Strange Thing

Venus is still there when the sky began to turn orange. She no longer cried. The object she is still holding had given its own strength to her. It was only a photograph, but Venus always learned many things from it as if her mother's soul live there, always there whenever Venus needs.

Suddenly a voice startled her. The attention of the girl was momentarily diverted. She tilted her head to listen more closely. It was very clear that the girl's hearing wasn't wrong. However, she wasn't sure. The sound was like the sound of something spinning. Venus kept looking back and forth then found something behind her.

The girl looked down; maybe a little too narrowed eyes.

From among the deciduous shrubs, a spiral black color appeared. The object continued to spin with a very slow hum. Venus blinked, trying to understand what she was seeing. Venus tilted her head slightly. She would be ashamed of herself if that thing suddenly decided to attack her nose.

Venus turned around while putting her mother's photo in her backpack. The mussel seekers there are now moving further away from her. Even though the three little kids were still screaming, their voices were strangely no longer heard. Even the sea seemed too quiet.

Venus's feet suddenly turn into jelly. The girl sat back down with a palpitating heart. She looked up and looked in all directions, wanting to make sure that everything is still real. Venus pinches her own arm. It's hurt. Yes, this is real and, at the same time, terrible.

The sea ripples were still pounding and the gust of the wind was chills the nape of the neck. Clouds are slow and irregular. Then now, the mussel seekers are seen leaving the beach. Everything seems normal. Everything's fine. What looks like, however, isn't the same as what should be heard.

All voices disappeared. Everything feels quiet, so quiet. The only sound she heard is her own breathing and her increasingly beating heart. Fear makes her short of breath.

This kind of thing couldn't be repeated again.

At that time, Venus was seven years old, playing in the yard alone and then, she panicked when she realized that everything seemed so quiet, even though there were lots of vehicles passing by on the highway. Venus thought she had somehow become deaf. Strangely, a few moments later the sounds and voices returned.

Then why did this thing have to happen again today? Is it just hallucinations? Or signs of madness?

Venus bit her lip and felt her vision blurry from tears. She wiped her eyes harshly, no longer wanting to cry over this like she was seven years old. She stood up and immediately left the place as soon as possible. On the way, finally sounds filled her senses of hearing again. The girl was still trembling, but her feelings were a little relieved.

When Venus arrived at home, her dad had just opened the door and entered the house. Venus kept her bicycle in the garage and then stepped into her dad's house. Again the girl sighed, this time strengthening her heart for whatever will happen later. However, both her dad and stepmom seemed to be nowhere. Her heart feels relieved. The girl then rushed to her room and immediately cleaned herself up. After that, she fell asleep.

A confusing dream haunts her again. This is the third time, with the same picture. The images on the dream look monotonous. The dream will certainly look clear, if only the picture isn't foggy and makes everything look gray. Venus could only catch the shadow of a pair of human beings who seemed to stand still, before finally disappearing like covered by air. Then, other shadows began to appear randomly and so quickly. Voices were heard overlapping irregularly. Once upon a time Venus felt like someone was saying her name, but she wasn't too sure.
