to mine.

"When the fuck will you stop giving me an heart attack, witch?! You and Kaylle are fucking the same!!" That was what wanted to come out of my vegetable-filled mouth but Ril will definitely ask me useless questions and I might spill the bean in the process.

“Hey Ril…” I said, faking another smile.

She gasped and wore a look that says 'Why? Why girl, why are you slowly killing yourself?' She sighed deeply, seating close to me as usual.

My fake smile immediately fades. "Did she see what happened just now with Kaylle and I or she just figured out my thoughts?" I swallowed the vegetable salad without chewing as my heart beats increased. I was scared now, she'll know my biggest secret and maybe tell others.

"Or is she hearing my heart beats, now?" I thought again as my eyes glued to my plate on the table...

“Why not get something better like; yoghurt, ice-cream, doughnut, pizza, hot cheese or even hamburger?” She asked.

"Ugh! Thank goodness she didn't suspect anything!" I smiled and

nodded rhythmically as she mentioned them, just to make her laugh but she didn’t.

“Hahaha!!!…” I said it instead of laughing it in a funny way and rolled my dark eyes sarcastically.

“Hey! I'm being serious here, Idiot!” She said, being more serious this time.

I played along but instead of being serious, I burst out into another laughter.

“Got ya!” I mimicked, pointing my index finger at her and cupping my opened mouth with the other hand.

“Ok now, back to business!” She frowned.

“Oh Jeez! I’m not a food monger, I watch my diet! Perhaps, I might become a model someday….” I said, dreamily.

“I don’t mean you should consume everything? You-need-to-take-something-better-than-salad-and - water- everyday!!!” She stressed and emphasised, almost bursting my ear-drums. I managed to cover my ears with both hands.

“Ok Ril, heard ya! there’s no need for being an English teacher…. It’s lunch. You can eat all earth and all what are in it for all I care! I eat whatever I want to eat and point of correction, I! Don't! Eat salad! And! Water! Everyday!”

"Okay, get it... You take vegetable pizza and strawberry yogurt once in a blue-moon. Common girl, you can do better!"

"You can say whatever... I don't care." I muttered finally pouring the chilled water down my throat.

The truth is that Kaylle goes around, watching what I eat and I don’t want any more trouble. In school or at home... So, I insist and watched how Ril gobbled her hotdog into her small mouth.

***

Another girl with an amoebic figure hit me hard at the back.

“Awww! Not again!” I grumbled softly as I turned to look.

It was Brim, the School bitch. The girl no one ever steps her way, the governor's daughter.

Although, I and Brim are in the same class. We don’t talk to each other 'cause, she’s not my type and we don't have anything to talk about. We have nothing in common and we are nothing in alike, except for the fact that she's Kaylle's role-model.

Brim is a governor’s only child so she reports to the school management false ideas about any student that comes her way. She’s so proud, mean and bossy... That's what I think of her.

“Anabella Andrews!" She yelled and I jinxed in shock. She squat beside me with her agents, stupidly whinnying at me.

If only I had such authority in school, I would have taught her the lesson of her life.

“I want to advice you to stay careful and play safe in this school.” Brim said, almost whispering.

She stocked her hair, wore an ugly, jealous smile that made her look like a useless puppet and left with her misterabilists .

I didn’t snatch her boyfriend so what the heck would cause this? And why she almost planted her disgusting mouth into mine, but seriously? Her mouth stinks and she has this awful body odour.

Looking at Ril, she paused and glanced at me with an expression that seeked more explanation.

“What the fuc- was that all about?” Rilynn muttered.

I sighed. “Well, I guess it all started with Mr. Riots Square.”

“You mean Mr. Rios Rios?”

“Yes,…he really caused tripled trouble for me by announcing in class that he’ll annex me ten marks in my exams and that I’m his new favourite student. I wonder who does that.” I bragged.

“Wow kid! You never cease to amaze me!! Really happy for you, Champ!!!” Ril blubbered joyously as if I’d just been given a ticket to hollywood.

I gave her a smug look and nodded my head.

“Come on Anny, many student fails his subject. How come he cooed you?” Ril supported.

“By saying all I know about reproduction…” I said.

“How come you know so much?!” She asked, giggling.

“No matter what it is, boo; I study, I browse, I read ahead of the teachers, I search and research to gain something called knowledge.”

“Really? You're such a freaking nerd.” she joked.

“Ril, I’ve decided to become nothing less than a high flying student…” I said.

“Throw caution to the wind and be strong, Anny.” Ril encouraged me.

“Ok boo.” I answered in a baby’s voice but it sounded sheepish.

"Ding-Dong! Ding-Dong!!" The school bell rang...

It was already time for the next class.

"Bye now, girl."

“Smell ya later!” Ril yelled as we departed for our various classes.
