The tension in the room was large enough to be splintered into two by an axe. George and I sat dutifully on the settee; the both of us had been shocked into silence by Dad’s earlier expression of anger.  George expression of sadness had gradually waned slowly being replaced by annoyance. My displeasure at being kept sitted in the living room was slowly edging its way into my face and I knew my patience was waning with Dad’s continual pacing which was blowing me out of my mind.
