Prologue

“What are we gonna do with the baby? Should we send him to the orphanage? After all, she has no memory about him,” suggested Mark standing beside Jacob.

Jacob didn’t give any response to Mark and kept on glancing outside the window. Sofiya was cuddling the baby on her arms sitting on the lawn.

Mark was surprised getting no response from Jacob. So he called out again, “sire…”

Jacob flinched and shifted his gaze at Mark and raised his eyebrows in confusion.

“The baby? What are we going to do with him?” Mark questioned again.

“What is there to do with him?” Jacob glanced back outside the window.

“Should we send him to an orphanage?” Mark questioned.

“I didn’t expect that from you, Mark. He is just a little baby. We shouldn’t go that harsh on him. He needs to stay with his mother. Although it is not possible to get back his father he does have his mother. So it is not right to keep him away from his mother,” Jacob replied.

“But… how can that be possible? She has no memory about…”

Jacob’s sudden glance made Mark gulp his half-words back on his throat. His eyes had piercing look which made Mark lower his head.

“That can be possible, Mark. Even though she has no memory about her baby but still there is motherly love deep inside her which needs to be showered on her son. I know how it feels to live without parents. So I cannot let that baby go through the same phase.”

“How are we going to do that?” Mark raised a question still lowering his eyes.

“Leave that to me,” said Jacob, and strolled out of the room. He walked out of the house and approached Sofiya.

“Jb, he is so cute…” Sofiya whispered lifting her head and glancing at him.

Jacob smiled at her and glanced at the boy who was sleeping peacefully on her arms. Indeed he was very cute and adorable. Jacob felt sad thinking about the boy’s fate.

“Get him ready Sofi,” Jacob suggested.

“What? Why? Isn’t he going to live with us?” questioned Sofiya getting up on her heels.

“He will live among us being the son of his mother,”  Jacob replied.

“What?” Sofiya was stunned.

“He is going to his mother, just get him ready,” Jacob replied.

“But, JB…”

Jacob interrupted her, “don’t worry he will not be going far. Just nearby he will be.”

“You mean…” Sofiya paused.

“Yeah, he is going to his mother.”

Sofiya nodded her head and tiptoed inside the house. She changed the boy into fresh clothes and kept him on a stroller.

Together Jacob and Sofiya left the house.

Eva was busy preparing meals for the evening suddenly, she felt strange inside. She turned off the tap and stood still. Her instinct was making her feel like she was going to meet someone. Someone very close to her.

She placed her hand on her forehead and closed her eyes. Suddenly she saw stroller and baby hand rising up from it.

She hastily opened her eyes in panic.

“What is happening with me?” she mumbled covering her mouth in disbelief.

Her instinct was getting more and more intense. The feeling of mixed desperate, impatient, happiness was all inside her and she was not able to figure out what was wrong with her.

She paced back and forth trying to deal with her emotion. Suddenly she heard the doorbell ringing.

She slowly stepped towards the door and stood still holding the doorknob. She felt like she was going to see someone very important person behind the door.

Taking a deep breath she slowly pulled the door and her eyes widened seeing the same stroller which she had seen a while ago and baby hands rising up in the air.

She slowly paced towards it and the moment her eyes fall on the baby, who was looking at her with his green eyes giggling, her heart melts down.
