RED'S POV
Shirley dropped her knees on the floor beside my seat. Her face flushed right away as she called me, and tears started to run down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry, Red. I never meant to cheat on you, but I was drunk."
I got shocked to see her kneeling. Though it hurts, I knew I should not put all the blame on her. Eric had already explained that Calla was the root cause of all these. However, if she didn't show Eric any motive, he would not have taken advantage of her weakness.
"No, Shirl. Stand up. I won't say I can forgive you, but the wound is still fresh," I mumbled while pulling her up and helped her stand up.
"I know!" She was already sobbing, and to spare us both from making a scene, she ran away and went to the bathroom.
Scenes of our friendship flashed in my mind again until it wandered to that moment where I saw them covered with a thin sheet--both naked. Nothing hurt me mo
RED'S POVMy eyes grew wide as Sean caged me between him and the door. This rough move was the aggressive side of him that I did not see yet. This passionate kiss may not be our first, but Sean was always gentle, and he did it in the right place. His eyes darkened as he gazed down at me, and I could tell beneath those narrow darts that a strong desire was already consuming him. With his hands planted on each side of my shoulders, he tilted his head and started a slow and sensual suck, alternating between my upper and lower lips. Drawn into the momentum, I opened my mouth to welcome him, and he probed his tongue inside as soon as he got the access. He stayed that way for a couple of minutes, shifting between sucking and probing until my senses screamed for something more.I closed my eyes as his mouth moved into my earlobes, my fingers clutching into the edges of his shoulders. Sean took it as another sign of welcome, and h
RED'S POVI woke up in my bed in the morning with Sean still asleep beside me. The more I wonder when he had started planning to connect our lives. I remembered my assigned room in the office and how it came next to him. It only meant, wherever I would be--in the office or at home--there would he be also. The more my suspicions grow. There must be a reason for all of these and that they went through careful planning. I swore to myself; I would find out the secret.I slowly lifted his arm that trapped me in, but it tightened around me instead. When I moved my eyes to look up at him, a wide grin was already spreading across his face."Good morning, sweetheart.""You're tricking me again!" I grumbled. He chuckled. "Because I do not want you to get up.""Are you not going to work?" I raised a brow at him while I slowly sat up."You are not going to work, but if you like, you can do the interview tod
SEAN'S POVWhen the president's scandal became the top headline of the day, Calla came to my mind. A part of my investigation was to check who were the prominent people that came to Sama Island shortly before Calla left Eric. Although hundreds of people swarmed the island, only a few belong to the description of "someone richer and more famous." And among them all, there was someone consistent in visiting the place.I also checked the owner of that private property, where I met Calla. Though it belonged to the name of a person not known in our business circle, it linked to the president's name after a series of investigations. I felt sorry for Calla--she had wasted her prime years with a married man--someone who could never be her own. What else did she want when Eric could provide everything that she wished?I came to see Red again that morning when the news hit all over the country. Aside from wanting to comfort her from
SEAN'S POVBefore I could answer, the door opened, and a nurse came in. Her smile disappeared the moment she saw me, and she stood pinned on the doorframe. Her eyes widened, and she froze for a few seconds as she gazed at me, though she managed to let out an awkward smile afterward. Probably, she didn't expect I was there because Calla came alone. And I was sure that part of her endorsement from the ER stated that she should have maximum confidentiality and that there should be no visitors allowed."Yes?" Calla raised her brows on her, embarrassed by her sudden intrusion. I was sure she knocked on the door, but perhaps, we were just too overwhelmed to hear it.The nurse looked at me, then back at Calla in an unsteady gaze. "I'm sorry if I disturb you, ma'am, sir, but I'm here to give you-""Please, come back later. We have some important matters to discuss," Calla replied, suppressing her embarrassment from showing
RED'S POV"Miss?" I called her attention again. "Are you the third applicant?"She narrowed her eyes on me, and a frown spread across her face. She looked at me then back to Sean. I got embarrassed by her dumbness, so I checked to see the profile of the third applicant. However, the applicant's profile displayed a chubby face, but this lady before me had a beautiful, heart-shaped one."You are in the wrong office," Sean spoke before I could send her out. "The HR's office is on the left-wing. And you are on the right.""But I-" she started to protest, but Sean walked towards her and cut her off."I'll show you the way," he offered, but the lady did not nod or shook her head. She just stared at him with an upset expression.Sean walked back to me and smacked a kiss on my lips. "See you at lunchtime, babe.""Okay," I said, wrapping my hands around his neck. I did not know why but I felt threatened
"Where have you been?" I asked, my eyes planted on the mess of his appearance. He gave me a sheepish smile and apologized. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting.""You look bothered," I commented, running my eyes up and down on him."I am. I'm sorry. Something came up."He seemed not interested to talk about what bothered him, so I decided to keep my mouth shut. I always know when to stay silent and when to open my mouth. Men hate nagging, and they hate to talk about themselves. I tried to ignore this uneasy feeling, so I wrapped my arm around his waist. He also placed an arm around my shoulder, and we walked together towards the dining room. When my head hit his chest as he pulled me closer to him, I smelled a strange scent. I pulled a long face, wrinkling my nose afterward. Sean seemed to notice my expression because he withdrew his arm from my shoulders and held my hand instead."Dear, may I go to the bathroom first?""Of course," I nodded
The closet opened to a line of business suits hanging neatly on the rod according to colors. On the lower compartments, I also caught a glimpse of folded clothes. Ever since Sean showed it to me the first time we came here, I had not placed a single item there yet. I wondered if I got into the wrong room, so I let my eyes roam across the place. Yet, everything around showed feminine touches, including the floral prints of the bedsheets.I continued to watch him changing into his trouser and slipping into a white undershirt. When he turned around to discard his bathrobe, he caught me staring at him, and his lips twisted into a smile."Did I wake you up?" he asked, walking back to the bedside."No," I replied, covering my mouth as I broke into a yawn."Why not sleep still?" He sat down beside me and brushed his fingers on my hair. Those sweet and tender eyes sent a warm wave into my heart, making it pump a little faster.I sat up and pulled my knees,
I nodded, squinting my eyes. "Yes. What about her?The president's woman?' I whispered, afraid that somebody from outside would suddenly open the door."Yes. She is one of the patients whom Dr. Leila endorsed to me." She stressed out the words, her sharp and narrowed eyes drew both Dr. Mimi and mine's full attention"And?" I followed up."Mr. Sean Grey asked her to continue handling that lady. I have to see her for her regular checkup, but I would be the one to come to wherever Mr. Grey wanted to see her."I froze for a moment, and the same look of horror in my face reflected in Leila's expression."Red, tell me. Your new boyfriend's name is Sean Grey, right? Why would he have a say in that woman's prenatal care? Is she a relative?""What?!" Dr. Mimi butted in, confused and surprised.I did not answer, and my face dropped as if a yoke was tied to my head. My mind drifted back to the day I met Rya Sevilla at the ER. She was already hyst
