Melissa's Pov

Beep! Beep! Beep!

My alarm demanded my attention, awaking me from my slumber. I glared over at my side table before slapping my alarm clock as I alway did. My body felt the stress of moving, as I got up I made sure to stretch out my muscles before ultimately getting out of my bed. I stood up, grabbed some clothes to wear for the day and went to the bathroom that was right across from my room. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. That was enough for a Saturday morning, I thought to myself. I changed my clothes and came out of the bathroom.

"Darling! You are awake. Good! Come downstairs, breakfast is almost ready.” My mum said from the bottom of the stairs.

"Morning mum.” Greeting my mum as I went downstairs.

"Morning Lissa" she greeted back. "I'm sorry about yesterday," I said. "You mean this morning right?" I nod in response, feeling guilty for lying to her.

"No problem. The deed has been done. We'll talk about it later, okay?"

"Okay" I answered.

"Now come down for breakfast," she told me.

"Okay Martha." I said with a large smile.

"Thanks for being positive Lissa." And then she gave me a wink.

At the Table

"What is this?" Barbie poked her food with a fork her face morphed with an even more disgusted look as the york broke from her egg.

"There fried egg, over easy." Mum explained, eating her own eggs. Barbie always had her eggs scrambled.

“Idiot.” I say underneath my breath. How did she not know what they were?

"Mum!" Barbie whined. I rolled my eyes knowing mum was going to say something.

"Lissa don't call her that. Apologize now!" Mum scolded me.

"Sorry.” I smile bitterly at her, not meaning a word. While Barbie could be a great sister, she could also be such a princess.

"Good. Now the both of you behave." Mum said.

"Yes mum" We both said in unison.

I began my own meal. I put my egg on top of the toast we were given. I bit into the toast, the butter that laid on top of the toast, mixed beautifully with the creaminess of the york that exploded when I bit into it. The bread absorbed the york and created layers of flavor as I chewed.

I moaned at the taste. "Mum this is delicious.” I look at her offering her my praises.

"Thank you dear. Lissa?" Mum called after a second of silence.

"Hmm?" I look at her with my eyebrow raised. My mouth was full, so I waited for her to talk as I chewed on my breakfast.

"When you’re done with breakfast take those cookies over to the Thompsons’." She nodded to the cookies on the counter.

The request made me choke on the bit I was trying to swallow.

"Are you okay?" She asked, shocked at the sudden action.

"Drink." Barbie extended her hand giving me the glass of water. I took it from her hand, I drank a few mouthfuls until I could speak.

"Yeah mum I'm okay" I assured them after I composed myself.

"Alright. Make sure to eat slowly darling.” Mum looked over at me worried.

"Sorry." I apologized.

"And no thank you?" Barbie sassed back. I guess she was still mad at my earlier comment.

“Oh why thank you your majesty." I spit back.

I got up from the table and put my dishes into the sink. “Don’t forget the cookies.” Mum prompted. I grabbed the plate and waved it for her to see I had them in my hand.

--------------------

I walked over to the mansion belonging to my neighbors. I was intimidated by the large establishment, but gathering my courage I rang the doorbell.

No answer. Strange, I waited a few seconds before pressing the bell again. Still no answer. I waited a few minutes this time, maybe it was taking them some time to get the door. After five minutes passed I pressed the doorbell for a third time.

After not hearing anything after a few seconds I gave up thinking no one was home. I turned around and as I was about to begin my trek back home the door opened behind me.

"Who are you?" A lovely masculine voice asked. I turned around suddenly hearing the voice and then responded.

"I'm Lissa actually Melissa. Melissa Bond." I introduced myself to the boy that stood in front of me. I cringe on the inside, I hated using my surname. It left a sour taste in my mouth ever since dad left.

"So what do you want?" He asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Uhm my mum asked me to drop these c-cookies. We are the new neighbors. We got here yes-yesterday" I stammered.

I don’t think anyone could blame me for it. The nameless boy was stunning. His eyes were dark brown that stood beautifully against his black pupils. His thick lips were a light pink with a deep cupid's bow. His dark brows, that were set in a downward position, match his dark brown locks that were styled in a mess fashion. His arms were crossed making his biceps protrude even though they didn’t need much help doing that. His chest strain against the tight grey short sleeve his torse wore. His thighs also strained against the sweatpants he was wearing. Damn! I thought to myself as I allowed my eyes to trail over his body back to his face. He didn’t seem to care, probably used to the attention.

"Okay then." His large hands swiftly grabbed the plate pulling it free from my grip. He took them and looked at me as if waiting for me to leave, he didn’t even say thank you. I thought after a few seconds of staring at each other.

"Rude." I mumbled. His face twisted into angier, for a second I thought I saw sadness but his comment cut me off from believing this.

"What did you say?" He asked.

"That was rude. You just grabbed it without saying thank you." I told him.

"Did I beg you to bring this?" He questioned.

Ouch!

"No but still..." I trailed off not used to the attention I was receiving from him.

"Whatever, can you just go?" He questioned.

"Yeah." I sadly replied, turning to leave.

"Wait!" I turned back to see Stacey instead.

"Oh, good morning" I greeted politely.

"Morning sweetie. You look splendid today" she commented.

"Uhm thanks. You too" I said, my hands started to feel sweaty from the interaction. I rather deal with the rude eye candy then the overly-nice woman.

I look down at what I put on. It was a simple red blouse with a black skater skirt and black flats to match. I praised myself for wearing this outfit today, realizing this is what I was wearing meeting the neighbors.

Unlike what her profession was, Stacey was wearing a knee length blue dress and Stilettos. I don’t know how she did any housekeeping in that outfit.

"Oh this, this what I normally wear. What brings you here?" She asked.

"My mum asked me to bring over some cookies she made.” I told her.

"That’s wonderful. I'm sure they will enjoy them. Thank you for bringing them over." Stacey smiled at me.

See was that so hard for him to do?

"It’s funny, I was actually heading over to your house before you came." Stacey continues the conversation.

"Oh really? Why?" I asked.

"I told the Thompson's about their new neighbors. They were excited and wanted to meet you all. So they decided to invite you guys for dinner"

"Oh that's nice. They shouldn't have." I lied.

I’m sure the house was wonderful and the food would be just as wonderful. I just wasn’t sure about meeting the new neighbors. They could secretly be crazy and try and kill us all. I mean the son, I presume, was rude who knows what the family was like. But he was some eye candy.

While I could care less what a boy did or said, this one had something about him I wanted to know more about. Hopefully, he would be as rude as before.

"I insist. By the way what's your name?" Stacey asked me.

"I'm Melissa Bond but everyone calls me Lissa" I told her.

"Okay nice to meet you Lissa. I'm Stacey"

"I already know that. I overheard you telling my mum" I said smiling.

"Well, we’ll be excited for you to come over. Be sure to wear something… pretty. I’m sure Steve would love to be your friend." Stacey smiled looking back at the house, then back to me.

"He's always rude right?" I asked stupidly.

“Steve? Oh no, he's just in a bad mood. His girlfriend seems to have broken up with him. It’s been hard for him getting over it." Stacey spoke excitedly, happy to share some gossip with the new neighbors.

"Oh! I’m sorry, I just thought that was his personality." I apologized.

"Don’t worry once you get to know him, you’ll see how charming he is." She smiled at me.

I gave her a slight nod and turned to leave but she stopped me again.

"Dinner will be at 8 tonight." Stacey said before I walked away. I nod my head in agreement, “ok. Thank you again.” I smile. “No problem, see you tonight.” She replied and waved me goodbye as I walked across the grass. I see her enter the home again before entering my own.
