Audrey's Pov

Charles Dickens once said: “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”

At times, I did wonder if his character, Scrooge was an alien?

I mean, who hates Christmas? No one. Because it was a season of love.

Maybe it was because of how mum raised me. Let me take you to a little bit of my history…

We all started as a lovely family who had it all. Dad was an Alpha of a local pack called Snow Ball. My mum was his Luna.

During Christmas, we lit trees, sung carol songs as a pack. We even had feasts too. I loved Christmas, so did the whole pack.

I was not the first born. Emily was.

She died when I was 3. This left me with Chris, my little brother who dreamt of being an Alpha so he could rule a whole pack. Me? Bleh! I was not just interested.

I got my first dog at 16. Dad gifted me that. Even though we were wolves, that didn’t mean we didn’t love pets. I named it Blue because it was unique breed that had a streak of blue on its body.

Sad times came, mum died.

And, that hurt.

So bad that it tore me apart. I didn’t even get to tell her good bye.

Neither did Chris. I had to be there for him. I had to be that elder sister… Cause dad wasn’t. That incident made him lose his mind. As an Alpha, he made the pack broke. We became bankrupt.

My dad became a drunkard. He stayed out late and gambled every day. Whenever he came home, he cursed and called me a bitch. He said I should be grateful because I was the one meant to die. Not mum.

I never understood that.

I have a best friend. Her name is Britney. She is the queen bee of the pack’s school. She became my friend when she called a bully off, who tried to steal my snack. Since then, we’ve been so inseparable...

“You owe me big time, Miller,”

It was a hoarse voice, masculine and rough. There was something sinister about that voice.

That sent shrills into my body even though I was far from it.

“I will be forever grateful, Adolf. I promise to pay next week before you could even think of it.” That’s my dad’s voice. It’s as fierce as usual.

“You better do. There might be a lot of consequences if you don’t.”

It’s that same hoarse voice. It’s like it’s warning dad about something that involved payment.

Oops, there was something I forgot to tell you.

Remember I told you that our pack loved Christmas? Well… Christmas season was far approaching. We were at mid-November and my dad needed a lot of money to celebrate Christmas for the pack if not they would over throne him.

This was why he needed to organize a very pleasant Christmas for the pack or else he would leave his position.

My stomach knotted in nervousness for what I have just heard. I had a feeling it won’t turn out well because dad was so useless. He was a big asshole who screwed up everything he laid his hands on.

What if he didn’t pay the money back?

I just didn’t want to imagine what would happen.

I dropped my things and opened a packet of my dog’s food. I placed it inside his plate and smoothened his house. He went in and started eating.

My stomach grumbled in annoyance. I had only fed it coconut juice from the beach since morning time.

I went out from my room.

It was at that moment, I sighted dad. He was basically coming out of his office, with the man who owned the hoarse voice I heard earlier.

“Ah, what a pleasant surprise. You have a stunning daughter. I must say, she took after her mum’s beauty.” The man mouthed off. He was a tall and lanky man. There was something about him that screamed power.

He had the aura of a Beta surrounded around him. That Beta aura.

“Daughter, it is. But it doesn’t matter. She’s of no use to me anyway,” My dad replied the man with negligence.

“Then why don’t we use her as a collateral, Miller. If you’re unable to pay, I take her. She’s such a graceful beauty.” He replied my dad. I arch my brows about what he was on about.

“Consider it done. I have not gotten rid of anyone sooner.” My dad responded, shaking his hands. I blink my eyes in confusion.

Dear Moon goddess, when did my dad become so irresponsible?

I observed as they walked out the door.

I ran to the kitchen to the fridge. I opened a bottle of water and gulped it very fast, down my throat. I felt hot knowing that that man would come for me next week. My dad never paid his debts.

It was as bad as that. Why my pack had even survived till now was as a result of the annual donations by the elites in my pack. Dad quit his job as a Painter when mum died. Ever since then, he had been miserable.

I quickly prepared something for Chris, myself and dad.

If I didn’t cook his food too, I should get ready for hell to be loosed.

It was break time at College and I was under the huge tree that laid outside with my clique.

“Guys, guys. Has anyone heard the latest rumor that has been going on for some time now?” Britney suddenly exclaimed. I nodded and so did everyone.

“Well… I’ll have to tell you since it’s nearly Christmas.” Britney added.

“It’s a rumor of a very cruel pack called The Red Walkers pack. Their Alpha is a ruthless beast who kills any trespasser on sight. He is said to have a stone-cold heart and he also hates Christmas. Like he detests it and does not want to have anything to do with it.” Britney said.

We all stare at her in awe. She had a way of arousing people’s interest in just seconds. She was as sassy as that. It was no wonder she had millions of followers on I*******m and was the College’s Queen bee.

“What a mess!” Genesis lets out. She was the daughter of the Beta.

“I can’t ever imagine being a part of that pack. I love Christmas soo much.” I commented with my book in my hands. “I know right? We all do too.” Cole replied me. He was Genesis' mate.

“This is unbelievable! How could anyone hate Christmas?”

Tyler, Britney’s boyfriend, asked rhetorically.

“Perhaps a virgin like Audrey.” A distant voice suddenly said.

Everyone turned in shock to see who it was.
